British Journalist Douglas Murray Demolishes Progressive Cenk Uygur in Debate Over Israel and Hamas

“As far as I can see, you’re very ill-traveled as well as rather ill-lettered and ill-spoken”

Journalist and author Douglas Murray appeared opposite Cenk Uygur of the ‘Young Turks’ on the Piers Morgan program this week to talk about the Israel/Hamas conflict. Uygur is a progressive and holds pretty much every left wing view on the topic one could imagine. Murray’s view is more in line with conservatives.

Unfortunately for Uygur, this was not even close to a fair fight. Murray made Uygur look like the president of the high school Democrats debating a renowned expert.

Spencer Brown writes at Townhall:

WATCH: Three Straight Minutes of Douglas Murray Absolutely Destroying Cenk Uygur on Israel and Hamas

Too often, since October 7, the anti-Israel Hamas-sympathizing figures in the media have had their lies and propaganda go unchecked. But on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” this week, Cenk Uygur was roundly put in his place by bestselling author and columnist Douglas Murray in a righteously indignant takedown.

Poking holes all through Uygur’s arguments — and therefore also the smears being lobbed by his ilk — Murray demonstrated how vapid the catchphrase-y calls from those who seem enthused by the prospect of Hamas living to fight another day truly are.

After Uygur retreated to the usual talking points about needing a “two-state solution” and called Israel’s supporters — including Murray — a “monster” supporting “genocide” and not caring about civilian deaths in Gaza, Murray let him have it after correctly pointing out Uygur is “just a very low-rent racist.”

“Yes, I do care — I care very deeply about it,” Murray said in response to Uygur’s claim that he didn’t care about the death of Gazan children. “But I also know that the responsibility for their deaths lies on Hamas which has misgoverned their society for the last 16 years and now has been leading the country into being in a war with Israel. Yes, it’s on Hamas, this.”…

“As far as I can see, you’re very ill-traveled as well as rather ill-lettered and ill-spoken, and I mentioned that I cover wars and go to wars because I happen to think myself that it’s worth seeing things with your own eyes including things that you don’t particularly like but you report the truth,” Murray explained. “I don’t know if you ever even leave your own bedroom.”

Murray goes on to cite numerous other conflicts involving Muslims and points out that Uygur never talks about those situations because Jews are not involved.

Cenk is such a transparently dim-witted clown and fool — lazily parroting/regurgitating the vile Muslim supremacists’ and Dhimmi-crats’ standard talking points absolving perennially belligerent, supremacist and totalitarian Arab Muslims of a scintilla of responsibility for their jihadist ideology, their belligerent behavior and their corrupt and self-destructive governance, and, vilifying Israel and Israeli Jews.

I like how Stenk Uygur says “Why are you listening to hamas? Why are you letting hamas drive your agenda?” at the end … as if Israel is having some sort of reaction to hamas saying something.

I don’t know this Stenk guy. Never watched him. He seems like a moron. Maybe he’ll replace Gay at Hah-vahd. I think Hah-vahd is dying to get a muslim president.

Wish there was less constant chatter in social media of people needing to chime in, rather than simply enjoying the moment.

Loved what Murray said and the way he said it. He’s more outspoken as an American.

Murray has always been good, he’s not a Trump
Fan, or least he wasn’t, so I found myself not listening to him as much after seeing him on Rogan last year. I still agreed with him like 95% but , I’m a President Trump girl 110% and I found his reasons to not support him wanting.

But I now find myself in a quandary, I like Murray very much and he’s more than grown on me, especially after 10/7, he doesn’t mince words and he’s courageous and just a good person .

No quandry. You can like him and enjoy listening to his arguments without agreeing with him on some things.

He’s got a nice accent, which is half of his appeal, I think. He made a decent case. Not the greatest, but good enough. But it’s the general case against leftists who are very selective in their outrage.

Africa was chopping itself to pieces all over but the leftists could not take the continued existence of South Africa. And, so, they killed that. That place is in a dark doom spiral, now … and not a word from any of the leftists about it.

It would be nice if someone would point out, at some point, that pretty much the only reason for the UN to exist is to condemn Israel. I once counted up all the Security council resolutions and found something like 35 or 40% were anti-Israel resolutions of one form or another. If Israel would leave the UN that org would no have reason left to exist and would whither away … finally.

      I disagree, Murray, was masterful

He did well. That’s as far as I would go with it. I’m telling you, you’re letting the accent color your opinion 🙂

He did good, but I felt like he pulled several punches. For example, he let Uygur repeatedly spew nonsense numbers of Palestinian ‘civilian deaths’ that are nothing but rank propaganda. He should have shut that down hard… he could have easily done it by referencing the bogus ‘hospital bombing’ from early in the campaign.

He didn’t destroy Uygur nearly as badly as he did Malcolm Gladwell in that recent Monk debate… now that was a masterclass.

He did speak to the numbers I believe

Israel has been very careful in releasing actual numbers and I’d really like to know what they are. Anyone who spews Hamas numbers without a second thought should not be taken seriously

It was one of the more brutal takedowns I’ve seen in recent memory mostly because Murray is even tempered and just straight forward.

Next up, Cenk goes on Joy Reid to debate Dr. Jordan Peterson on morality then takes on Dr Sowell in economics.

Exactly. There are many people I don’t agree with on particular topics but listen to closely as they always have a reasoned argument as to why they got where they got. Tulsi is one I disagree with 90% of the time but I listen to her because she is a serious person and it helps me sharpen my own position in my disagreement with hers. Dr. Glenn Lowery is another as is Rep Dan Crenshaw.

That online murder was a pleasure.

While I enjoyed Murray’s takedown of the Hefty Jewhater, I felt like I needed a shower afterwards. It was like Murray walked into a room full of puppies & kittens carrying a Louisville Slugger, closed the door behind him, and proceeded to paint the walls red.

Cenk is a microcosm of the Progressives. Self righteous, arrogant, condescending to those who don’t think like he does because he is always right and possessing a smug knowledge that he is the smartest in the room because of his over inflated ego.

Murry is no shrinking violet and is a very smart person, someone Cenk should aspire to as smart and knowledgeable as. Cenk might has well have gone toe to toe with Jordan Peterson or Dr. Thomas Sowell.

The peace process in the region was a sham. After many years war has erupted and the awful consequences must be paid. Hamas must be exterminated as was the Japanese military control of Japan and the Nazi control of Germany. If Mr. Uygur has a better idea he should go to the region and convince the parties to execute it.

Murray is a great writer advocate and public intellectual whose books are a must read
