White House: Biden Did Not Apologize for Using Illegal to Describe Laken Riley’s Alleged Murderer

Technically, the White House is correct.

Language matters. The White House said President Joe Biden never apologized for using the word illegal to describe Laken Riley’s alleged murderer.

I am glad Stacey correctly quoted Biden in her title: Joe Biden ‘Regrets’ Using ‘Illegal’ to Describe Illegal Alien Who Allegedly Murdered Laken Riley

Biden told MSNBC:

“So, you regret using that word?” Capehart asked.

“Yes,” Biden responded.

Law has made me more distrustful of language. Let’s dissect the word “regrets.” The word regret appears in one definition of the word apology. It is also offered as a synonym for the word sorry.

But the definition of regret says, “feel sad, repentant, or disappointment over” an action, words, loss, etc.

Using the word “regrets” allows Biden to tell the right that he did not apologize and to tell the left that he did apologize. He can pander to everyone.

However, people are used to two phrases regarding an apology: “I’m sorry” and “I apologize.”

To me, Biden’s “regrets” statement is more like a “Whoops, my bad.” He didn’t apologize. He just “corrected” himself.

Either way, Biden should not have corrected himself because, in reality, he did not correct himself. Riley’s alleged murderer is an illegal alien. The left uses the word “undocumented” to shield them from the crime.

Comments

Biden was criticized for referring to an alledged murderer who came into this country illegally and is charged with murder of a young girl by bashing her head in.

Biden said, “I’m not going to treat any, any, any of these people with disrespect . . . Look, they built the country.”

“You’re so weird. You respect criminals but not decent people. Why didn’t you treat Clarence Thomas or Robert Bork with respect .”

Biden, “Look, I am not going to Bork an undocumented alien who just killed someone, okay. I have to treat my constituency with respect.”

Is biden able to string together more than 2 sentences without telling a lie?

SURVEY SAYS ::: Number 1 answer. 67% of the voters say “NO”.

…. nor did Biden apologize for calling her “Lincoln”.

You can’t keep up with it without a scorecard.

these people are not illegal aliens; they are invaders.
question is: how are the citizens of the United States of America going to deal with these invaders since it has become more than obvious that our government does not intend to take any action whatsoever other than to encourage more of them to come here and break the law.

There is a census coming up. By importing millions of illegals, even flying 30,000 a month at our expense into the country, Brandon hoping not to lose any Congressional seats in blue states since everyone is leaving.

Tribalism, ya gotta love it

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

Hey, what’s bout them ledged murderers?

Yes he did. Biden is trying to renege on past comments again. FJB!!!

Well of course the old pedophile didn’t apologize for the one truth he told during his state of the disunion

Open borders biden policies murdered Laken Riley.

Say her name!

Laken Riley vs George Floyd

“In an emotional video message played at George Floyd’s funeral Joe Biden offered his condolences to Floyd’s family. Biden also met privately with Floyd’s family during the public viewing funeral that was held on Monday in Houston.”

Laken Riley’s life was worth every bit as much as George Floyd’s. But instead of honoring her, Joe Biden’s thoughts are going out to illegal alien Jose Ibarra.

Not buying it. The definition of “apology” is “a written or spoken expression of one’s regret, remorse, or sorrow for having insulted, failed, injured, or wronged another”; an admission of error or discourtesy accompanied by an expression of regret; an act of saying that you are sorry for something wrong you have done; an oral or written expression of regret or contrition for a fault or failing.

So yes, this was an apology. Unless when he denies it he means it in the sense of a formal defense, as in apologetics.

But you really should consider the full context of the circumstances before truly understanding the meaning of the word “is”.

Seems a lot more like an apology than the “non-pologies” we usually get from lefties, where they basically say they are sorry we were offended but never acknowledge they’ve done anything wrong or express any regret over their own actions.

In this case, he’s saying he was wrong to have used the (actually, legally correct) term “illegal”.

An apology consists of acknowledging you committed a wrong, and expressing regret at having done so.

Biden, in the above statement, clearly fulfills both of those conditions.

I’d have to say, yes, Biden clearly apologized for calling this illegal alien an “illegal”.

Bonus: He has yet to apologize for botching the name of the murder victim.

So, the outrage over this is entirely justified.

And that doesn’t even begin to cover his statement that “they” (referring to illegals) “built this country”. Bizarre that that statement isn’t getting more play.

More BS from the WH.

From dementia comes truth – when it’s something everyone is supposed to lie about.
