Media ‘Bloodbath’ Hoax: No, Trump Did Not Say Civil War Would Break Out If He Lost Election

“We’re going to put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars. If I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not gonna sell those cars.”

The mainstream media absolutely lost their minds over the weekend after a speech 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump made during a campaign stop in Ohio Saturday.

Specifically, they zeroed in on the word “bloodbath,” which he used to describe what would happen to the auto industry if he wasn’t elected.

Before we get to their fake news reporting, here’s what Trump said in context (transcribed from video):

“Mexico has taken, over a period of 30 years, 34 percent of the automobile manufacturing business in our country. China now is building a couple of massive plants, where they’re going to build the cars in Mexico and they think that they’re going to sell those cars into the United States with no tax at the border.

Let me tell you something to China. If you’re listening, President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal, those big, monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re going to get that, you’re going to not hire Americans, and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no.

We’re going to put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars – if I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it. But they’re not gonna sell those cars.”

Watch:

Clearly, he wasn’t talking about how he believed a civil war would happen in the United States if he wasn’t elected. But, similar to the “very fine people” hoax they perpetuated, the MSM spun his “bloodbath” comments in their reports to suggest that’s exactly what he was saying. Not surprisingly, Democrats, including Joe Biden and his reelection campaign, took the ball and ran with it:

Left out of their hyperventilating write-ups, of course, was not just the context but also the fact that “bloodbath” can mean many things:

This is something the MSM apparently only understands when they are using the term:

It’s a term Democrats have used many times over the years, too:

Lastly, never forget:

Hard pass.

I don’t think Trump knows exactly what he means when he talks. I think he’s a child who just fancied he liked the sound of “bloodbath” so blurted it out. That’s about the level of his thought process and self control.

You could stop at “I don’t think” with your statement.

      E Howard Hunt in reply to herm2416. | March 19, 2024 at 8:45 am

Trump wouldn’t give you the sweat from his armpit if you were dying of thirst in the desert. The country needs a true conservative and patriot, not this idiot whose only plus is he isn’t as bad as Biden.

Perhaps you should reread the post, then ruminate over the abuse of the word “gravitas” for a while.

Whitewall in reply to E Howard Hunt. | March 19, 2024 at 8:51 am

Agreed. That is too often his problem, he leads with his chin. A poor speaker and an undisciplined thinker hands the enemy everything they want and then the voters are hit with what we just got. This won’t stop because Trump doesn’t know any better. Senile Joe Biden can skate right back into office on this alone.

So everybody who ever used the word are childen who fancy the sound of “bloodbath” so they blurt it out??

Where were you when Joe Biden described the primary against Sanders as a bloodbath?? Sleeping??

It’s quite hilarious that Progressives are hyperventilating about Trump saying something many Progressives have said before.

My take, I’ve said this before: The Orange Crush has an odd, feral intelligence, not primarily driven in language, or in his prefrontal cortex.

The evidence is he comes up with things that work spectacularly, yet don’t track with standard use of language, or thinking in step-wise rules. It’s like chess masters, who don’t have to think most of it through one move at a time: they don’t see the bad moves, do see weird good moves, somehow.

He did New York real estate, brand and broader development, reality TV (elevating his personal brand with every step). US national politics was a step down, in navigating encroaching forces. When he screws up; he’s *unaware* of oddities in How The Thing Works because he hasn’t been in in: you can’t explain it to him, that’s not how he learns. I have a story from the abortive exercise to onshore drug precursor chemical production to Kodak — he got rolled, because he didn’t understand how those folks do “business.”

And then I feel you have no idea as to what you are talking about. Trump talks to the average man, thankfully those of us with excessive intelligence can understand him.

Hunt is an outright liar, as all deranged Trump haters are.

Anyone that wishes to take the time can find numerous instances of Trump’s kindness to others, and doing so without making any political hay with it.

The level of Hunt’s thought process is similar to a gnats.
    With apologies to gnats.

Trump should troll them with dual use words until the election. Give them rope.

Dimsdale in reply to Oracle. | March 19, 2024 at 7:34 am

Unfortunately, the media seems to control the definitions of words…..after instructions from the DNC/WH.

Trump was using the word ‘bloodbath’ to describe the impact on the US automotive industry and US automotive workers. A fair reading of his transcript shows this. Any honest person would acknowledge this.

The legacy media and the d/prog ain’t fair minded or honest. They will use every instance of imprecise language by Trump to paint a dark image. Expect more of this as the Presidential contest unfolds b/c Trump has a long history of choosing a bombastic communication style often using imprecise language which will be used to put him in the worst light possible for low info voters.

The scare part is that there are millions of pathetic news consumers who actually believe these lies. MSM viewers are reminiscent of Pinocchio’s girlfriend who was overheard during an intimate interaction gasping, “Lie to me, baby! Lie to me!”

I worry more about what happens from the left when he wins.

Whitewall in reply to scooterjay. | March 19, 2024 at 8:57 am

That is the unspoken worry. Democrats will up their violent ways to eleven if they somehow lose. It may be so bad that the Inauguration can’t be held….at least not in DC. Maybe somewhere way out on the American side of the Beltway.

    Fat_Freddys_Cat in reply to scooterjay. | March 19, 2024 at 8:57 am

I’m concerned about what the Left will do regardless of who wins. I think the upper levels of the Left would like to “fix” those of us who vote “wrong”.

      ColonizerChef in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | March 19, 2024 at 11:05 am

I worry about what the left is up to and what they will do before the election, to blame ultra-MAGA Republicans, and then have the chattering idiots in the media spew it 24/7 so the uninformed and stupid can lap it up like kittens at a bowl of milk. At this point, those voting for Biden have already made up their mind, and those voting for Trump have already drawn their own conclusions.

Those who stay home have also made up their mind.

The only poll that counts is in November. But, the manufacturing of bogus ballots from mass mailing will make the difference.

I will vote for Trump. My deceased father will vote for whoever obtains his ballot through fraudulent means.

Politics is a rough business, and the most schadenfreude-alicious thing this year are the mass layoffs of hundreds of journalists.

Encore!

Example 1432: the US Media sucks. It is worthless.

Mitt Romney: “Jan 6 will be four years old by the election. People have processed it, one way or another, Biden needs fresh material, a new attack, rather than kicking a dead political horse.”

But the D’s have nothing else. All they can do is keep trying to resuscitate the horse.

“Trump threatens to crush Biden in a landslide!!! Prosecute now!!!”

You figure that people that brag how smart they are as they put down others would not keep getting duped.

there are so many people who don’t speak English in this country (the U.S.A.) anymore; teachers have been instructed to teach about
1. DEI
2. transpersonalities
and those teachers who wish to destroy the U.S.A. by making the country into a multi-national land mass.
A quick trip to the dictionary would inform the illiterate masses:
bloodbath:
(figuratively, business) A large financial loss or massive layoff brought about by negative economic conditions.
“The Donald” was right on; he was talking about what would happen to the Mexican economy, unless AMLO thinks he could sell those cars back to Xi.

The threat of Civil war doesn’t come from Trump if he loses
It comes from us if the succeed in stealing it.

“In the wake of the controversy stirred up by former President Donald Trump’s use of the word “bloodbath,” Democrats issued a statement to clarify that they’re OK with a bloodbath as long as it’s just from killing unborn children.”

“We don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. Not all bloodbaths are necessarily bad,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. “While we take exception to Donald Trump’s shocking and horrifying use of the term ‘bloodbath,’ we are absolutely on board with keeping the bloodbath of murdering unborn infants going in perpetuity. The bloodbath of infanticide is, in fact, the lifeblood of our party.” (Babylon Bee)

BierceAmbrose | March 19, 2024 at 4:03 pm

The detractors take Trump “literally, but not seriously.” The supporters take him “seriously, but not literally”, as Salena Zito coined before the 2016 election.

The anti- folks haven’t figured that out. Their screeching is just self-reinforcement. If they thought they needed to convert any of the deplorably supporters, they might try to understand.

That they don’t try to convert, let alone understand, the supporters shows they don’t think they need any more than their own cabal to win. Given the polls, makes one wonder how they think “winning” will work.

I don’t get the whole controversy. Suppose he had said that if he isn’t elected there’ll be blood flowing in the streets. So what? It might be a tactless thing to say, but why would it be wrong or outrageous?

He wouldn’t be threatening a bloodbath, he’d be predicting one, warning us it, urging us to avoid it.

In that scenario, who would be carrying out this bloodbath? Not his supporters. That would make no sense. If he had made this prediction and it had come true, his supporters would be the victims, not the perpetrators. He would be warning us that the Dems would go the full dictatorship, round up dissenters, come for the guns, and the kind of people he’s appealing to would have no choice but to defend themselves.

Now I think that would be a wild exaggeration, but how would it be different from what they’ve been telling us about him for years? How would it be different from Biden’s infamous Red Speech two years ago? Politicians have been making exaggerated warnings about what their opponents would do if elected, ever since there were elections. Look at the mutual accusations in 1796 and 1800. Or look at the infamous ad against Goldwater, or all the accusations in 1980 about what Reagan would do if elected. Or the dire warnings on our side of what an 0bama presidency would bring (oh, wait, those turned out to be true).

I don’t get the whole controversy.

There is no controversy. It’s just the standard Mockingbird Media defamation against Trump on a day ending in “y”.

CaptTee in reply to Milhouse. | March 20, 2024 at 5:28 pm

Agree. A bloodbath would only occur, if Trump lost and the Democrats continued their progressive path to a full blown commie inspired dictatorship.

If a Democrat says that a Republican said something, and you did not hear the Republican say it yourself, your immediate default position should be to question it!

This is hilarious, the immediate context is talking about elections the wider context is a man who incited an insurrection and spread lies about 2020. Too funny
