McDaniel: RNC Didn’t Invest in VA Elections Since Gov. Youngkin Said He ‘Didn’t Need Them There’

McDaniel: RNC Didn’t Invest in VA Elections Since Gov. Youngkin Said He ‘Didn’t Need Them There’

Rich Anderson, Chair of the Virginia GOP, said he requested money from the RNC. The RNC denied his request.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel told WMAL’s Larry O’Connor the conference didn’t spend any money in Virginia because Gov. Glen Youngkin told them to stay away.

The Democrats demolished the Republicans on Tuesday, taking the state’s Senate and House.

McDaniel confirmed the RNC didn’t help Virginia. But it’s not her fault:

O’Connor: What’s your analysis of the results in Virginia?

McDaniel: The RNC is not a state committee. We’re a federal committee, right. Your candidates can take unlimited state dollars and your governor can take unlimited state dollars and he actually said, “We don’t need you guys here.”

So I will say this about Virginia. Your governor did a great, great job. He got in, he’s pushing the bank the vote. But if you were there watching the ads like I was, every Democrat ad was about abortion. Every Republican ad was about crime and we’re cross talking. If Republicans can’t get up and say they are lying to you about my position on abortion on TV then the LIE becomes the truth and that’s what I will say. And I did not see that in Virginia.

I cued the video to start when Larry asked McDaniel the question.

Uh oh, Ronna.

Rich Anderson, Chair of the Virginia GOP, said he requested money from the RNC.

The RNC denied his request.

Anderson told Larry he would never tell the RNC that the state Republicans don’t need them there.

The RNC needs at least two things: Ronna out! And to start publicizing a plan to govern that goes far beyond one or two issues.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to EBurke. | November 10, 2023 at 2:48 pm

Apparently I was wrong. I thought that the Party established the planks of the platform that everyone running under that party followed and touted.

    I guess not.

If the RNC, and every down ballot candidate, thinks that abortion and crime are the ONLY two issues, then maybe those candidates and leaders need to pull their heads out.

    diver64 in reply to EBurke. | November 10, 2023 at 2:50 pm

Ronna Romney is the problem with the Professionally Republicans in charge. We can’t forget that Trump endorsed her for whatever reason but that doesn’t make it right. She is a total disaster and the DC Grifter class personified. Failing upwards at a pace that makes Kamala sick with envy. Vivek may be a jerk at times but he was dead on with his opening monologue at the debate. The MSM sucks and Ronna should resign.
Question: if you failed at your job for 4yrs straight would you still have it?

      MattMusson in reply to diver64. | November 10, 2023 at 3:41 pm

The RNC is a fundraising organization. That is the primary aim.
Supporting and winning elections is a distant second.

        diver64 in reply to MattMusson. | November 10, 2023 at 7:47 pm

Money is the lifeblood of politics and where to give it to make a difference is her responsibility which she failed at. Multiple times.

      Yes, it’s all
      President Trumps fault

Not all of it. But why did he endorse her?

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to retiredcantbefired. | November 10, 2023 at 6:01 pm

He made a mistake. He does that. I don’t think his endorxsement even carried that much weight. Personally, I really liked Harmeet Dhillon and didn’t really care much who Trump endorsed. My second choice was Mike Lindell, who would have done a great job.

retiredcantbefired in reply to retiredcantbefired. | November 10, 2023 at 7:19 pm

According to Kurt Schlichter, Trump had operatives whipping votes for Ronna at the RNC. Seems like he was serious about his endorsement.

If Trump was so politically stupid as to endorse her for this position, how can you trust Trump to do anything better if he becomes President again?

        diver64 in reply to JR. | November 10, 2023 at 7:46 pm

Well, he is a businessman and a very successful one at that. I hope that he learns from his mistakes and doesn’t make them twice. You don’t become a billionaire by being a fool.

I have to echo your question and following comment. Donald Trump showed during his presidency that he truly sucked at choosing subordinates. Despite liking many of his pronouncements and his past successes, I remain really troubled at his epic lack of judgement in choosing people to appoint and support. McDaniel is the quintessential example of that concern

And do a better job of recruiting candidates. My only choice for delegate and Senator was a Democrat. I’ve heard the same for Nova. You can’t win control if don’t run anybody. The VA GOP is a mess.

henrybowman in reply to gonzotx. | November 10, 2023 at 8:55 pm

You’re missing the point, gonzo. In Virginia, the GOP has been known to ignore entire races, running NOBODY to oppose a Democrat. “NOBODY” is always a worse choice than even Fetterman.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to henrybowman. | November 10, 2023 at 8:59 pm

I’m in PA and the GOP did not even bother to run anyone for county DA. This is a major county just outside of Philly and the GOP could not find one guy to run for DA??!! The lowlife dem ran unopposed. And that wasn’t the only race.

I had some GOP folks telling me that it costs money to run for DA but I told them that just having a name in there is worth something and they don’t have to put any money into it. But it is unconscionable to not even run someone, who would get the votes of everyone who goes party line, at the very least.

Many on Team Trump wanted the GOP in Virginia to fail because they saw Youngkin as a threat if he won. This is why people call them a cult. They literally only want one man to win.

stevewhitemd in reply to geronl. | November 10, 2023 at 1:17 pm

Define “many”. Who? Please name names. What exactly did they say? Point to what they said. When did they say it, and under what circumstances? What are their exact relationships to “Team Trump”?

inspectorudy in reply to geronl. | November 10, 2023 at 3:24 pm

My instincts tell me to say you are nuts, but my research tells me you are probably right. Trump hired Laura Loomer to be a negative influencer against the other candidates that he faces. Her job is to make them look bad in any way she can. Trump can be as unscrupulous as the worst. I still remember the lies he told about DeSantis that were instantly proven to be false. He had a good run in his term but he is flawed as a man.

Youngkin is a capitulating RINO that talks tough and does nothing to back up his mouth,..he is no political threat to Trump

ChrisPeters in reply to geronl. | November 10, 2023 at 6:42 pm

Anyone seeing Youngkin as a threat would surprise me. He may be a decent human being, but he is not a true conservative who will really fight for conservative principles. He was lucky to seize upon the issue of problems the Left has caused in Virginia’s schools. Without the issue, and resulting support he was able to raise, he likely would have lost his election.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | November 10, 2023 at 1:09 pm

I don’t understand all these people who are obvious, public failures in their jobs but refuse to resign. It used to be that the minute someone did something dumb or made a huge mistake (or suffered a loss in politics) they were gone, and they were gone willingly as they were embarrassed to be seen by the public. Nowadays, we have so many people who seem to actually revel in their public failures and have no shame about their ineptitude, stupidity, and incompetence. It is really strange and shows a serious demented mentality running through society.

You have to include in your consideration the possibility that the “public failures” were in fact the intended results. And the longer it goes on with no consequences, the more likely it is that such is the situation. The GOPe is not exempt from that possibility.

    Subotai Bahadur

ThePrimordialOrderedPair in reply to Subotai Bahadur. | November 10, 2023 at 2:47 pm

Sure … but even in those cases it used to be very difficult to find people who would intentionally make public failures in order to further a cause or collect a little money. There used to just be very strong emotional reactions wound through society that made public embarrassment too much for most people to endure, and surely too much for almost everyone to willingly submit themselves to.

We have birthed a couple of generations of people who do not get embarrassed and who seem to be pretty much psychopaths with little to no attachment to society, at all. This is entirely understandable for the left, as leftist ideology is specifically founded on the notion that there is no morality or objective right or wrong and that existence is an utterly meaningless collection of random particle interactions. Psychopathy is at the very foundation of leftist ideology … but to have to start dealing with these factory-second humans on the right …

“We have birthed a couple of generations of people who do not get embarrassed and who seem to be pretty much psychopaths with little to no attachment to society, at all.”

That pretty much sums up the left in our country today. No matter what they are caught doing they show no remorse or embarrassment. Swalwell sleeping with a Chinese spy. Pelosi making millions of dollars with inside trading. Schiff being caught lying over and over with no punishment or shame. Feinstein having a Chinese spy for her chauffeur for over 20 years. Biden lying so often that it is considered part of his personality. Hillary caught destroying emails that were subpoenaed and lying about Russian interference. Mayorkas allowing over 7 million illegals into our country while maintaining that the border is secure. All of these things should ruin anyone’s career but they don’t even phase Democrats. They simply cannot be shamed or embarrassed.

They have no humility or character and surround themselves with people that tell them how great they are. Pretty much that, I think

Ms. McDaniel makes a fair point — gotta give her that — about the advertising. Chicago pols understand that you never, EVER let the sun set on a lie. If your opponent is mis-stating your position, you go out THAT DAY and correct it. Never let the narrative be re-set so as to favor the lie.

Bill Clinton, not a bad President even with his personal faults as he was a pragmatist, concocted the infamous War Room to put exactly what you state into practice. Whatever comes out immediately respond, do not let it fester unanswered.

caseoftheblues | November 10, 2023 at 1:27 pm

Ronna WANTS. Republicans to LOSE. There is no other way to explain what she does and doesn’t do. And her record speaks for itself…. Wall to wall defeat

RINOs are always willing to set on the side line and armchair while blaming everyone but themselves.

Well, I’m reading an internal clusterfrack here. Reportedly in both cases, the state GOP head is the one who asked for money, but the state governor is the one who told Ronna to butt out. Now, both these things could have happened. It’s even possible neither one of the VA players knew what the other was doing. Of course, Ronna should have told the party head that “your governor doesn’t want our money” in her refusal letter, but… sssshhhh.

    diver64 in reply to henrybowman. | November 10, 2023 at 2:56 pm

Yeah. In the case of two conflicting statements she should have been proactive and got to the bottom immediately but instead she just blew the whole thing off and now is blaming them for her inaction. Classic tactic. She is a POS just like her dad.
I heard today that Manchin is thinking of teaming with Mitt and running for President under the No Labels party. Oh, boy. Just what America has been waiting for. DC has a way of enlarging ego’s to the stratosphere.

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | November 10, 2023 at 3:34 pm

It’s entirely possible that Youngkin told Rona McDaniel that they didn’t want the RNC to come in and start telling the ‘yokel State level VA GoP’ how/what to do. That’s not even close to the same thing as saying ‘we don’t want additional funding from the RNC’.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | November 10, 2023 at 5:29 pm

Reading elsewhere the story seems to be:
      1. The VA State GoP asked the RNC for $ last summer.
      2. RNC basically said ‘sorry bro we gotta focus on ’24’

Now Rona McDaniel is doing what mediocre people do when they repeatedly fail….blame others. Sprinkled in is the typical weasel language of misdirection and deflection of the laptop class phony experts.

If you notice she isn’t denying that the VA GoP asked for help with funding. Nor is she denying that the RNC told them to pound sand. Instead she raises up Youngkin. Apparently Gov Youngkin didn’t pucker his lips to desired degree to kiss her ass. Eff this incompetent broad. She is a failure as evidenced by 2018, 2020, 2022 and now 2023. She presided over a net loss of 7 Governors, 3 US Senators and the Presidency. Not to mention losing the HoR in 2018 and 2020 then somehow nearly losing the HoR again in ’22.

If we look back at the NJ Gov race in ’21 where Murphy came a hair from being defeated and RNC funding wasn’t made available to his GoP challenger …. we see a similar pattern, just as we did in viewing all the funding decisions of the establishment GoP and their PACs.

No more excuses for this incompetent and no more excuses for those who pushed her and endorsed her for reelection as RNC in ’22 despite her record of failure for not doing whatever it takes to get her incompetent ass out of the way.

This kind of crap is why I never vote party. Either the candidate makes their case, their opponent makes their case, or I stay at home and don’t waste my time on either one of them.

That lady is bad news. Always explaining why things went wrong. Never responsible for things she has responsibility for. She’s there because there are too many establishment types to prop her up. Hope they see the light.

If Republicans at the state and federal level don’t know that abortion is the democratic goto issue, why not? If they know, where are the arguments to support our side? RPVA has a history of knowing how to lose. They got help from the national party. God help us all
If we can’t win in this environment.

Roe V Wade Overturn has been a huge gift to Dems in their elections. You can’t really deny that at this point.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to healthguyfsu. | November 10, 2023 at 3:04 pm

It it is clearly the gift that keeps on giving, and wrapped up in a nice bow by the Republicans.

IMO it will be a short shelf life….assuming idiots like Lindsey Graham can restrain themselves from talking about a Federal level abortion ban. After a cycle or two of legislative sessions and ballot initiatives the States will have updated their abortion statutes and the dust will settle.

Once everyone comes to understand that without Federal intervention no one is going to make it any easier or any harder to get an abortion in their State than the voters of their State decided upon it will recede a bit.

healthguyfsu in reply to CommoChief. | November 10, 2023 at 4:08 pm

Depends. If fear-mongering propaganda about overturning state abortion policy is thrown out then it will probably lead to more of the same.

Abortion was literally put on the ballot in Ohio (not just candidates on views) and their state said they want it by majority. That tells you it can be used to manipulate the populace for the foreseeable future.

CommoChief in reply to healthguyfsu. | November 10, 2023 at 5:44 pm

How they gonna do that in Ohio though? It’s a one and done for the most part on these State Constitutional amendment votes. The only thing gonna get the pro abortion folks in Ohio fired up is some jackass in Congress threatening Federal legislation to undercut the choice the voters just made. Same in every other State.

healthguyfsu in reply to CommoChief. | November 10, 2023 at 4:10 pm

BTW I don’t think Lindsey Graham is a particularly stupid person. He gets selectively vocal at the most inopportune* times.

*It’s actually a great opportunity for someone in a solidly red state that wants to continue to be voted into the minority and not have to be responsible for anything in DC except filling his own pockets. That doesn’t really help his constituents or conservatives in general, though.

CommoChief in reply to healthguyfsu. | November 10, 2023 at 5:39 pm

I was willing to cut him some.slack for.stupidity but if you think he does this dumbass shit by deliberate design…. OK.

He isn’t an actual ‘conservative’. He uses abortion to stir up and burnish his cred by taking about it. He and his buddy Hannity love to talk but never seem to accomplish very much nor when it’s nut cutting time are very willing to get their hands dirty. For them its always an excuse about compromise and the base of the GoP which has become populist gets hosed on its goals and policy priorities.

Federalism is the answer to a great many problems. If NY wants to descend into a dystopian nightmare…. OK, as long NY understands the results and the costs are their own to deal with. For goodness sake don’t try and make a one size fits all national policy that doesn’t actually fit the desires of any State. Leave the Federal govt out of our lives as much as possible and we would be far better off as a Nation.

Mauiobserver in reply to healthguyfsu. | November 11, 2023 at 1:35 am

Disagree on Graham as he takes the most stupid statements of any of the GOP Senators with the possible exception of Romney. He called Ashley Babbit’s murderer a hero, He believes funding the war in Ukraine till their male population is destroyed is Americas highest political priority.

Last week the fool came out and said that in response to Iranian militias firing rockets at US bases in Iraq that we should destroy Irans oil production. Great idea to tank the world’s economy. By cutting off China’s oil source surely they would just sit back and allow their country to collapse. The guy is not only a moron but a certified lunatic.

      Let’s just murder the babies

      Kinda of like Hamas

I think that is mostly because Republicans have ceded the field to Dems on the issue allowing them to define it. Republicans need to figure out messaging on abortion and quickly. One person this week suggested Republicans should immediately respond to the scare mongering “Repubs want to be in your womb” nonsense with “SCOTUS has said it’s a State issue and the State’s voters will decide it” then drop it and move on.

Constantly say that at every opportunity while reminding those Dems who suddenly are all in on body autonomy that just a few years ago they locked people in their homes and wanted them fired from their jobs if they didn’t get an experimental shot proven to do no good. Where were they on body autonomy then?

This will be an opportunity to see if Trump will admit his mistake by backing her and demanding that she resign. If not, then he hasn’t learned a thing from his first basket of failures and the future doesn’t look good for his future cabinet.

Ronna should resign. I do not believe her saying that no money was asked for as lets face it no politician will never turn down money or help. Ronna is a liar.

Whatever her excuse she cannot deny the fact that under her leadership thr Republicans have not fared well

    That’s what Trump wanted.

      diver64 in reply to JR. | November 10, 2023 at 7:51 pm

        diver64 in reply to diver64. | November 11, 2023 at 5:59 am

He endorsed her for the position and has not commented much on it since then. Maybe he was courting the Romney Never Trump wing of the Republicans in Congress. With Mitt dropping out this might change. I sure hope it changes.

I have noticed that the next debate was announced and suddenly the MSM and it’s Dem hacks will not be involved. It will be run by Meagan Kelly. She is not a real fan of Trump but I think she will ask very tough questions and not let anyone off the hook.

CommoChief in reply to Paddy M. | November 11, 2023 at 7:58 am

There was a serious groundswell of opposition to re-election of Rona McDaniel as RNC Chair post ’22 midterms. She is not exactly setting the world on fire with GoP victories during her tenure from ’17 to put it mildly.

A serious internal challenge within/among the movers and shakers who have a vote for RNC Chair was made by the more populist folks. The GoP base was calling for her head.

Instead of backing the challenge to remove the proven failure McDaniel Trump decided to throw his considerable weight behind her candidacy to remain RNC Chair.

Refusing to acknowledge this fact or attempting to minimize it along with the consequences stemming from it is not helpful to offering good faith debate/discussion.

IOW no bitching about the GoP at the leadership level from you and others who don’t/won’t acknowledge that Trump effed up by backing McDaniel. She was his choice and when she continues to eff up and make poor decisions y’all gonna have have eat it and smile. This is the bed Trump made, no complaining that it is uncomfortable.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | November 11, 2023 at 2:28 am

By the way … in the clip, Ronna seemed almost giddy that Virginia got trounced and that the RNC didn’t lift a finger to help.

She had better be yanked out of the RNC chair within a week … and they need to get the Senate post-turtle going with her, too. But I have no faith that anything will be done. The Vandals are going to continue to be let right into the city to slash and burn everything in sight.
