DeSantis: Law Enforcement Seized Boat of Haitians Who had Guns, Drugs, Night Vision Gear

“Given the situation that’s happening in Haiti, some brutal reports that are happening, we want to make sure that we’re protecting Floridians.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that state law enforcement seized a boat off the shore with 25 Haitians who had firearms, drugs, and night vision gear.

From Fox News:

“Our Florida Fish and Wildlife offices interdicted a vessel that had 25 illegal immigrants, potential illegal immigrants from Haiti in their boat. In their vessel they had firearms, they had drugs, they had night vision gear and were boating very recklessly, which would potentially endanger other folks,” DeSantis said, adding that the interdiction had occurred “recently” in the last few weeks.

“That vessel was interdicted near the Sebastian Inlet and those illegal aliens were turned over to the Coast Guard for deportation,” he said.

The incident happened on February 29.

DeSantis made the announcement when he signed legislation to counter any possible illegal immigration due to Haiti spiraling into turmoil. He expects to see more Haitians along the Florida Keys:

The group sent to the Keys includes a mix of Florida Department of Law Enforcement and FWC officers along with members of the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard.

The state will also deploy four helicopters, a plane, eight seacraft and drones to help interdict migrants.

“Given the situation that’s happening in Haiti, some brutal reports that are happening, we want to make sure that we’re protecting Floridians,” DeSantis said Friday.

DeSantis also told the media that Florida has been working with the U.S. Coast Guard since January 2023 to patrol the shores to stop illegal immigrants.

They’ve stop 670 vessels with over 13,500 people.

In other words, they’ll soon be arriving at a home near you, with a free cell phone.

Ask yourself who gains from this. A few decades ago you would have remembered Russia saying they would take the US without firing a shot. That is not the case now.

Anyone else suspect the US government choreographed the chaos in Haiti to facilitate importing Haitians in the America and dispersing them to the winds?

The boat should have been blown out of the water. Period.

That seems a little on the harsh side of strict.

Not really. They weren’t coming here for the beaches. Clearly, there was bad intent.

Best to drag their disabled boat out 20 miles and let the Gulf Stream take them….or the Bermuda Triangle.

I am feeling strict these days, Chief. Between the southern and northern borders, and the “refugees” from Haiti, my country is being taken away at a faster and faster pace. /not my down-tick.

No doubt and that I don’t disagree with. I would be in favor of basing a couple of Carrier battle groups in the Gulf maybe Mobile and Galveston along with one in the south Atlantic maybe Savannah to protect our interests.

I do have a great many qualms about a militarized LEO with a sort of shoot first and ask questions later operational philosophy. IMO, Police officers should be there to keep the peace aka peace officers v law enforcement officers. That’s a very big philosophical difference.

Open borders biden going “resettle” million haitians into florida to try to flip the state blue??

I’m really looking forward to a firmly worded tweet from DJT on this!

I’m looking forward to the reinstatement of the numerous executive policies that DJT had in place during his last term which severely restricted illegal immigration. You know, the same policies that the corrupt, grifting dotard Joe Biden* immediately rescinded upon taking office.

The LEO’s should have taken all weapons, ammo, NVG, fuel, water, and food from them. Then they should have towed them to Haiti and cut them loose on the rising tide with a 6″ hole in the bottom of the boat.

One can buy bags of dried blood and re-hydrate it at the same time to encourage Olympic like swimming skills as they race to shore.

The “blood” in blood meal refers to the blood that is a by-product of the slaughtering that occurs at meat packing plants. It is most often cow blood but can be the blood of any animal slaughtered for its meat. The blood is dried into a powder before being packaged for sale as blood meal.

I would be all for the weapons and ammo to be distributed to non-prohibited Floridians. They’re the ones who will need them.

I went from admiring DeSantis from afar, to becoming his constituent (as of 3/15/24). The financial and quality-of-life benefits of living in a low-tax, well-managed state such as Florida, cannot be denied.

Coming from the corrupt cesspool of the D.C. Swamp, it is a huge change in lifestyle and atmosphere.

Trump and his supporters here at LI will be against this, because, well, it shows that DeSantis is more effective in real life politics than Trump ever was.

This is wishful thinking on your part. DeSantis is good for the state of Florida but rejected nationally. He turned out to be a big fish there who thought he could compete much bigger fish, We will see how he matures as he gets more experience.
