McDaniel: RNC Didn’t Invest in VA Elections Since Gov. Youngkin Said He ‘Didn’t Need Them There’

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told WMAL’s Larry O’Connor the conference didn’t spend any money in Virginia because Gov. Glen Youngkin told them to stay away.

The Democrats demolished the Republicans on Tuesday, taking the state’s Senate and House.

McDaniel confirmed the RNC didn’t help Virginia. But it’s not her fault:

O’Connor: What’s your analysis of the results in Virginia?McDaniel: The RNC is not a state committee. We’re a federal committee, right. Your candidates can take unlimited state dollars and your governor can take unlimited state dollars and he actually said, “We don’t need you guys here.”So I will say this about Virginia. Your governor did a great, great job. He got in, he’s pushing the bank the vote. But if you were there watching the ads like I was, every Democrat ad was about abortion. Every Republican ad was about crime and we’re cross talking. If Republicans can’t get up and say they are lying to you about my position on abortion on TV then the LIE becomes the truth and that’s what I will say. And I did not see that in Virginia.

I cued the video to start when Larry asked McDaniel the question.

Uh oh, Ronna.

Rich Anderson, Chair of the Virginia GOP, said he requested money from the RNC.

The RNC denied his request.

Anderson told Larry he would never tell the RNC that the state Republicans don’t need them there.
