U. Penn President: On Second Thought, Campus Calls for Genocide Against Jews Would Be “Harassment or Intimidation”
Backtracks on refusal to answer yesterday: “I want to be clear, a call for genocide of Jewish people is threatening …. In my view it would be harassment or intimidation.” Still not saying it violates policy or that she will take action.
The President of the University of Pennsylvania, along with the presidents of Harvard and MIT, couldn’t bring themselves to say that calling for the genocide of Jews on campus violated campus anti-harassment and anti-intimidation rules.
The context was the mobs of anti-Israel students chanting “Long Live the Intifada” and “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free” and similar chants. I covered it in Congressional Campus Antisemitism Hearing: “The three presidents were, frankly, fairly pathetic”
Elise Stefanik posed the questions:

The blowback has been harsh. Whoever said that any publicity is good publicity obviously didn’t watch this hearing.
Now the President of U. Penn has doubts about what she said. She got lost in the moment. Now she says that calls on campus for genocide against Jews would constitute threats and harassment.

“Context” was the escape she and the others claimed in the hearing. Well, here’s some context: Anti Semitic chants and threats are screamed at a group of Jewish students while walking on campus. Is that context enough?
How about NYU (I think) where a group of Jewish students were trapped in. classroom by a mob screaming anti-Semitic comments? Does that qualify? The list of contextual events is very long and widespread.

Thank goodness for Elsie Stefanik. She is tough, articulate, intelligent, and a remarkable young congresswoman. As for the three presidents who testified before Congress yesterday, their emotional and intellectual dishonesty alone should be grounds for involuntary termination.

I am a Penn grad, Class of ’69, and while I received a pretty good liberal arts education back in that distant time, I also said for many years that the only great thing I got from 4 years at Penn was it was where I met my wife.
Now I am so repelled by what Penn has become, I think about returning my diploma. If only it were not such a pathetic and useless gesture, as if anyone there would care.
No matter what “second thoughts” they may come up with, they will never take any action against Leftist students or staff who make anti-Semitic threats. It would go against the Party line.

Forget Jews, they have people on faculty at these universities who call for the extermination of white people. Just a quick stroll through any of the humanities departments will turn up handfuls of professors who think that whites are the devil and that the Earth should be rid of them.
Of course, many of these same people are just completely anti-human. They are against all advanced humanity, of any sort. Sure, they don’t mind having some thousands of savages running around in loincloths but, in general, they think that Man is a disease of the Earth that needs to be “cured”.
Now, for these haters of humanity, it’s not that their speech is so egregious or offensive that they should be sanctioned, but the fact that they have IQs hovering in the mid 80s and serve no useful purpose to the university or society that should have them gone. They have no talents and are idiots of the worst sort, so the last thing they are actually qualified to be are professors of anything academic. … But I wouldn’t hold my breath on any of that.

I knew they’d walk back what they said under oath. But they won’t change their enforcement, it would mean expelling too many foreign students who are paying full list price tuition. (But they’ll say it’s because of the racism, not the money, don’t you know?)
IMO eliminating 90% of student visas would have wonderful moderating effect on campus. First it stops the direct flow of foreign radicals to campus and second it disrupts the current funding scheme for big Ed. Too many benefits to list.
What about the home grown ones radicalized by the professors?
The ‘homegrown’ began to be radicalized in K-12 and reinforced with social media cranks so that’s better addressed in those spots. That said, with less foreign radicals imported to campus there is a gap of Students to be filled. Those will will be less radical on average than the current crop. Which means to some degree they will be less tolerant of woke/lefty indoctrination.
In turn the State legislature and Governors must push hard on the State School board to institute clear and unambiguous K-12 policies to thwart the current woke/lefty indoctrination in K-12 to include school choice, AZ is leading the pack on choice. Simultaneously they must begin applying serious not pro forma pressure to State Univ Boards to reform their faculty and administration. FL is demonstrating how to do this.
There isn’t one fix, its a multi dimensional push that will require sustained effort and Citizen involvement and backing beyond the act of voting.

She claims that she misunderstood the simple question that was asked to her multiple times by Congresswoman Stefanik. That makes her either a liar or an idiot. In either case she should be fired. Also, she didn’t explain why she was smirking all through the questioning. It would have been great if Congresswoman Stefanik treated her like a recalcitrant child and said wipe that stupid grin off your face. This is a serious question and I want a serious answer.

“Genocide”, like “woman” is a very hard to define term. Suppose a group only wanted to kill say 40% of the Jews on campus. I don’t think there is a college president in the country that would call that “genocide”. More likely it was just college hijinks that got out of hand (like a panty raid).
