UCLA Medical Students Required to Attend Lecture With Speaker Praising ‘Mama Earth’ and Leading Chants of ‘Free Palestine’

Medical students at UCLA were required to attend a class on ‘structural racism’ that featured a speaker who went on at length about ‘Mama Earth’ and led chants of ‘Free Palestine.’
We have been following the left’s efforts to embed social justice and DEI in the study of medicine. Professor Jacobson has written about it extensively. It’s a disturbing development.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
UCLA Med School Requires Students To Attend Lecture Where Speaker Demands Prayer for ‘Mama Earth,’ Leads Chants of ‘Free Palestine.’
In a mandatory course on “structural racism” for first-year medical students at the University of California Los Angeles, a guest speaker who has praised Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel led students in chants of “Free, Free Palestine” and demanded that they bow down to “mama earth,” according to students in the class and audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
Lisa “Tiny” Gray-Garcia, who has referred to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks as “justice,” began the March 27 class by leading students in what she described as a “non-secular prayer” to “the ancestors,” instructing everyone to get on their knees and touch the floor—”mama earth,” as she described it—with their fists.
At least half of the assembled students complied, two students said. Gray-Garcia, a local activist who had been invited to speak about “Housing (In)Justice,” proceeded to thank native tribes for preserving “what the settlers call L.A.,” according to audio obtained by the Free Beacon, and to remind students of the city’s “herstory.”
The prayer also included a benediction for “black,” “brown,” and “houseless people” who die because of the “crapatalist lie” of “private property.”
“Mama earth,” Gray-Garcia told the kneeling students, “was never meant to be bought, sold, pimped, or played.”

FOX News spoke to people who witnessed this and were less than impressed:
A mandatory “structural racism” class at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA led a prayer to Mother Earth, which disturbed some who attended the lecture.
The UCLA Jewish Faculty Resilience Group spoke to numerous witnesses from the lecture and penned a letter to the administration Friday, calling for an “urgent and thorough external review” of its curriculum to put an end to “political indoctrination.”
“We write to bring to your attention disturbing events that unfolded two days ago on the UCLA campus… based on the first-hand eyewitness reports presented to us by multiple first-year students,” the letter, signed by Professors Kira Stein and Elina Veytsman from the medical center as well as David Mimmer from the law school, said…
A witness of the event who spoke to Fox News Digital on the condition of anonymity described experiencing intense feelings about the “idolatry.”
“I was very deeply offended and disgusted,” the witness said.
This is insanity and it doesn’t belong anywhere near the study of medicine.

UCLA should be sued over this.
This will only stop when the students refuse in sufficient numbers to attend this sort of claptrap.
The question is why support these places when there is no upside?
This kind of stuff is happening in every medical school in the country, particularly the Top-50 Medical schools. Medicine is home to some of the nuttiest, most stridently left-wing people imaginable. If a student refuses to participate in these ‘required’ elements of the curriculum, they get dismissed. Good luck getting into another medical school once you’ve been dismissed from one. It’s not much better for faculty and probably even worse, all things considered.
My wife has been a doc at a large, prestigious teaching hospital for more than a decade and a doctor for 30-years. She’s counting the days to retirement.
Society needs segregation from these types of people as they have no business destroying what rational people have successfully acheived.
Most of these people are already concentrated into the insane asylums of the cities.
Neither was medicine, but the leftist hacks are doing a fine job of it.
Remember, these hacks get paid more per lecture than a blue collar worker makes in a month. Just SICK.

The more of these stories I read the more I become convinced that the real goal is simply to fuck with us. They are sending a message that they are the dominate force in society now; “We are the Borg, you will be assimilated”.
It all brings to mind things I’ve read in social histories of totalitarian societies (such as Richard Evans’ trilogy on Nazi Germany: The Coming of the Third Reich, The Third Reich in Power, and The Third Reich At War…long read but well worth it). The way totalitarians either destroy or subvert every corner of society…that’s what really gives me the creeps about these guys.
‘It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose’; no not creepy at all that the University would mandate attendance for students to sit through indoctrination attempts. Just what we want in a Physician, no moral courage to tell the University to pound sound.
Don’t trust any MD under 60 for the next decade or two. Until we can flush the current crop of med students out.
And especially do not trust or hire any UCLA graduate, especially an Islamic one as we know what they are being indoctrinated in.

I agree there is definitely a cut off age line we should be wary of. Maybe adjust the age downward to 50 or even 45, I have Physician friends who are my age or half a decade younger who are very much NOT adherents of woke Cray Cray.
Perhaps David Geffen should put a hold on the 3-5 hundred million dollars he has given /pledged to UCLA medical school. he has always been a liberal BUT this might have been a bit too far even for him.
I wonder what he thinks of the « Free Palestine « chants?

BTW, “Free Palestine” graffiti is easily altered with the addition of “of Hamas.” I always grab keys, wallet, phone, and Sharpie when I go out these days.
