U. Minnesota Report Advocates for More ‘2SLGBTQIA+’

“In general, science benefits from a wide range of perspectives and insights, which is particularly important for study of differential risks by population”

Apparently, there is just not enough 2SLGBTQIA+ activity at the University of Minnesota. Who knew?

The College Fix reports:

Recruit more queer, trans scholars to help environment: UMinn report

A new University of Minnesota report advocates for more “2SLGBTQIA+” individuals in environmental work, arguing their communities are disproportionately harmed by pollution and natural disasters.

Published in the university’s Gender Policy Report, the article “Environmental Justice for Queer and Transgender Communities” says queer and transgender communities tend to be left out of environmental health policies and planning even though they “experience discrimination leading to social, economic, and health disparities that place them at an increased risk for environmental injustices.”

Michelle Bell, one of the authors of the report and an environmental health professor at Yale University, told The College Fix getting different perspectives is important.

“In general, science benefits from a wide range of perspectives and insights, which is particularly important for study of differential risks by population,” Bell said in a recent email.

Bell told The Fix the inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals also “can help build trust” between communities and decision-makers.

“Simply put, the best science to aid society will come from all voices behind heard,” Bell said.

The article states discrimination “often” is “perpetuated by institutions that center non-2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and create barriers to access.”

One of the ways they “experience disproportionate environmental burdens” involves health care, according to the article. It cites a study based on Census data that found “neighborhoods with a higher proportion of same-sex couples have a higher amount of hazardous air pollutants.”

Among the authors’ recommended solutions are the inclusion of “2SLGBTQIA+ communities, especially those with multiple marginalized identities, in planning and policymaking” and “a direct effort to recruit more 2SLGBTQIA+ academics and researchers in this field.”

“U. Minnesota Report Advocates for More ‘2SLGBTQIA+’”

While you’re at it, add a few more letters. It’s still not diverse enough. Maybe some of the more unpopular ones, like Z, and V. And sometimes Y. Unless T already means sometimes Y. I’m partial to 𐐉.

Okay, now we’re approaching the Gardiner Hieroglyph Catalog for symbols for sexual orientation. The Gardiner Catalog has over 5,000 known Ancient Egyptian written hieroglyphs in it, with variations of meaning based on pictorial, determinative, phonetic or emphatic value. Many were only used during certain periods in history.

What in the hell is 2S-blah blah blah? I give up!!

If you really must know, it stands for “Two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex, asexual, and anyone else we’ve forgotten”.

I remember back when gay people were still struggling with the transition from “Gay & Lesbian” to “LGB”, and were already asking, once we start adding more initials where’s it going to end? And I remember someone proposing an all-encompassing solution of “LGBF*”, with the asterisk acting as a wild card, and standing for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, friends, and anyone else who feels they’re part of the community”.

Still trying to remake society in the image of a tiny, tiny minority. They fail to realize that when the vast majority gets tired of their sanctimonious bullsh*t, they will be squashed like a bug.

My head is exploding. 2S? Next thing, they’ll want to add F for Furries. May as well just lump them all and all their variant crazinessinto the general term MID which stands for Mentally Ill Deviants.

Fyi, the 2SLGBTQI+ acronym stands for “two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and additional sexually and gender diverse people.”

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if in a couple years, the term “Minor Attracted Person” is slipped into their ‘diversity’ acronym.
And now that I re-read the + part at the end, they’ve already paved the way for “Minor Attracted Person”.
