Biden Administration and Media Drag Cookie Monster Into Narrative About Shrinkflation

“He pointed out his cookies are getting smaller, but he’s paying the same price. I was stunned when I found out that’s what actually happened.”

Joe Biden’s ridiculous Super Bowl video about shrinkflation was apparently a preview of the State of the Union address he will give this week. The whole thing is based on the absurd Warren/Sanders notion that shrinkflation is caused by corporate greed and not progressive economic policies.

To make things even dumber, the Biden White House and some media outlets have now dragged Cookie Monster of Sesame Street fame into the narrative after the character’s Twitter account complained about the shrinking size of cookies.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Biden amplifies Cookie Monster complaints as he blames companies for ‘shrinkflation’

President Joe Biden is name-checking the Cookie Monster as part of his latest attempt to convince the public his administration is doing all it can to counter rising consumer prices before November’s general election, more broadly blaming companies and not his economic policies.

“Some of the small snack companies think you won’t even notice what they are doing when they charge you just as much for the same size bag of potato chips, only there’s a hell of a lot fewer chips in it,” Biden told his White House Competition Council on Tuesday.

“I’ll tell you who did notice: the Cookie Monster,” the president said. “He pointed out his cookies are getting smaller, but he’s paying the same price. I was stunned when I found out that’s what actually happened.”

During his Competition Council’s sixth meeting, Biden announced the creation of a strike force, co-chaired by the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission, which will be responsible for addressing unfair and illegal pricing.

“We’re putting companies on notice. If you keep prices high while engaging in illegal practices that are fraudulent, unfair, deceptive, or anti-competitive, we will enforce the law, and you will be held accountable,” Biden said.

Here’s the White House quote tweeting Cookie Monster.

And here is the President of the United States commenting on Cookie Monster’s concern about economic issues.

The Associated Press, which has become just awful, fell right into line on this.

As did Good Morning America.

None of this is by accident.

Last word goes to Stephen L. Miller.

Botched attempt to trivialize the issue of inflation. Trying to frame the issue of inflation as something children cry over like smaller cookies. It makes biden look more like dotard.

Using a Sesame Street puppet has only proved to me what a pathetic joke the circus Obama put Biden in charge of really is…

I guess u need puppets to message liberals. That is why Joey puppet got elected.

His staff has him counting his ice cream cone licks to buttress the argument.

We are now at Clown World to the fourth power.

I think we are beyond simple exponential change. The equation is (X)Y² where X is the initial insanity, and Y is the number of days in power.

My issue isn’t taking advantage of Cookie Monster to endorse Biden, but to do so using faulty data and facts. I still sigh over things my own very smart kids still believe about Covid in spite of mountains of research that show it is wrong. This “lie” is worse because it picks the wrong bad guy for scorn. The outcome, is smart kids who would be future business leaders get the message that commerce is evil and to avoid it – that will cause a serious decline in the economy of the US when no one is a producer.

I’d often wondered who is running economic policy for Biden.

Bags of corporate greed are larger though.

Give a democrat a fish and he’ll eat for a day
Teach a democrat to fish and he’ll steal your rod, take your wallet, sexually assault the fish and blame it on Trump… 🙂

The cookies should’ve stayed the same size and the price increased instead, then Democrats wouldn’t have anything to complain about.

Just kidding.

It takes a puppet to know a puppet. …. Whose hand is in Cookie Monster? Obama, Jarrett or Rice?

We had best direct our attention and outrage at Amazon. My Cookie Monster ate paperboard cookies and Amazon has exponentially raised the price of paperboard thanks to their eco-unfriendly shipping empire.

TBH, I noticed this phenomenon a number of years ago, long before the pedo pervert started squatting at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave… packaging getting smaller while the price remains unchanged.

I tend to compare the price per “ounce” or whatever anyhow. Any way you slice it, things are more expensive!

“C” is for “Confidence Man,” which is what vile crime boss, Biden, and, every other Dhimmi-crat, is. Pure, unrepentant and mendacious hustlers, to their evil cores.

As things (cookies, for example) become more expensive to produce ($20/hr for burger-flippers), a manufacturer has three ways to go:
1. raise the price
2. decrease the size of the container
3. stop producing the item

    4. Automation

I am a big fan of automation, you can produce identical products with ease and without disease…all free of Human error and devoid of emotion.

Without cookies, he’s just a monster. Just like Joe.

Completely defund PBS. Even childrens programming like sesame street is now being used for politcal messaging.

“Public Broadcasting” has always been political messaging for socialism. They have always pushed about the “evils” of commercial broadcasting even though many of their program sponsors have promos that are really commercials. When aggressvie they call themselves “public broadcasting” but when caught in some shady issue… revert to “educational broadcasting”.

C is for quit, in this case.

Not surprised here, I have young children and the government used Elmo to promote vaccines and social distancing for years during the never ending COVID response. Sesame Street is not the same program I grew up with for sure, it’s a propaganda tool not an educational program. And after all it is at the learning level of most government employees, so I’m sure Biden is getting briefed by Cookie Monster most days.

He’d rather deal with sympathetic Cookie Monster than his tyrannical nemesis, Nurse Easter Bunny.

“You’re committed, you realize. You are… under the jurisdiction of me… the staff.”

henrybowman | March 6, 2024 at 1:13 pm

Maybe I’m too old. Don’t I remember the original Cookie Monster begging for cookies, and “liberating” cookies… but not buying them? Hm, a quite different social analogy now arises.

Top thoughts: This is a farce, of course

Underlying mayhem: Biden threatens to rein this consequence of his own stupid failures in with legislation. If the weight is stamped on the package and it has that net weight in the package, then it’s not fraud.

2smartforlibs | March 6, 2024 at 2:56 pm

Another out-of-touch comment from the rooting bag. The reason it’s smaller and not higher is because you NOTICED. Inflation is more money chancing fewer goods.

He was paid for and created for a government propaganda channel so no surprise.

What a despicable public official this president is. Not only is he trying to blame businesses for doing something—designing their own pricing strategies—that is perfectly legal, but he’s also demonizing American consumers whom he considers so stupid that they don’t even realize they are being “ripped off”. He will apparently take time for this in his SOTU speech this evening, when he should be speaking to his vision for serious domestic and foreign policies looking ahead. This is the 2024 version of Hillary’s “deplorables” remark that contributed to her defeat in 2016. I look look forward to Trump’s response or rejoinder to this cookie- monster nonsense.

I remember when retail “shrinkage” meant something else, and “shrinkage” meant something else, again. Brandon gonna do something about those?
