High School in Kansas Approves ‘Satan Club’ Despite Public Objections

FOX News reports:

‘Satan Club’ approved at Kansas high school

A high school in Kansas is embroiled in controversy after a “Satan Club” was approved despite a petition being brought against it.

Olathe Northwest High School, a school in a suburb of Kansas City, has been given the green light to establish a Satan worship/Satan Templist Club, according to a spokesperson for the school district.

An Olathe Public Schools spokesperson told Fox News Digital “the club application met the criteria to establish a student-initiated club and is now recognized as a student-initiated club at Olathe Northwest High School.”

According to the school district, there was criteria the club had to meet before the application was approved.

One of the terms of the application was that the application itself had to be signed by at least ten students interested in forming the group, while additional signatures needed to come from a student representative and faculty supervisor.

The students that would be the leaders of the club were also expected to make a presentation to administrators about what the group would bring to the high school.

A federal law, known as the Equal Access Act, prohibits public schools from discriminating against a student-initiated group based on a message that is philosophical or religious.

A spokesperson for the district told Fox News Digital that this means if the school allows one club, it allows all clubs if the application process is complete and the group meets the guidelines for recognition.

“There are a wide variety of different extra-curricular clubs at the secondary level that are centered around religions, philosophies, politics and values. These clubs are voluntarily attended by students and occur outside of the regular school day. As a school district, Olathe Public Schools follows both state and federal laws related to student groups,” Erin Schulte, assistant director of communication for the Olathe School District said.

Asked and answered, counselor.

May God have mercy on their souls.

Why? There are Christian clubs, so how can you object to this one? On the contrary, the “public objections” are all coming from Christian supremacists who are in open rebellion against the US constitution. Not only couldn’t the school take such objections into account, it shouldn’t. There is no difference between these objectors and Antifa or the gun-grabbers.

Where are the liberals who constantly object to ‘religion’ in schools?

What are you talking about? You’re at least 20 years behind the times. The ACLU used to try to stop the free exercise of religion in public schools; they lost. The rules are now crystal clear: the school may not do anything that endorses religion, nobody representing the school may do so, but students are entitled to use school grounds for religious activities on the exact same basis that they are allowed to do so for secular purposes. If they’re allowed to have an after-school stamp club or photography club, they must be allowed to have a Jesus club or a Satan club. Or a Koran club.

I am disgusted that this high school is three miles from my house. I question if this is truly organic or Astroturf. Are those actually behind this “club” nothing but adult agitators who just persuaded a handful of students to lend their names to the petition?

I wonder what the outcry would be if someone wanted to start a school club for “Normal People.” One for heterosexuals, those without mental disorders like gender dysphoria (no pretendimen, pretendiwomen, or some fictitious, made-up pseudo-label.) Those people are welcome to respectfully participate and be heard, but the club does not exist to enable their delusions. While the club values freedom of opinion and speech, those who abuse those freedoms and disrupt our activities just because they disagree and want to keep club members from hearing and being heard will be barred from attending.

The Normie Club…I wonder if the school would approve that one, too?

Alternatively, just do away with all student-organized extra-curricular clubs and be done with it.

Of course it’s not “organic”. So what? Do you think the Jesus club is “organic” and not being pushed by outsiders such as parents or ministers? There’s nothing wrong with that.

A “normal people” club would probably be told to come up with a less insulting title. If its entire purpose is to belittle others then it could well be considered to contradict the school’s educational mission. The Satan Club’s title doesn’t insult anyone, and cannot possibly be considered offensive by anyone except by Christian supremacists.

These clubs are fronts for pedophiles I think

If that’s what you really think then there’s something wrong in your head. As the guy said to the shrink, “Hey, Doctor, you’re the one showing me all these dirty pictures”.
