CA Senate Debate: Ex-MLB Star Steve Garvey Reminds Adam Schiff the House Censured Him for Lying About Trump

CA Senate Debate: Ex-MLB Star Steve Garvey Reminds Adam Schiff the House Censured Him for Lying About Trump

Garvey to Schiff: “Sir, you lied to 300 million people and you can’t take that back.”

In all the presidential hoopla we have been following at Legal Insurrection these past few weeks, it is easy to forget there are 33 races for seats in the US Senate this November: 10 seats held by Republicans, 20 held by Democrats, and three held by independents who caucus with Democrats.

One of those races is for the seat once occupied by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. Unfortunately, one of those candidates is the censured congressman, Adam Schiff.

I am happy to report that Schiff was called out on his “Russia collusion” lies by fellow candidate and former baseball star Steve Garvey during a debate among all the candidates that was recently held.

California Republican Senate candidate and former MLB first baseman Steve Garvey zinged Rep. Adam Schiff during a primary debate Monday night, pointing out the House had censured the Democrat “for lying” about allegations the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to rig the 2016 presidential election.

“I think you’ve been censured for lying,” Garvey, who played 19 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, told Schiff during the LA debate.

“And this is exactly what I’m talking about: career politicians who are trying to determine who we are by race or by color or by gender,” Garvey went on. “They never listen. They have pre-arranged words to say.”

McCarthy and House Republicans voted along partisan lines to censure Schiff in June 2023 for having “abused” the public’s trust “by alleging he had evidence of collusion” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

It was an exquisite moment of schadenfreude:

The other candidates in the debate were congresswomen Katie Porter and Barbara Lee.

To be fair to Schiff, among the progressive candidates on stage, he has the most sensible take on Israel’s response to the Hamas attack.

The Israel-Hamas war brought the most disagreement between the candidates.

Lee urged for a permanent cease-fire in the conflict.

“The only way Israel is going to be secure is through a permanent cease-fire,” Lee said. “The only way that is going to happen is with a political and diplomatic solution.”

Porter said cease-fire is not a “magic word – you can’t say it and make it so.”

“But we have to push, as the United States, as a world leader for us to get to a cease-fire and to avoid another forever war,” Porter said.

Schiff defended his position of not calling for a cease-fire. He said Israel has a right to defend itself and that Hamas can’t be left to govern Gaza.

As a reminder, California has a jungle primary system…so the top two candidates will head to the November 5th election (regardless of party affiliation). So far, it looks like Garvey is managing to hold on to the second spot.

Twenty-five percent of respondents said they would vote for Adam Schiff, putting him in the lead.

In second place is Garvey with 18%.

Democratic candidates Katie Porter and Barbara Lee came in 3rd and 4th place with 13 and 8%, respectively.

I live in California. Charles Manson (D, dead) wins statewide. To be fair, only by ten points instead of the usual twenty to thirty.
Garvey may get on the ballot, which is a win. Often, it is just two Democrats.
I have sent Garvey a small donation.
I know it will be hard, but it will be Senator Shiff.

There aren’t enough Americans left in Ca. to elect Garvey.

How ironic Adam Schiff calling anybody else corrupt

Schiff wasn’t lying. He was simply sharing his lived, fantasized truth.

Sadly, this may actually be true. He is surrounded by his own echo chamber, convinced that every rumor that promotes his own fantasies are real, and proof that he is wrong, absolute proof with video and hard numbers, is faked.

And these people run the country…

How is Garvey doing?

Emerson has Schiff at 25 and Garvey at 18. There 24 undecided so we will see. It is hard for me to believe that schiff’s performance during the Russia farce does not disqualify him for the voters but it shows how little anyone pays attention to politics.

. . . for having “abused” the public’s trust “by alleging he had evidence of collusion” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

No, that is incorrect. Schiff didn’t allege he had evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin he outright told the American public that he had evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. That he had that evidence, that he read that evidence, and that it did prove collusion between Trump and the Kremlin. But of course in the end, Schiff never managed to hand that evidence over to the DoJ for further investigation. Why? Because such evidence didn’t exist and had never existed outside of Schiff’s fevered brain.

If Garvey gets any traction- MSM will dice him up kinda like Roy Moore few hrs ago. Starting with Cindy.

I’m on the side of anyone against that piece of Schiff but Garvey needs a better presentation, He needs to speak more loudly and clearly, and he really should have had a planned response summarizing Schiff’s garbage lies ready to deliver back to shut that punk up, rather than just saying “liar.”

Behold the genius of Barbara Lee: “The only way Israel is going to be secure is through a permanent cease-fire,”

The only cease fire that terrorists will honor is the one that begins when they are all dead.

Garvey should have challenged Schiff to release the documents he claims to have. If candidate Trump is the existential threat to “our democracy” that the Dems say he is, then Schiff has a responsibility to stop him from returning to the Oval Office. If Schiff doesn’t stop him (by release of the information), he will 1.) be exposed as a liar; or 2.) will have failed to stop Trump when he had an opportunity to “defend our democracy.” He’ll be in a lose-lose position, being a liar or a failure in the eyes of anyone who has an opinion on the matter of “Russian collusion.”

Dennis Prager says that the Progs lie as easily as they breathe.

LI badly needs a proofreader. Just the headlines today evidence an unusual number of technical gaffes. Schiff was censured, not censored. (Would that he had been.) The text got it right.

Every time Schiff opened his mouth Garvey should have said “liar” into the mic. All night and referred to him as the Congressman from CNN.

No chance

It’s hard to believe that lying Adam Schiff garners enough votes to keep him in first place in the CA Senate Race. Results like those reinforce how dumb many voters really are when it comes to picking candidates we can trust. Of course, there are so few trustworthy politicians in office that I suppose it doesn’t matter if another is voted in.
