Report: White House Not Allowing Officials to Travel to Conferences Promoting Fossil Fuels
Does that mean John Kerry has to abandon private airplanes and transportation?
Fox News reported that an internal memo to the Department of Energy (DOE) from the White House National Security Council (NSC) forbids officials from traveling to conferences promoting fossil fuels.
The guidance started in November 2021:
The memo was authored by Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk who outlined travel restrictions and stated officials are required to obtain approval from the NSC before attending any global energy engagement.
“This guidance sets out a presumption that agencies and departments will pursue international energy engagement that advances clean energy projects,” Turk wrote in the memo. “It also outlines a process for seeking limited exceptions to pursue carbon-intensive engagements on a justified geostrategic imperative or energy-for-development/energy access basis.”
“The guidance rules out any U.S. Government ‘engagement related to unabated or partially abated coal generation,’” he continued. “Carbon-intensive international energy engagements are those ‘directly related and dedicated to the production, transportation, or consumption of carbon-intensive fuels that would lead to additional greenhouse gas emissions.'”
The fossil fuels include coal, natural gas, and oil.
An April 2022 memo told the department how to achieve the new rules.
Officials can attend the conferences “if they advance national security or are essential to support energy access in vulnerable areas.”
The latest memo, dated September 2023, said, “Departments and Agencies are required to submit exemption justifications to the NSC and receive NSC concurrence before proceeding with a covered engagement.”
OK, so the officials cannot travel and attend conferences about fossil fuels.
If those officials have to attend a conference about green energy…do they have to use green energy transportation?

I am an engineer, not an attorney. Why can the federal government pursue an action and bypass the NEPA process? Seems they should argue their climate change hoax through an EIS process.

All this is doing is to raise the collective intelligence of the people of those conferences massively.
They no longer have to slow down the presentations for the benefit of the short-bus people.
And reduce the number of interruptors who stomp noisily out in the middle of presentations.

And that is because they want to pretend to be deaf and mute about anything that supports all types of energy as the industry that gradually keeps working on cleaning up! WHY? They are not the friends of the poor or middle class in this country. For some years now the democrats have been the party of the Elite and they mask it by saying one thing and doing two or three other things instead. They go in with goodies for the poor just before elections and work, work, work to keep that base then they disappear.. Honestly, I was a fourth generation democrat – about 15 years down the road I looked up the figures on the results of the Great Society and The War on Poverty and in all cases the numbers %s were all worse for those they set out to “help”! Now I think those at the top have dipped so far into depravity and greed for power and money for themselves, that they keep the poor in that condition to remain their base. That they are losing some of that has probably everything to do with the Open Border Policy that is a driver of our very possible demise as a Great and Prosperous nation!!! God help us if we do not get rid of the political powers we have put in those jobs!!
So in essence they are saying “no one can go to any conferences that tell you anything unless Big Brother approves what is being said there”, right? And no one will be able to go to these conferences unless they pay their own way. What tyranny!!!!!!
