Democratic Socialists of America Might Lay Off Workers Due to Financial Trouble

“The organization’s financial troubles, which the New York Post first reported, allegedly put the leaders in a position where they have no option but to slash their budget, potentially leading to job losses among their ranks.”

The AOC linked Democratic Socialists of America are having some financial difficulties and may be forced to lay off workers. What a shame.

It’s shocking that people who believe socialism will work aren’t capable of managing their funds. It’s probably someone else’s fault. Isn’t that their usual excuse for everything else?

FOX News reports:

AOC-affiliated Democratic Socialists of America faces dire ‘financial crisis’ that could lead to layoffs

A left-wing group affiliated with Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez, D-NY, and other prominent congressional members is facing a dire cash crunch that could lead to people losing their jobs, according to a report.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), of which Ocasio-Cortez is a member, is staring down a significant “financial crisis” that has forced some leaders to put forth a drastic proposal to protect its bottom line.

“We will cut $500,000 from staff-related expenses,” a proposal propelled by individuals on its National Political Committee says. “We will first ask for volunteers from both director-level and bargaining unit staff to have their position cut and receive severance.”

“If necessary, we will then explore initiating lay-offs according to the DSA union’s contract,” the members wrote.

The organization’s financial troubles, which the New York Post first reported, allegedly put the leaders in a position where they have no option but to slash their budget, potentially leading to job losses among their ranks.

Do you think their cash crunch might have something to do with all the insane pro-Hamas protests over the last few months?

Haley Strack writes at National Review:

Democratic Socialists of America in ‘Financial Crisis’ following Brash Support for Hamas

Many American progressives believe that DSA has abandoned its domestic political commitments to go all in on the pro-Palestinian cause, executive director Zioness Amanda Berman, told the New York Post.

On the matter of Israel, DSA dissented from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Senator Bernie Sanders (D., Vt.), two of the country’s most prominent progressives, in the days following Hamas’s attack. Instead of condemning the mass rape and murder of Israelis, as Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders did in October, the DSA said on October 7 that “today’s events are a direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime—a regime that receives billions in funding from the United States.”

“After Hamas’s brutal invasion of Israel on October 7, DSA doubled down on their strategy of going deep and long on antisemitism, thinking it might get them out of the hole,” Berman said. “Instead, this depraved idea dug them even deeper. True progressives, whether in the grassroots or in political leadership, will continue rejecting this extremist group and its hateful ideas in the name of true justice and equity, including for Jewish Americans.”

They chose… poorly.

Just another in the long, uninterrupted line of failures by communists.

Profitability was never a socialist claim.

How long before they demand taxpayer funding? Seriously, I can see them doing this.

Constant failure yet they continue to exist.

If they can’t manage their own money, how can they manage local, state, or federal money if given control of the levers of government?

Interestingly, I did not see any mention of the rank and file or union labor brass being present at negotiations 😉

Notice how all these liberal arenas from democratic socialism to ESG all rely on Capitalism to keep the doors open. Then lie about their intentions.

Don’t worry, next time they’ll get socialism right…

It’s probably someone else’s fault.

Yeah! Where’s George Soros when they need him?

I mean, if they’ve lost George Soros….

They must have run out of other peoples money to spend

Just bring them bread and let them huddle together in a cold warehouse. That should be enough pay for the comrades.

Which greedy evil entity will they blame for this? According to Adam Schiff, they really need more access to collective bargaining so that they can be paid a fair wage. I guess no one is buying the widgets they’re selling. On the bright side, I think this means that their carbon footprint will be reduced.

Episode eighty-kabillion of The Successes of Socialism:

So some animals are deciding whether to lay off other, not quite as equaly equal other animals.
