Artificial Intelligence Tool Translates Argentinian President Milei’s Freedom Address in Real Time

HeyGen, an AI language translation tool, provides a wonderful excuse to post Milei’s awesome speech for a second time.

Like many of you, I was blown away by Argentine President Javier Milei’s speech at Davos, Switzerland. Legal Insurrection’s Mary Chastain gave a wonderful review of Milei’s takes on economics, markets, finance, feminism, and freedom.

How can this speech get any better? Well, it can!

It turns out that this was the first time an artificial intelligence tool translated a speech by a world leader in real-time.

This speech was also translated into several other languages (including French, Arabic, and Mandarin) from the original Spanish in real-time as well.

I would argue that this may be the most important innovation related to AI yet. It’s estimated that 60%–65% of the way we communicate with others is through nonverbal behaviors. The ability to pair a person’s tone and facial expressions with the content of their speech aids in effective communication.

Social cues are ways we communicate without words or in addition to verbal communication. They can express our feelings by using our faces, bodies, and behavior without talking or while we are talking.

Social cues are part of the overall way humans communicate. Social cues and words work together and depend on context.

A singular expression of a social cue shouldn’t be relied upon, but looking at the whole person while communicating can give many clues to their emotions, intent, reactions, and other valuable information.

Overall, the way people perform most social cues is similar. Some of them are even believed to be evolutionary-based and hardwired, meaning that many of us perform the same social cues automatically.

That this can be done in real-time, through AI, means that some translator isn’t going to potentially influence reports related to an address given in venues such as the World Economic Forum, either.

If you care to try the experiment, the HeyGen AI tool is available and seems simple to use.

Called Video Translate, the tool allows you to upload a video of yourself speaking in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hindi or Japanese. The requirements are pretty basic so you don’t need any fancy cameras, microphones or software. The clip has to be at least 30 seconds long and should ideally feature just one person. But other than that, you just upload your video and in a single click HeyGen can translate what you’re saying.

You can choose whether you want the output to be in Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, German, Polish, Portuguese or English.

I uploaded a video, and will see how well it translates my English to German (a language I am now in the process of relearning). Those who speak German can comment on its quality.

This particular tool has the potential to revolutionize communications, as long as it isn’t permitted to devolve into deep fakery.

Bonus: It’s a wonderful excuse to post Milei’s awesome speech for a second time.

French is the most natural language because in it the words occur in the same order as the thoughts, said a French politician.

When the Founders/Framers spoke of freedom, they meant freedom FROM government,

Javier Milei gets it.

“It wasn’t what government did that made America great; it was what government was prevented from doing that made the difference,

“What set America apart from all other lands was freedom – for the individual. Freedom to work, to produce, to succeed and, especially, to keep the fruits of one’s labor.

“America became great precisely because the stifling effects of too much government had been prevented [by means of Constitutional limitations].”

An NGO to Fly Illegal Aliens Into America Is Founded By Former “American” Presidents Clinton, Obama, and George W. Bush

    —Disinformation Expert Ace

    Fuck the Uniparty.

Three of the five former Presidents of the United States have started a new non-governmental organization (NGO) with the explicit purpose of chartering flights to import illegal aliens into the United States.
As reported by Just The News, the NGO Miles4Migrants, founded by former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, is teaming up with two other organizations, American Express Global Business Travel and Welcome.US, to expand upon a previous effort that focused solely on Afghan refugees following the disastrous withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan in 2021.

Welcome.US was originally launched for the purpose of bringing in at least 85,000 Afghan refugees, and also has ties to the far-left billionaire George Soros and his Open Society Foundation. The new coalition between Welcome.US, Miles4Migrants, and American Express Global Business Travel will seek to raise money to import illegals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Ukraine.

As usual you’re full of shit.

Miles4Migrants was not founded by any former presidents. It is a very worthy charity that accepts donations of frequent flier miles to help refugees get out of where they are in danger, and get to a safe place. How could any decent person be against that?

The organization that three former presidents support (though they did not found it) is Welcome.US, and it helps refugees resettle. It was founded when the US brought 100,000 Afghan refugees here, and they needed help to settle in. Helping refugees is the very definition of charity, and anyone who would refuse to help them is a monster.

Neither organization has any connection to illegal immigration. Neither of them “import illegal aliens”. And the claim that Miles4Migrants was founded “with the explicit purpose of chartering flights to import illegal aliens into the United States” is nothing but a fucking lie.

Artificial Intelligence to translate Real Intelligence.

Whodathunkit?

This capability has existed for 25 years (though some accuracy issues).

Before L&H went bankrupt, they did a demo for the Pentium 4 launch doing real time translation. It was piped to some cool animation software and plugged into an avatar who spoke what you said real time- so it was a bilingual voice chat app with a 3d avatar.

Connecting these two technologies was one of the highlights of my early tech career.

Soon after though- L&H imploded for fraudulently booking orders in Australia. I think Dragon bought up some of the patents and engineers, but they were running lean financially and didn’t go much further.

One of my greatest disappointments was not getting this technology adopted faster- though to some degree I blame short sighted employer for forcing me to do all of this on a near zero beg and barter budget. Well that and the dot com bust.

now lip reading in real time… that’d be impressive.

There’s already been AMPLE academic research into it. And, there are a number of tech companies including incubators and startups for focused specifically on it – called Visual Speech Recognition (VSR) – for several years, at least. I saw a demo before the pandemic. It was somewhat primitive at the time. But still, it was surprisingly accurate even then. I can’t imagine how far they’ve come in three years. In some ways, VSR is the other side of the coin in real-time deep fake technology. To be able to make a deep-fake’s mouth move in a convncing way, you first have to understand how those lips need to appear (in motion) to convince viewers that the deep fake is actually doing the speaking.

AI is yet another chance for man to destroy what well-intentions created. It is the same as the constitutional republic for which the flag stood that was created by honorable men whom reminded us it is ours but only if WE can keep it. The cultural rot has spread far into the limbs that make up the body politic, and the necrosis must be halted through amputation before the republic is completely gone.

Better is relative. The tool AI will become the manipulator AI. Enjoy the speeches.

I’ll be back…. 🙂

I am surprised that the AI lip synched in English, interesting. Perhaps we should give some thoughts to watching how this “reality” plays out. I would prefer that Milei would visually continue to speak his native tongue ensuring to all that what we are seeing is a translation not a possible fraud.

I thought the same thing; I’m a native Spanish speaker and I can attest that the translation is accurate. At the same time I thought “wait, but what if the AI translation was from a language I do not understand, like German. How do I know that what I’m seeing and hearing now is what was said in the original language?” The answer is that it’s the same thing with traditional translation, I still have to trust that whoever made it is not lying to me.

Another Star Trek idea coming true – the universal translator.

The Microsoft/Bing thing on my laptop told me the nearest rain was 93 miles away yesterday, but it was raining.

It’s estimated that 60%–65% of the way we communicate with others is through nonverbal behaviors.

With Nikki Haley it’s 148%. That lady can’t stop moving her hands and arms around like she’s an epileptic sign language interpreter on acid.

I’m surprised it didn’t censor or re-interpret it for us in real-time. AI that hasn’t been corrupted by Democrats yet?
