Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown has suspended Zainab Chaudry, an official with the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR), from the state’s hate crimes commission over pro-Hamas comments Chaudry made on Facebook.

Gabby Deutch of the Jewish Insider broke the news on Twitter:

From Anthony Brown’s press release:

Statement from Attorney General Brown on the Maryland Commission on Hate Crimes Response and Prevention

BALTIMORE, MD (November 21, 2023) – The Office of Attorney General learned last week about personal social media posts of a member of the Maryland Commission on Hate Crimes Response and Prevention, Zainab Chaudry, Executive Director of the Council on AmericanIslamic Relations – Maryland Office (CAIR-MD). The Commission was established by legislation passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor during the 2023 session. The Commission is charged with developing strategies to prevent and respond to hate crime activity, evaluating State laws and policies relating to hate crimes, and reporting annually to both the General Assembly and the Maryland State Department of Education…

Attorney General Brown has determined that Ms. Chaudry’s social media posts risk disrupting the work and mission of the Commission, so he is announcing steps that he took today to ensure that the vital work and mission of the Commission can continue without interruption.

FOX News has details on Chaudry’s comments:

Maryland hate crime task force member claimed babies murdered by Hamas were ‘fake,’ compared Israel to Nazis

A member of a Maryland task force aimed at combating hate crimes published numerous antisemitic social media posts, including claiming that the babies brutally murdered in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack were “fake,” and comparing the nation of Israel to Nazi Germany.

Zainab Chaudry, an anti-Israel activist who serves as the director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) Maryland office, made the posts in the weeks following Hamas’ attack, which saw more than 1,200 people killed, including children and babies, as well as numerous rapes and destruction of property.

“I will never be able to understand how the world summoned up rage for 40 fake Israeli babies while completely turning a blind eye to 3,000 real Palestinian babies,” Chaudry wrote in a Facebook post dated Oct. 26.

“[T]hat moment when you become what you hated most,” Chaudry wrote in an Oct. 17 post, including two photos of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, one showing it lit up with the Israeli flag in solidarity with Israel following the attack, and another from a ceremony in 1936 when it was decorated with the flag of Nazi Germany during the Olympics that year.

Fake Israeli babies? Perhaps something more severe than a suspension is warranted here.

Make no mistake about CAIR, it was created by 3 ex IAP, a terrorist organization which was closed down.

They should have been shut down after 9/11 (if not before). But they were not only left alone, they were CONSULTED by the US government. Who knows why.

CAIR was (unethically) identified as an “unindicted coconspirator”, which means the government didn’t have the evidence to indict it. So it couldn’t be shut down. Without evidence that it committed a crime, it’s protected by the first amendment.

She likely thought she was appointed to Maryland’s Hate Commission.

Ok. That’s a start, but a more pressing matter is why is there an orwellian gubmint entity called ‘hate crime task force’??

CAIR has been a pro-terrorist supporter for a long time. The Maryland AG is very late to this game. But, now that Ms. Chaudry has established her Hate-credentials, maybe she can run for Congress and join the Squad.

the Baller Move would have been to dismantle the Hate Crimes Commission as a colossal waste of money that it is.

WE weep for all the babies Hamas has killed, including the 40 Israeli and the 3000 Palestinian.

Because it is Hamas who killed ALL of them.

I first became aware of CAIR when they were bashing Steve Emerson on the Society of Professional Journalists forum SPJ-L. I contacted Emerson and he supplied a wealth of information about CAIR. Emerson produced Jihad in America: The Grand Deception which ran on PBS. This was well before 9-11.

When 9-11 occurred, CAIR was scrambling to remove incriminating material from their website. Steve Emersion was right then and today.

Should CAIR be prosecuted for sedition?

      Milhouse in reply to JohnSmith100. | November 23, 2023 at 7:41 am

If by “sedition” you mean advocating horrible things, that is protected by the first amendment. Any law that purports to make it a crime is automatically invalid.

So no. If you’re aware of evidence that it has committed an actual crime, such as giving material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, pass it on to to the FBI. But mere advocacy cannot be prosecuted.

The only time these people are happy is when they are angry or when others suffer.

Big Mo himself said it, “I have been made victorious through terror.”

It is taken for granted, even among many Washington policymakers, that Islam is a fundamentally peaceful religion and that Islamic jihad terrorism is something relatively new, a product of the economic and political ferment of the twentieth century. But in The History of Jihad: From Muhammad to ISIS, Islamic scholar Robert Spencer proves definitively that Islamic terror is as old as Islam itself, as old as Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, who said “I have been made victorious through terror.”

    Review is worth reading.

I’d like to know where CAIR gets its money, because the answer to that question may tell us whether CAIR is a foreign entity.

CAIR lost about 90% of its American Muslim membership between 2001 and 2007 due it its turn toward radicalism.

It’s hard to find out much about its funding, but it’s taste for terrorism apparently has not diminished.

Of course, we’ve added an awful lot of unvetted people over the last three years, and they seem to have a very easy entry to American welfare. Somebody is giving them direction and applying on their behalf.

This woman should meet the NC Dem politician written about in the article following this one.

Wait..What??? CAIR is an anti-semitic group of jihadis that want Jews annihilated? This is my stunned face, I mean, who knew?

You can’t polish a turd. CAIR is a front for terrorists, PERIOD.

I don’t know if it will be available in the USA, it’s not that easy to access in the UK, but if you can get at it and you’ve got a strong stomach the site ‘hamas.com’ is a real eye-opener.
