Israel On Deadly Gaza Aid Stampede: “No IDF strike was conducted toward the aid convoy”

Times of Israel: “Gunmen…opened fire in the area as they looted the supplies.”

Once again a Palestinian lie travels halfway around the world before the truth has the chance to put on its proverbial shoes. The mainstream media is amplifying Hamas’s lies over Thursday’s tragic stampede that left several dozen Palestinians dead in Gaza City.

Hamas-controlled Gaza ‘officials’ are inflating the casualty figures and accusing Israel of “massacre” and the media is willingly peddling the narrative without caring to verify the facts.

The initial probe by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) paints a very different picture. Palestinian terrorists, intending to plunder the humanitarian supplies, fired at a convoy of aid trucks surrounded by thousands of civilians. Palestinian “[g]unmen … opened fire in the area as they looted the supplies,” The Times of Israel reported.

IDF spoxs: Palestinian ‘mob ambushed’ aid trucks

The IDF troops were at the scene to facilitate the humanitarian supplies, the Israeli military spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Thursday evening at a press conference.

“This morning the IDF coordinated a convoy of 38 trucks to provide additional humanitarian assistance to the residents of northern Gaza,” Hagari revealed.

“As these vital humanitarian supplies made their way toward Gazans in need, thousands of Gazans something on the trucks, some began violently pushing and trampling other Gazans to death, looting the humanitarian supplies,” he said.

“At 4:45 a.m., a mob ambushed the aid trucks, bringing the convoy to a halt,” he said, showing a video. “In this video, the tanks that were there to secure the convoy saw the Gazans being trampled and cautiously tried to disperse the mob with a few warning shots.”

“The Israel Defense Forces operates according to the rules of engagement and international law. No IDF strike was conducted toward the aid convoy,” he concluded.

The Times of Israel reports:

The military said most of the casualties were caused by a stampede and being run over by the supply vehicles. Gunmen also opened fire in the area as they looted the supplies.

The army said it did not fire at the crowd rushing the main aid convoy. It acknowledged that troops opened fire on several Gazans who moved toward soldiers and a tank at an IDF checkpoint, endangering soldiers, after they had rushed the last truck in the convoy further south.

The Israeli news website Ynet reports:

An initial IDF probe into a northern Gaza stampede that reportedly left dozens dead on Thursday found that Palestinian gunmen fired at aid trucks bringing essential supplies into the war-torn territory as large crowds gathered around them, with most fatalities resulting from trampling and crowding.

While most of the casualties were caused by the ensuing stampede, some civilians injuries may have been caused due to IDF fire, carried out it self-defense as the crowd came threatening close to the troops.

“An officer stationed in the area ordered soldiers to fire warning shots in the air as the Palestinians were within a few dozen meters, as well as gunfire at the legs of those who continued to move toward the troops, the probe said,” The Times of Israel added.

It is worth noting that Palestinian gunfire driving the crowd towards the IDF troops could well have been a ploy by Hamas terrorists to ambush Israeli soldiers securing the aid trucks. As I reported on November 2, 2023: “Hamas terrorists [were] hurling Gaza civilians, including women and children, towards Israeli soldiers as they carry out sneak attacks on them.” I was referring to the report by Ynet stating that Hamas was ‘pushing forwards women and children’ to as as ‘human barrier’ for is assaults on IDF troops.

Hamas has repeatedly attacked Israeli troops conducting humanitarian operations in Gaza, even at the cost of risking Palestinian lives.

Two Israelis murdered in West Bank terror attack

As the IDF gears up to flush Hamas out of Gaza, terrorists based in the West Bank continue to target Israeli civilians. On Thursday, two Israelis, a teenager and a 30 year-old-man, were murdered when three Palestinian terrorists opened fire in the city of Binyamin. Further bloodshed as averted after an armed off-duty soldier eliminated one of the terrorists, forcing his accomplices to flee the scene.

The Israeli news website Arutz Sheva reports:

Two people were murdered in a terrorist shooting attack at a gas station at the entrance to Eli in Binyamin this afternoon (Thursday).

There were two attackers. One of the shooters was killed, while the second was wounded and barricaded himself inside a nearby store. There is no concern that the second terrorist had any hostages.

According to Magen David Adom, the two victims were a man in his 30s and a teenager who were found shot in a car.

The IDF stated, “A short while ago, a terrorist arrived at a gas station in Eli and opened fire. The terrorist was neutralized. IDF soldiers are blocking off routes and pursuing additional suspects in the area.”

The first mistake: “This morning the IDF coordinated a convoy of 38 trucks to provide additional humanitarian assistance to the residents of northern Gaza,” Hagari revealed.”

Israel really should not be providing ANY aid whatsoever to Gaza.

I understand why it is doing so, but it is ridiculous for a country to be supporting the very people who are doing their best to destroy it.

All aid should come from Muslim Countries. Notice it isn’t nor are any letting the poor Pali’s in to escape the fighting. Strange, isn’t it

      JohnSmith100 in reply to diver64. | February 29, 2024 at 6:01 pm

Aid from Muslim countries should only be allowed after Hamas is and their supporters are completely pacified. There should be no mercy until they surrender unconditionally.

They’ve made the mistake of allowing “refugees” before and it caused them nothing but problems. Even the Arabs hate the Palestinians.

All aid should come from Muslim Countries.
A bunch of it is. Of course that “aid” is in the form of weapons and ammunition….

      Classic mozzie MO.
Anyone remember the tsunami that devastated large swaths of ground in Sumatra some years back? The West instantly responded with all manner of aid. Many of the locals hard hit with death, destruction, loss of land and home, marvelled as they observed volunteers from nearly every western nation on the planet bringing aid of every sort, while their “brothers in All Ah” sat on their thick ends and did

I agree, but, crime boss, Biden, is threatening to cut off munitions supplies, if Israel doesn’t allow in aid to the Fakestinians. Biden and his lackeys may not have made that threat explicitly, but, the subtext and implications are clear, if Israel doesn’t comply.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to guyjones. | February 29, 2024 at 6:08 pm

Israel is already manufacturing munitions, America will lose significant sales over this,

        guyjones in reply to JohnSmith100. | February 29, 2024 at 9:41 pm

It will take a long time for Israel to ramp up production, though, and, it’s going to cost the country serious dough to do this, that could’ve been spent elsewhere.

Crawford in reply to ChrisPeters. | February 29, 2024 at 6:15 pm

The Gazans have certainly demonstrated they can’t behave civilized enough to be given aid. Earlier this week there were photos of Palestinians selling free aid for exorbitant prices.

Did the Berlin Airlift have mobs like this? I’m sure it wasn’t all sweetness and light, but I’m sure that would have shown up in what I’ve read.

Tionico in reply to Crawford. | March 2, 2024 at 2:12 am

One of my Aunts was stationed in Berlin during that time. According to her eyes on assessment, the answer to that question is a resounding NO. We stayed up late (west coasties, here) just to watch the latest black and white newsreels that came out with most every flight out of West Berlin. Again no evidence of any such conduct, ever. After she got shipped back to the West, she was able to talk about how things were. /she was unaaware of any such goings on.And her Front Row Seat would surely have put her in position to observe any such thing.

IDF should be watching from afar via satellite and helicopters to ensure that IDF soldiers are kept out of harms way and outside the area of engagement. Let Jordan or Egypt protect the convoy.

Better yet, hand it off to the Palestinians at the Gaza border and let the world see them kill their own and steal the humanitarian supplies from the populace.

Tionico in reply to ChrisPeters. | March 2, 2024 at 2:01 am

If the residents of Gaza are wanting for supplies such s food, why don’t they demand them from their occupying overlords who have been receiving truckloads of all sorts if necessary items, then stealing them and ferreting them away in their supply tunnels. I’m certain there are enough vital stores secreted in the tunnels Hamas have built with foreign “aid” money to flood the whole territory with plenty of everything.

Let the Gazans for whom the stolen aid was originally sent demand they get immediate access to it, or they’ll turn on their captors and take it. Its already theirs…… .

owner the Eli gas station’s hummus restaurant
The hummus guy took out the terrorist! Because he was a reservist and he was armed! A good guy with a gun! (And I’m not even a fan of hummus.)

Now I’m picturing Belushi as a gas station sushi restaurant owner, doing in bad guys….

Mogadishu flashbacks. That’s exactly what the lawlessness looked like when the UN trucks would drop off the rice.

I’m certain Danny would agree…..that’s a good part of why he was there.

I still think what I thought then: That anyone who attacks aid shipments should be killed on the spot. If they escape, hunt them down and bomb the area until you are sure they are dead. If they were following orders, obliterate the order givers and their entire headquarters. There is no such thing as collateral damage here; anyone hanging out with this scum also deserved to die.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | February 29, 2024 at 4:30 pm

So, now we know why Jordan dropped their “aid” into the Mediterranean … Safer for all.

It’s a shame these Gazans didn’t contemplate what supporting hamas and their deranged war on Israel would mean for them. They should all be expelled to arab states. Let their “brothers” care for them. Gazans mostly are from Egypt, to start with, which is a large part of why they don’t get along with the Fakestinians in the West Bank, who are mostly of Syrian origin.

BTW, as a footnote – Israel really wanted Gaza included in the Camp David accords (for Egypt to accept it as part of the deal) but Egypt and Jimmy Carter both refused and forced Israel to keep it within its control.

The leftist dhimmis’/Dhimmi-crats’ ceaseless and gleeful anti-Israel venom and Jew-hate has basically reached Nazi-like levels of dishonesty, spite and slander.

No lie or slander is too dishonest or malicious to propagate, so long as it puts Israeli Jews in the worst light, possible, while whitewashing, ignoring and downplaying any scintilla of personal responsibility or culpability assigned to the allegedly saintly and perennially blameless Arab Muslim Fakestinians.

Dimsdale in reply to guyjones. | March 1, 2024 at 8:42 am

Why not send the Hamas lickers we have here to Gaza to distribute the food and supplies to their “brothers?”

Kill two birds with one stone, and given the nature of some of the Hamas lickers, stoning will be an option.

GWB in reply to Dimsdale. | March 1, 2024 at 9:15 am

That’s what I’m wondering. Make these people face up to the actual situation on the ground by helping them signal their virtue. Send them with the aid.

Aid to Pales only serves to promote evil

I have no sympathy whatsoever for any “palestinian.” Destroy gaza. Make the rubble bounce. Start fresh.

IDF/Israelis should know better. Just give the darn supplies and trucks to the Red Crescent at the border and be done with it. Document all of it using live broadcast cams on the tractor trailers and drones.

The aid was coming from Egypt, per https://www.foxnews.com/world/idf-says-troops-fired-warning-shots-mob-rushed-aid-convoy-leading-more-than-100-killed (use Reader View if you don’t have Fox News account).

The LI article should have made this clear.

three Palestinian terrorists opened fire in the city of Binyamin.

Correction: There is no such city. The attack happened just outside the town of Eli, which is in the Benjamin region (Binyamin, in Hebrew). Benjamin is the “forgotten” region in between the better known regions of Judaea and Samaria.

Every time the American media runs a story unquestioningly quoting the “Gaza ministry of health”, they are parroting Hamas talking points. They are aiding and abetting terrorists.

Time for Israel to take back the Gaza strip.
