DeSantis May Send Haitian Migrants Arriving in Florida to Martha’s Vineyard

“We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently said that if migrants from Haiti end up in Florida, he is open to sending them to the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time he has done something like this.

DeSantis made the comments during an appearance on the Dana Loesch show.

Politico reports:

DeSantis: Flying Haitian migrants to Martha’s Vineyard is on the table

Gov. Ron DeSantis suggested Tuesday that Florida could sponsor a new wave of migrant flights, this time using the controversial state-funded program to transport Haitians who enter the U.S. after fleeing the chaos unfolding in the island nation.

The comments, made during an appearance on a podcast hosted by conservative radio host Dana Loesch, come as Florida braces for a potential influx of Haitian migrants entering the state, which has one of the largest populations of Haitians and Haitian-Americans in the U.S.

“We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational,” the Republican governor said. “Haitians land in the Florida Keys, their next stop very well may be Martha’s Vineyard.”

DeSantis, alongside Florida’s GOP senators, have been pressing the Biden administration to enact stricter immigration policies amid the political upheaval in Haiti and reports of gangs committing jailbreaks, releasing possibly scores of criminals onto the streets. So far, Florida has not seen a huge influx of migrants from Haiti even as the country descends into violence and citizens face homelessness and hunger.

Watch the clip below:

Martha’s Vineyard would be a great destination for migrants from Haiti or any other country.

The locals are even busy working on learning about microaggressions.

The Martha’s Vineyard Times reports:

Local panel discusses microaggressions

It was standing room only Sunday at the M.V. Hebrew Center for a NAACP-organized discussion on the topic of microaggressions, and how more conversation about the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle hints of racism is needed on the Island.

The panel discussion was titled “Subtle Acts of Microaggression.” Moderator Carole Copeland Thomas, president and CEO of C. Thomas and Associates, described microaggressions as the everyday slights, insults, invalidations, and offensive behaviors directed toward members of marginalized groups by people who might or might not be conscious of what they are doing and saying.

“They need to be discussed and understood, just like we need to appreciate diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, multiculturalism, and other topics, with unapologetic pride,” Copeland emphasized at Sunday’s event.

Among the topics were how to recognize microaggressions, how to respond, and who should be responsible for taking a stand.

Wealthy white liberals in Martha’s Vineyard could learn a great deal about microaggressions from poor migrants escaping Haiti, don’t you think?

Word travels fast. They’re already heading for their boats.

No he won’t!

I think he should send them to that city we all call ‘The Port-Au-Prince of America’, as it’s Mayor, Eric Adams, has reminded us.

Or he can send them back to Haiti. You know they will not stay in the vineyard. They will be shipped to the mainland and left to fester.

Stop the infighting. Get these people out. It’s too late to campaign Ron

Yes, but they’re the problem of Massachusetts and the people there get to decide how much they like being stolen from and murdered by people who shouldn’t be here.

TargaGTS in reply to SeymourButz. | March 20, 2024 at 1:49 pm

Have you not been paying attention to what’s going on in Texas? How is he going to send them back to Haiti? Does the state of Florida have their own navy? The US government can’t even get Americans out of Haiti (commercial air service is limited or even non-existent at the moment as the airport is wholly unsafe).

ChrisPeters in reply to SeymourButz. | March 20, 2024 at 2:51 pm

No idea why anyone would down-vote this.

I understand and appreciate the political effect of shipping illegals to the various areas that claim to be “sanctuaries”, but as you point out, those illegals are eventually cared for and/or allowed to simply disappear with no way to find them and deport them.

It is best to deport them now.

Go to Haiti. Go directly to Haiti. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Milhouse in reply to SeymourButz. | March 21, 2024 at 9:03 am

No, he can’t send them back to Haiti. Not even if they wanted to go, and of course they don’t want to go or they’d have stayed there in the first place. So how could he possibly send them there? Kidnap them by force?!

Seriously! Don’t keep sending them around the country! SHIP THEM BACK!!
      Stop the games.

        rwingjr in reply to DelightLaw1. | March 21, 2024 at 10:59 pm

The thing here is that Haiti has collapsed into a gang-run country and these people are fleeing it. They probably have a legitimate claim to parole or asylum in the US so they aren’t considered illegal. Shipping them back would possibly be sending them to their death. There is a difference between what has been going on with the illegal immigration along the southern border and those fleeing Haiti. Hopefully, they will remain in the US just until it is safe for them to return.

        Milhouse in reply to DelightLaw1. | March 24, 2024 at 7:35 am

Ship them back how? That would be kidnapping and would get everyone involved a long prison sentence, from the governor on down.

Clinton sent little Ilian Gomez back to Cuba, so what’s the problem?

        Milhouse in reply to DelightLaw1. | March 24, 2024 at 7:37 am

His father, who legally had the right to make decisions for him, demanded that he be sent back. So he was sent back “of his own free will”, at least as far as the law was concerned.

These people can’t be sent next door without their consent, let alone back to Haiti.

Dimsdale in reply to SeymourButz. | March 21, 2024 at 9:58 am

Just start sinking the boats, as close to Haiti as possible.

Seriously! Don’t keep sending them around the country! SHIP THEM BACK!!
    Stop the games.

hope he does ….

UnCivilServant | March 20, 2024 at 1:13 pm

We should disable their boats, tow them to within swimming distance of Haitian shores and leave them there.

henrybowman in reply to UnCivilServant. | March 20, 2024 at 11:07 pm

Nah. he should disable the Martha’s Vineyard ferry, THEN airlift them in.

In any event, his timing sucks. The strategy is to airlift them at the onset of the winter season, when residents’ claims that there’s “just no room at the inn” are lies obvious to all.

UnCivilServant in reply to henrybowman. | March 20, 2024 at 11:46 pm

I don’t want them setting foot on American Soil – I expecially don’t want them shipped further in for the purpose of dunking on political rivals.

Milhouse in reply to UnCivilServant. | March 21, 2024 at 9:05 am

They’re here. Now what do you expect Desantis to do about them? He can’t force them to go anywhere they don’t want to go. So his only option is to offer them a free trip to some place they want to go that isn’t Florida.

Dimsdale in reply to Milhouse. | March 21, 2024 at 9:59 am

How about adopting Texas’ new immigration policies, now backed by SCOTUS?

henrybowman in reply to Milhouse. | March 21, 2024 at 10:19 am

Until they get the necessary state laws in place, the next best thing is to make the walkins Island Sweepstakes Winners.

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | March 22, 2024 at 7:01 am

          Dimsdale

SCOTUS did NOT rule on the merits of the case re TX only on the question of the type of injuction. They dissolved the injuction that was in place, that’s all. The case went back to the 5th Circuit so no final ruling has been made.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | March 24, 2024 at 7:40 am

Texas’s policies are not backed by SCOTUS, not even a little bit.

Do you honestly expect them to stay in a war-ravaged country? I don’t believe you know the difference between illegal immigration and legal sanctuary. These are people escaping violence, just as many citizens in Ukraine went to other European countries seeking sanctuary. Now if the ones who are committing the violence try to come here, then we don’t need to accept them.

Don’t just talk about it. DO IT, and when they whine about it, DO IT MORE.

How is this NOT considered an invasion when we have triple the amount of illegals here now than the number of troops landing in Normandy in 1944?

Trading one island nation for another island. Invite all of them to MV. Does Obama still need a new chef?

I agree that although it’s wickedly satisfying to see the Martha’s Vineyard uber wealthy libtards show their derrières, these criminals need to be returned to where they came from. If this were done consistently, it would send the best possible message.

You gotta love DeSantis; speaking as a Floridian, we think he is #1 BEST Gov. but this shameful illegal alien stuff has to change in a big way! Anyone caught as an illegal, especially in Red states, should be returned pronto!. Just cruise the hospital Emergency rooms and stop to check all landscapers for ID and boot them all back to their country of origin.

As the Mariel Boat Lift proved almost 40-years ago, it’s effectively impossible to stop a boat lift of civilians. Florida is going to be inundated and unfortunately, because there’s already a robust Haitian population in Miami, I suspect most of those who make it to American waters will never leave Miami. So, it’s going to go exactly as Biden (or his handlers) have been planning it. It’s a two-pronged assault with one front in Texas and another soon to be in South Floirda.

bhwms in reply to TargaGTS. | March 21, 2024 at 3:19 pm

Morality aside for a moment, FDR did it with Jews fleeing Europe. It *can* be done. It just requires determination and some ingenuity.

For example, you could stage a boat leaving for Florida in sight of Haiti and sink it with a torpedo. Post it on social media & warn anyone attempting to illegally enter the US via the water that they will suffer the same fate. Will the current criminals running the asylum in DC do that? No. But let’s not rule out the possible by saying it’s impossible.

Spread them out. DC, Boston, NYC, Denver, Beverley Hills…

ChrisPeters in reply to geronl. | March 20, 2024 at 3:56 pm

With respect, it is better to get them out than to spread them out.

WTPuck in reply to ChrisPeters. | March 20, 2024 at 4:59 pm

If they can. Otherwise, on to plan B.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to ChrisPeters. | March 20, 2024 at 8:01 pm

What you say is true. But for some of the short-term thinkers making comments here, they want to clap their hands with Glee as these sanctuary cities overflow with Haitians. The problem is the Haitians will spread out, and infect other locations.

As for Martha’s vineyard, come on people. Martha’s vineyard is not exclusively populated by the wealthy. There’s a lot of hard-working people there that can barely make ends meet, and they don’t need the additional burden of the crime and everything else that the Haitians will bring with them.

henrybowman in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | March 20, 2024 at 11:09 pm

They still vote Democrat. They still deserve the agita.

bhwms in reply to henrybowman. | March 21, 2024 at 3:23 pm

Voting isn’t the point (yet). As long as these illegals are present in the country, they will be counted in the census, which will change the apportionment of congressional seats. This is about creating a permanent majority in the House of Representatives and consequently, the Presidency. After they have that permanent setup, they will do all the unpopular things like amnesty and citizenship, and America will be over.

CommoChief in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | March 21, 2024 at 6:23 am

The illegal aliens may spread out to other jurisdictions BUT some jurisdictions make it much more difficult for illegal aliens to prosper, some are downright unwelcoming.

The voters in these unwelcoming jurisdictions made clear choices at the local and State level to elect politicians who would put the interests of US Citizens and lawful residents before those of illegal aliens. It is similar to installing quality locks and a simple security system on a home, these basic passive deterrents work to push criminals down the street to a less secure house.

The voters in other jurisdictions are free to do the same. Until they do so these areas and especially the ‘sanctuary’ cities/States will likely attract a higher number/proportion of illegal aliens. Sanctuary jurisdictions and especially the woke, leftist voters in them with the ‘in this house we believe…’signs proclaiming their superior virtue can hardly be upset that illegal aliens answered their advertising and showed up to what the voters claimed was a welcoming area.

It was standing room only Sunday at the M.V. Hebrew Center for a NAACP-organized discussion on the topic of microaggressions …

Why do we do and allow these shameful things that make people hate us and get us nothing in return, not even good will when the chips are down? Let them find somewhere else to teach those who want to learn all about microaggressions.

MV seems like the ideal sort of destination. Climate is a bit different, but it’s an island, there’s another similar island paired with it (Nantucket) so think of Haiti and the DR. Lots of similarities, and they will welcome the opportunity to help!

I love the idea, and hoe he follows through.

The following is off topic, posted here because I cannot start a thread. Also, I don’t know how relevant it is to this audience. It is for those who get out into the countryside, especially in the South and the West, and run across ticks. Hikers, campers, it is something to watch out for.

There has been a breakthrough in the treatment of alpha-gal syndrome, a nasty, life changing allergy to mammal meat spread by the lone star tick native to Texas and thereabouts, but which appears to be spreading to other tick species. And no, there is no conspiracy or political angle.

The details are somewhat complex, but there is now a cure. If this is of interest, I can say much more.

DeSantis has sent

ONE

That’s right

ONE

bus load to MV and then got cold feet when they, being Biden, threatened him

This non stop push for all things DeSantis…

Sad, really

ChrisPeters in reply to gonzotx. | March 20, 2024 at 3:59 pm

You no longer need to trash DeSantis. He has already dropped out of the race and is not a threat to your darling Trump . . .

    . . . unless Trump loses in ’24 and decides to run again . . .

“Now let me get back to perpetually blowing Donald Trump…”

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | March 20, 2024 at 4:11 pm

It was two plane loads not a bus. Then there’s the ongoing impact of the legislation DeSantis rammed through in FL which requires use of E-Verify, mandates hospitals ask immigration status, invalidates out of State DL or ID issued to illegal aliens and denies State or local govt funds to any entity issuing ID to any illegal alien.

All those combined make it much more difficult for illegal aliens in FL and many hit the road to other jurisdictions. IOW making it hot for illegal aliens caused those who didn’t want to risk getting burned to self deport out of FL to other more welcoming States…usually up North where leftist have mostly wrecked their own States and many Yankees flee to the South to escape the folly.

gonzotx in reply to CommoChief. | March 20, 2024 at 4:24 pm

It was 50 illegal ls, that’s a very small plane, so 2 planes “filled with a total of 50 illegals

A greyhound bus , about the same

Most airline planes like 737 have over 200 seats, so don’t make it bigger than it was and it was a ONE time deal

      One time

      Flight high heels

“INT BASE CAPE COD — Shortly after noon Friday, a group of migrants, mostly originating from Venezuela, arrived at their new temporary home on Cape Cod after an unexpected arrival Wednesday on Martha’s Vineyard.

Officials have been working to house, feed and support the group of about 50 migrants since they arrived on the wealthy Massachusetts island Wednesday afternoon“

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | March 20, 2024 at 6:37 pm

Yeah two smaller commuter style chartered aircraft carried 50 illegals up to MV. Doesn’t change the positive impact for FL of the legislation I outlined which you seem to keep ignoring time after time. Nor do address that DeSantis has $12+ million appropriation from the Legislature to transport more illegal aliens. Nor do you ever seem to give credit for DeSantis or other GoP Governors like Alabama Gov Kay Ivy sending National Guard and LEO to assist TX.

The primary is over. Time to unify and to stop attacking effective GoP political figures.

Gosport in reply to gonzotx. | March 20, 2024 at 6:55 pm

DeSantis flew 2 planeloads of illegals to Martha’s Vineyard, Just like he flew 2 planeloads to Sacramento, Ca. They picked up the illegals in San Antonio by the way.

Why fly? Because that way it got the media attention Florida wanted it to get.

bhwms in reply to gonzotx. | March 21, 2024 at 3:27 pm

5, 50, or 500 – doesn’t matter. What does matter is he caused the leftists in Massachusetts and the “tut tut” NY-DC-CA crowd to melt down in utter apoplexy. That was a serious PR win for our side.

RandomCrank in reply to gonzotx. | March 21, 2024 at 1:32 pm

A bus load to MV, you say. Was that an amphibious bus, then? LOL

That is not what happened. DeSantis has been using our (i.e. Free Floridians’) cash and resources to support Abbott’s sending illegals to sanctuary cities. We are not a border state, so we don’t round them up as is done in Texas (though he is all over the Haitians trying to enter Florida by boat). He also sent some of our National Guard to help Texas with ITS border. AND he has been very active in making Florida horribly unattractive to illegals (a good thing): https://twitter.com/GovRonDeSantis/status/1768743900728934615

The primaries are over, and DeSantis is a FANTASTIC governor. Move on. Or at least get your facts straight.

Milhouse in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | March 24, 2024 at 7:46 am

We are not a border state, so we don’t round them up as is done in Texas

They are not being rounded up in Texas. That would be kidnapping.

DeSantis sends illegal Haitians to Martha’s Vineyard then deploys the Florida National Guard to blow up the airport and bomb the ferry terminal trapping the Sanctuary Leftists on the island with voodoo and cannibalism.

Total Boss move. Hey, Brandon, How are those open borders working for your virtue signaling progressives now?

We cud always use drones to make napalm strikes at sea..
/jk. I think

The first groups should be sent to Chappaqua first, the Clinton’s should reap the fruits of their success in Haiti before any other town.

I wonder if James Taylor will welcome them with a Carole King song.

If Martha’s Vineyard cannot take in all of the new Democrats, take them up to Gloucester and Rockport, where the “beautiful people” live.

I’d to see the face of the elitists’ when the buses start showing up…

I can provide John Kerry’s MVY address if needed. Front lawn, tents, port a potties.

No, no, no.

Send them to Rehoboth Beach so Babblin’ Joe can check on ’em every weekend. Plenty of room on the boardwalk.
