Report: Biden Admin Might Send Officials to Panama to Deal With U.S. Bound Migrants

How about we spend this money and time on our border?

CBS News reported that President Joe Biden’s administration wants to send immigration officials to Panama to address U.S.-bound migrants.

From the report:

The Department of Homeland Security has identified a team of officials with experience screening asylum-seekers and deporting migrants that will be dispatched to Panama once a final agreement is reached with that country’s government, which asked for the assistance, the U.S. government officials said, requesting anonymity in order to discuss internal plans.

The objective is to have personnel from various DHS agencies, including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Immigration and Customs Enforcement train and assist Panamanian authorities as they grapple with an extraordinary flow of migrants into the Darién Gap, a rugged jungle that connects Panama with South America.

These officials also want to train Panamanian officials how “to screen migrants for humanitarian protection and deport those who don’t qualify.” It will help Panama deal with its own immigration issues.

The officials told CBS News the State Department would pay for the initiative with subsidized funds:

The novel initiative would be subsidized by U.S. State Department funds. The administration has notified Congress that it intends to divert the money to DHS to fund the effort, which will only begin once Panama and the U.S. finalize a formal agreement.

The “goal of the program is to provide technical assistance and other capacity building so that they can basically create a more robust program to repatriate migrants who do not establish a legal basis to remain in Panama,” the senior U.S. official told CBS News.

The border patrol had over 2.47 million encounters in FY 2023, setting an all-time record.

FY 2024 started off with a bang. The border patrol had almost 250,000 encounters with migrants in October 2023. The border patrol also arrested 12 people on the FBI terror watchlist along the southern border. The border patrol on the northern border arrested one person on the list.

“. . . to Deal With US Bound Migrants.”

And what indication is there that their mission of dealing will not actually be to expedite the invasion of our country by said “Migrants”?

There are excellent port facilities on each end of the Canal. I can see the Democrats hiring ships, big ones, to transport the hostile foreign invaders to our soil as kind of a counterpart of the buses from our invaded states shipping the invaders to “sanctuary” cities and states farther north.

The real objective it’s probably to go down there and book direct flights for them so they don’t have to go all the way through mexico.

An anonyous source reports Biden as saying: “Time is of the essence, people. We’ve got an election coming up. Now get those migrants here to vote and do it now!

It makes absolutely no sense to suppose that any of these people will be voting in 2024, or even 2028. There is just no possible scenario in which that happens. Think about it. It’s impossible for them to vote legally, and the Democrats don’t need them here to vote illegally.

So glad no illegals vote in the US…. why remember how obviously succinct 0bama was when he mixed non resident (illegal) aliens as being Americans and voting? He didn’t expressly say no and nudged toward yes…. confusing… intentionally.

True… all of these immigrants are an investment in their one party forever rule of the land. If you think not… then I am so glad you bought that local bridge near you.

I didn’t suggest no illegals vote. Probably some do, for some reason or other. But almost no recent arrivals vote, and there’s certainly no Democrat plot to have them vote. There’s no indication of such a thing, no foundation for supposing one, and it makes no sense for the Democrats to do it. How exactly would it work? It’s impossible and stupid.

If there’s a Democrat plan for these people eventually to become legal, then to become citizens, and then to legitimately vote D, that’s a very long-term plan. There is no way for such a plan (if it exists) to affect 2024 or even 2028.

I have no idea what you are referring to.

So, now we are letting other countries screen illegal military age invaders to determine who qualifies? My bet, anyone who clears Panama’s “let’s keep this pile of shit out of our country” process will get an expedited trip to the US Of A.

This isn’t to “help” Panama reduce the burden on their country. If they want to reduce the burden on their country, all they have to do is keep them from crossing into Panama through the Darien Gap.

The disease, poisonous critters, wild animals, and murderous thieves in the Gap will expedite the demise of anyone stupid enough to try.

The Biden Admin should not be permitted to conduct foreign policy on behalf of the U.S. It simply cannot be trusted.

    Milhouse in reply to Q. | November 20, 2023 at 9:25 pm

Not be permitted?! By whom? It is the only entity that is legally entitled to do so. The constitution entrusts foreign policy entirely to one person, who was a dimwit even before he lost such marbles as he ever had.

And the pedantry flings itself into the conversation again. /sigh/
Do try to at least once in a while to understand the point of rhetoric.

Thank you, Mr. M, for keeping us on the legal rails, but we understand the legalities of this situation. Lighten up. The main thrust of my statement was intended to be rawly emotional, rather than legal or technical, in nature.

I wish you a pleasant Thanksgiving, devoid of any and all technical legal and factual misstatements, whether intended or otherwise (wisecracks included), whatsoever.

Are they sending Kamala? Isn’t this her “portfolio”?

Someone get Biden a map. Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico are all downstream of Panama and are key points of origin for illegal aliens.

Gee, maybe Biden should work out a deal with Mexico to hold the illegals on their side of the border until they can be screened? Wait, I think I’ve heard that before.

Open borders biden is the biggest human trafficker in history.

smh

It appears to me as an economist that very few appreciate hte horrendous economic costs of illegal immigration to our nation and people. These costs when total and inclusive of direct as well as indirect sots are immense and growing by the day. This invasion is designed to wreak havoc with our economy. It is deliberate and it is planned and it is financed with our money.

The total cost of the illegal immigrant tsunami invasion is ALWAYS misunderstood and vastly underestimated. The cost is ongoing and it has taken an immense toll on our economy. There are an estimated 40 millions of illegal immigrants and their children in this country today. Each one of them has a direct and indirect cost that total about $100,000 each per year including an estimated $35,000 per child for educational expenses and the huge cost of lower wages for native, legal American citizens. Its estimated that without these illegals the average wage would be 12% higher and that loss is an indirect, but measurable consequence of illegal immigration. Add it up. The cost is 4 TRILLION a year to the American economy. It is a cost that would not only wipe out the deficit but increase tax collections by an estimated $500B per year. Our entire infrastructure, physical and social, is deteriorating, collapsing because of this influx of basically useless, uninvited parasitic mouths that eat at our table.
