Riley Gaines Event Protested by Activists at Harvard

At Harvard, pro-Hamas rallies are free speech but Riley Gaines is dangerous and must be protested.

Harvard activists protest Riley Gaines appearance by throwing a ‘Big Trans Party’
Swimmer Riley Gaines, who’s been speaking out against the participation of biological men in women’s sports, made an appearance at Harvard University on Thursday.
But progressive activists, including members of TransHarvard, the Queer Students Association, and Harvard Law’s Women’s Law Association, threw a “Big Trans Party” — which included posters and speeches — to protest Gaines’ talk, The Crimson reports.
According to the report, in her talk Gaines “repeatedly misgendered transgender athletes,” including University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas against whom Gaines competed in the NCAA swimming championships.
“Men are men, women are women,” Gaines said. “There are only two sexes. You can’t change your sex and each sex is deserving of equal opportunities.”
Gaines said that being called “transphobic” has “literally no meaning” to her — she considers it a “term of endearment.”
“I think if we’re labeling pro-woman as anti-trans, wouldn’t that inherently mean pro-trans is anti-woman?” Gaines asked. “I’m most certainly pro-woman and I’m not advocating for the exclusion of trans athletes.You just compete where it is fair and where it’s safe.”
Chastity Bowick of the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts told Big Trans Party protesters to “continue letting your voices be heard [and] your faces be seen.”
“[T]hat is the only way that we’re going to create concrete change for our trans youth,” Bowick said.

I respectfully beg to differ with Ms. Gaines on the issue of
“transmen” competing with women. Specifically, it is when she says: “I’m not advocating for the exclusion of trans athletes. You just compete where it is fair and it is safe.” Well, IMHO transmen should never be allowed to compete with women. Men have a distinct athletic advantage over women and will almost always out-compete them. It is a travesty that men either suffering from gender dysphoria, or simply faking it to get medals they otherwise could not win fairly, should be allowed to compete with women.
It depends on the sport. Some sports don’t hinge on brawn, such as competitive shooting. You can identify them because the existence of a “women’s division” is highly sporadic and generally viewed as unnecessary.
That quote says they should be able to compete where it is safe and fair. Unless I am missing something, she did not say they should be able to compete against women.
Harvard has become woke trash dumpster fire.
They don’t teach critical thinking nowadays at ivy league colleges. Its all conformity to CRT, DEI, BLM, LGBT.
And the CRT, DIE, BLM, and LGBT are f**in grifting hypocritical liars. They are so worried about micro-aggressions but when it comes to macro-aggressions against Jewish students they’re front and center threatening the Jews.
It will be interesting to see if President Gay keeps her job now that many of Harvard’s big donors are withholding their support.
People seem to forget that the entire system of higher education was built before the internet. And before Kindle. And audiobooks. And smart phones.
A big reason to enroll at a university in the past was specifically to get access to the university library. And to professors who had knowledge that one could not get anywhere else.
But today almost everyone has access to virtually all knowledge.
These emperors who run these universities are absolutely naked. I mean c’mon people … boys girls birds bees. Ok?

There are two conflicting goals. The people who have worked for decades on developing rules of competition for various sports (in conjunction with exerecise physiologists and medical professionals) have the stated goal of fair competition. That is why we have weight classes in combat sports, and age groups in long distance running events.
Recently, there are a group of activists who challenge the work and judgments of the “fair competition” decision makers. Instead, they worry about hurting the feelings of trans athletes, even though trans athletes do not represent a statistically significant number of elite athletes.
There is horrible conflict because historically, LGBT rights were based on an argument that what happens in the privacy of ones bedroom is nobody’s business. Also, historically, human sexual hormones were considered to be illegal performance enhancing drugs.
The only way out of this clash is to say:
1) Rules of competition must be based on promoting fair competition.
2) We don’t care about the private life of athletes. Any rules adopted are not making any value judgments about the lifestyle choices of athletes.
3) Decisions should be based on the best available medical and athletic performance data — and not based upon how many people protest at Harvard.
Over the last couple of years at Princeton, President and Trustees have underscored rights to free speech. Disruption and/or prevention of campus events that one does not agree with, is subject to campus discipline (yes, even “double secret probation”).
I am not sure how/if this would have been extended if Women’s Swim Team spoke out against having to swim against “Lia” Thomas.
There are no such creatures as “trans” anything. What there are, are human beings who suffer from extreme mental illness who need and deserve psychological treatment to overcome their illnesses. I actually pity them but I am furious at the morons who enable their illness. They are equally ill.
