House GOP: FBI ‘Abused Its Counterterrorism Tools to Target Catholic Americans as Potential Domestic Terrorists’

Rep. Jim Jordan: “If you’re pro-life, if you’re a traditional Catholic, somehow you’re radical, somehow you’re an extremist.”

The House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government discovered that the FBI’s Richmond Office memo targeting Catholics was not an isolated incident.

“The Committee and Select Subcommittee’s oversight shows that the FBI abused its counterterrorism tools to target Catholic Americans as potential domestic terrorists,” declared the committee.

The memo from the Richmond office warned that “radical-traditionalist Catholics” could become “‘racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists’ and said that ‘racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists (RMVEs) in radical-traditionalist Catholic (RTC) ideology almost certainly presents opportunities for threat mitigation through the exploration of new avenues for tripwire and source development.'”

Something tells me they don’t separate the actual Traditional Catholics and us, who love some of the traditions.

It doesn’t matter. The traditionalists and the rest of us are not radicals.

If you’re a Radical Traditionalist Catholic (RTC), then WHITE SUPREMACIST. Do you prefer the Latin Mass? White supremacist. Do you prefer to partake in other Catholic traditions pre-Vatican II? You’re a racist extremist.

The findings make me believe the FBI wanted to infiltrate the Catholic Church. The FBI had at least one undercover agent to help compile the memo. The agency even “proposed developing sources among the Catholic clergy and church leadership.”

The agents interviewed at least one priest and choir director before publishing the memo.

But the committee also “learned that there were errors at every step of the drafting, review, approval, and removal process of the memorandum.”

The committee’s findings blew my mind. It’s worse than I thought.

To the shock of no one, the FBI had “no legitimate basis for the memorandum to insert federal law enforcement into Catholic houses of worship.”

Yes, the FBI wanted to place “federal law enforcement into places of worship and support outreach efforts to the Diocese of Richmond and other Catholic parishes.”

The Richmond Office jumped at the chance to target Catholics after one investigation from someone who described themselves as a “radical-traditionalist Catholic.” However, the agents could not ever define an RTC.

One rogue FBI office? Nope. The FBI offices in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Portland gave Richmond reports, which helped form the memo.

The two agents who wrote the memo relied on pure leftist sources, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, Salon, and The Atlantic. The agents knew the sources had a political bias.

The FBI picked out “Americans who are pro-life, pro-family, and support the biological basis for sex and gender distinction as potential domestic terrorists.”

The FBI withdrew the memo after it leaked in January. But at that time, the FBI wanted to place the memo “into an external, public-facing document highlighting the threats of ‘radical’ Catholics.”

An interview with Special Agent in Charge Stanley Meador revealed that the Richmond office “still desires to convey this information to other field offices” about RTCs.

Even though the FBI withdrew the memo, no one at the agency can tell how many offices and agents accessed it before it happened.

Jim Jordan, the committee chairman, spoke about the report on Hannity:

He went on to reference Biden’s speech before the physical birthplace of American government, where he was notably standing stern-faced against a dark-hued red background and claimed Trump-supporting Republicans “represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

“Remember when Joe Biden stood in front of Independence Hall and talked about how one half of the country is fascist?” Jordan asked. “It’s this whole mindset. If you’re pro-life, if you’re a traditional Catholic, somehow you’re radical, somehow you’re an extremist.”

“This is part of the Justice Department that said, if you’re a mom and dad going to a school board meeting, you’re an extremist as well… this is what’s so scary.”

I’m glad I do not live in a leftist state or city. I don’t know if I would trust my diocese if I lived in Illinois or D.C.

Terrorist just means somebody needing to be delegitimized. The terrorist toolkit is meant for that.

Unfortunately true Catholics are almost extinct. So-called Catholic universities are bastions of queerdom, and those few “Catholics” attending weekly mass are presided over by lisping, limp-wristed deviants. Those attending Latin mass are the only ones worthy to be called Catholics.

I wish a church nearby had Latin Mass. I wear a veil to Mass, though.

With the promulgation of Traditionis custodes, we’re going to have to wait a while.

I love seeing so many younger women wearing a veil. I also noticed the younger women and men dressing more modestly at Mass, too. They’re embracing the traditions.

Not sure where you’re located. But, it’s surprising there’s no Latin Mass anywhere around you. I would say most medium-sized cities (or bigger) will have at least one parish that will have regularly (or reasonably regular) scheduled Latin Mass. Even in the South (not a place with an enormous Catholic population), you can find Latin Mass in places like Atlanta, Nashville & Raleigh, at least once a month (usually the first Sunday of the month).

What an insufferable turd you are.

Get your knuckles tapped in Catholic School a few times? Stop being so odious

That fossil Democrat, James Carville, just stated the Christians (or some flavor of them) were worse than Al Queda.

Go figure. It fits in with whole attack on Judeo Christian values and people by the leftists.

“The findings make me believe the FBI wanted to infiltrate the Catholic Church.”
But they had a hard time, because they kept bouncing off the open doorway until they could find somebody to invite them in.

“I don’t know if I would trust my diocese if I lived in Illinois or D.C.”
Or San Francisco, or really anywhere they’re fine with letting notorious abortion hucksters remain communicants.

No, the archbishop has told the diocese in SF that Pelosi and other pro-abortionists cannot receive communion. The one in DC doesn’t care, but the SF archbishop has criticized Pelosi numerous times.

    Sounds like vampires to me!

The FBI, delende est.

OK, Jim more “blah”, “blah”, “blah” from you and no action,…where are the impeachment articles?

Wow. An (interim) report. That oughta do it, they were already reeling from the letters.

Yarn. More noise and nothing will be done. At least fire the agents that came up with the memo and that SAIC who thinks it’s great

I’ve had FNC on in my office most of the day. I honestly can’t remember them covering this story even though Hannity clearly did last night. I’m not sure if that’s intention (for some unknown reason) or if it’s just an oversight. This seems like it should be a really big story.

From Hoover onwards, the FBI has always been a tool of DC insiders.

I get that we are more than a little jaded about the HoR taking concrete action but let’s be willing to extend an opportunity for our leadership to fail us on this issue. Frankly we don’t really have another option at present anyway so …once more into the breach….though I am not holding my breath. The new HoR leadership is gonna have to earn respect b/c their predecessors shredded whatever small respect they had through their failures to act on multiple fronts.

One way to view this and the other committee actions and investigations is that they are building their case to be air tight when they bring something as opposed to the hot garbage of the J6 committee. IMO holding firm on appropriations and refusing more Ukraine funds without firm commitments for border security policy changes to stem the flow of Biden’s open border is how we find out if the new HoR leadership is serious or not. If they cave then it’s probably gonna be more failure theater and more displays of the same old DC establishment Kabuki BS.

“One way to view this and the other committee actions and investigations is that they are building their case to be air tight “

Got joking , right?

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | December 5, 2023 at 7:48 pm

Nope not joking. The rest of the sentence, that you failed to quote FWIW, goes on ‘…when they bring something as opposed to the hot garbage of the J6 committee’.

You also ignored the entirety of the 1st para preceding this in which I specifically phrased this in the context of ‘giving our leadership an opportunity to fail’ and that I wasn’t holding my breath.

I largely agree with cynicism and jaded attitude you have re our leadership. I also refuse to quit or just walk away abandoning our goals of implementing rational policies and holding folks accountable. I cling to the idea, however feint, that we can still prevail b/c without the belief we can win there isn’t much point. Lots of folks have already quit or have threatened to if their preference in candidates or policies aren’t adhered to 100%, I ain’t one of them, I’ll take whatever victories we can get.

Jesus

Your joking, right?

At the rate things are going, I imagine the fibbies will be raiding Jews fairly soon.

I’m currently reading a memoir written by a Catholic priest, he spent his working career in China during the interwar period of the 1930’s through 1951(?) The quote isn’t new, but it underscores how marxists have captured our institutions.

In China the strongest elements of resistance to the bar- barlsm of communism are the six religions, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Mohammedanism, Protestantism, and Catholicism; the family; the clans and the street societies; the moral patrimony of the Chinese themselves; and the KMT.

So? What are the republicans going to do about it? Ask for more money from us (aka, do nothing but put their hands out).

Substitute the words “government employees” for “Catholic’s” and you will get a better picture of whom needs to be targeted.
