Some Liberals Unhappy About Jon Stewart’s Jabs at Biden in Highly Anticipated Return to Daily Show

People on the left have been buzzing for weeks about Jon Stewart’s return to the Daily Show on Comedy Central. Stewart will host one night a week for election season 2024.
Stewart left the show in 2015 and was replaced with the forgettable Trevor Noah, who left the show in 2022. Since then, Comedy Central has used a rotating cast of comics and other celebs to host the show, but no one has really taken hold.
Stewart’s first night back was Monday. Although he threw plenty of expected barbs at Donald Trump, he also had some surprising criticism for Joe Biden. People on the left weren’t expecting that, and not everyone was happy about it.

One-time fans who perhaps remember comedian Jon Stewart only taking satirical swipes at conservatives while host of The Daily Show were shocked and aggrieved when he returned to host the program after almost nine years on Monday to take aim at President Joe Biden.
During an “Indecision 2024” segment that anchored the first half of the show, Stewart aired exasperation over Donald Trump and Biden being the oldest-ever candidates for president, breaking a record they themselves set in the 2020 election. (In his usual self-deprecating style, he also took a moment to lament his own age and appearance.) The monologue made room for ridicule of Trump’s most unhinged comments but did not spare his incumbent Democratic opponent, who has lately faced intense questioning on his mental acuity. At one point, Stewart showed Biden — at a press conference to address a Justice Department probe that characterized him as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory” — mixing up the countries of Mexico and Egypt.
Chis D. Jackson, an election commissioner in Tennessee who describes himself as “one of the most effective digital advocates of President Joe Biden and his administration,” summed up the mood in this camp: “Wow,” he tweeted. “So you basically say because Biden is old, he is basically as bad as Trump. Why th[e] F do we never learn in this country?” Kaivan Shroff, Democratic commentator and press secretary for the political nonprofit Dream for America, took a shot at Stewart, claiming that although he’s 20 years younger than Biden, the two men “look the same age.” One Biden supporter raged that Stewart, who was commended by the president in 2022 for his advocacy on behalf of veterans, had dared to “pay him back” with this harsh analysis. “I’ll never forgive you,” he concluded.

“The Daily Show with John Stewart” was something that could only exist at a certain point in time. All of its copy-cats are cringe as is now the original — this much was obvious on “The Problem with John Stewart”, an aptly-named show.
It appears that John Stewart might be waking up just a tiny bit. It would be funny if he starts sliding to the right.

He’s back where he made his mark because he wants to be the “it girl” again — be the winner for the cool kid contest once more.
While I understand that a “both sides” stance can be a lazy way out, sometimes it applies. It very much applies when you’re talking about the Republican and Democratic parties. The frustration that many voters feel is caused by the reality that no matter who we vote for things either don’t change or they do change for the worse.
Look for example at federal spending. No matter what the politicians of both parties say it just keeps going up with no end in sight. The “debt ceiling” is a flat lie. Any difference between the parties is merely one of emphasis: Democrats want more spending on Program A and the GOP wants it on Program B. But they agree: spend more!

Stewart’s not being evenhanded except in one aspect – age related concerns. Apparently being evenhanded in ANY aspect is verboten.
