Ben Chang, Columbia’s spokesperson, announced the students occupying Hamilton Hall *face* expulsion.
The wording is crucial. They aren’t expelled…yet.
I laughed when he said, “Our top priority is restoring safety and order on our campus.”
Except…they’re not because they’re not doing anything:
We made it very clear yesterday that the work of the University cannot be endlessly interrupted by protesters who violate the rules. Continuing to do so will be met with clear consequences. Protesters have chosen to escalate the untenable situation – vandalizing property, breaking doors and windows, and blockading entrances – and we are following through with the consequences we outlined yesterday.
Then expel them!!!
One protester said the mob wants humanitarian aid.
Bring us food!!
As Mike says in a QT today…Columbia is lost.
Columbia University Apartheid Divest lost it last night, breaking into Hamilton Hall and terrorizing people.
They renamed it Hind’s Hall after Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old supposedly killed by Israeli forces.
They demand divestment, financial transparency, and amnesty.
One facilities worker said, “They held me hostage.”
The mob assaulted students, trying to protect the building.
