Biden Border Crisis: Illegal Alien Venezuelan Gang Presence Growing In NYC

A member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua was arrested earlier this month after shooting two NYPD police officers who had pulled him over for going the wrong way on a one-way street. The officers survived, but we are learning much more about this gang now that the NYPD is issuing warnings about their presence and escalating violence.

Fox5 reports:

The NYPD is trying to tackle a rise in violent crime among Venezuelan gang members who have recently arrived in New York City.Authorities say suspected members of the gang Tren de Aragua have been making their way across the southern border and into the United States for the last two years.NYPD Assistant Chief of Detectives Jason Savino spoke with FOX 5 NY’s Linda Schmidt, showing a recruitment video made by gang members. The video shows the gang members flashing guns and gang signs in what is believed to be Ecuador, but then flashes forward to show the same gang members in Times Square. . . . . Police say that members of the gang have gone from crimes like shoplifting and stealing cell phones and jewelry to all-out shoot-outs in the streets.Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, the Venezuelan migrant accused of shooting two NYPD officers during a traffic stop, reportedly confessed to police that gang members instructed to shoot police officers. In court, Queens Assistant District Attorney Lauren Reilly said that Mata had told investigators that members of Tren de Aragua were smuggling firearms into city shelters inside food packages that do not have to go through metal detectors. According to Savino, the gangs are also expanding into drug trafficking.”We’re just starting to see a drug called Tussi which is a pink cocaine-type substance. We just started seeing that,” Savino said. “It’s as big of a challenge as we’ve faced.”

This situation that is endangering Americans in New York City, and presumably along the path to New York from the border, rests entirely on the shoulders of Joe “I am the Democratic Party” Biden and his open border policy.

Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) released the following in January, 2024:

Today, Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22), along with3 Republican colleagues, sent a follow-up letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding the recent wave of violent crimes being carried out across America by illegal aliens from Venezuela. In the letter, the members urge Secretary Mayorkas to prevent Venezuelans from entering our interior and immediately deport those who have been released pending immigration proceedings. On September 22, 2022, Congressman Nehls and 13 of his colleagues sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas regarding a report received by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that instructed agents to look for violent criminals from Venezuela entering the United States. The report allegedly indicated that the Venezuelan regime, under the control of Nicolás Maduro Moros, was releasing violent criminals from prison early, including inmates convicted of “murder, rape, and extortion.” Over a year later, Venezuelan aliens are now wreaking havoc in cities across the United States. . . . . “The policies of Secretary Mayorkas and the Biden Administration have encouraged criminals from all over the world, including Venezuelan nationals, to invade our country, resulting in robberies, assaults, and deaths of American citizens,” said Congressman Nehls. “Our nation’s foreign adversaries know that our country is weak, and they are taking advantage of our wide-open borders. It is past time Secretary Mayorkas and Joe Biden take action to deter violent criminals from crossing our border and deport every single illegal alien they have released into our country, states, and communities, especially the criminals from Venezuela. Make no mistake, the blood of every single American who has died due to crimes committed by illegal aliens is on the hands of Secretary Mayorkas, Joe Biden, and the entire Biden Administration.”
