PA President Abbas, Jordan King Abdullah Cancel Visit With Biden Due to Gaza Hospital Strike

Jordan and Palestinian Authority believe Israel struck the hospital despite obvious evidence showing a Hamas misfired rocket.

President Joe Biden is currently on his way to Israel to show solidarity with the country.

Biden also planned to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Jordan King Abdullah, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.

That meeting is canceled because they are pushing Hamas’s claims that Israel struck a Gaza hospital:

Biden sent Abdullah “his deepest condolences for the innocent lives lost in the hospital explosion in Gaza, and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded,” the White House official says, being careful not to place blame on a particular party as the US works to determine who was responsible.

“Biden looks forward to consulting in person with these leaders soon, and agreed to remain regularly and directly engaged with each of them over the coming days,” the White House official adds.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Abbas today in Jordan.

Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain also blame Israel for the strike. Hezbollah has called for a “day of rage” over the strike.

IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said the forces determined that a Hamas misfired rocket struck the hospital.

Videos confirm it as well. Not a shock that the MSM, leftists, and nations like Jordan believe the words of terrorists. Need to check how many of them corrected their stories.

Right. It’s not a handy excuse to not waste time with the corpse that mumbles.

Yep no reason to be photographed standing next to stumbling mumbling biden, the useful idiot of Iran and Hamas.

henrybowman in reply to Gosport. | October 17, 2023 at 10:49 pm

    They snubbed Brandon in mid-air!
    “Don’t bother coming after all!”
Not a thing they would have done to any other president in my lifetime, including Trump.

Facts and truth do not matter to terrorists

Dimsdale in reply to geronl. | October 17, 2023 at 7:08 pm

Like their allies the Democrat socialists, they manufacture their own “facts” on the fly. Whatever is advantageous to them is all that counts.

Concise in reply to geronl. | October 18, 2023 at 11:38 am

And, now that the evidence clearly shows whatever damage occurred was solely the fault of the terrorist animals, where is the media acknowledging their highly damaging parroting of the Hamas lies? I hear nothing but more fake casualty figures from various disreputable sources.

The reason they cancelled is because they could’t find any translators who could translate low gutteral whispers of a senile idiot into Arabic.

To be clear, both Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have chosen to to refuse to meet with POTUS to figure out a way to potentially de-escalate this situation. They do so b/c they claim that an exclusively non military target was deliberately hit causing civilian deaths and injuries. Hamas then makes a.worldwide appeal for another ‘day of rage’ v Israelis and the West in general.

Ok your terms are acceptable. Which means that b/c Hamas deliberately attacked Israeli civilians not just killing them but gleefully mutilating their corpses after most were tortured and raped, not to mention the 200 or so folks taken hostage by Hamas that Israel and the West are free to ignore any potential path to de-escalate and to call for their own ‘day of rage’ v Palestinians and their allies.

Until the leadership in the West understand that near reciprocal ruthlessness is required they will continue to fail when confronting these terrorist groups. They only respect the willingness to use overwhelming and irresistible force. They view anything less as weakness to be exploited for their advantage. Bring the pain or STFU.

Jordan signed peace treaty with israel. They just don’t want to be associated with stumbling mumbling biden, international symbol of weakness.

Milhouse in reply to smooth. | October 17, 2023 at 8:17 pm

Hussein signed the treaty for what he could get from it, but he didn’t mean very much by it, and in any case Abdullah is now king. The “peace” with Jordan since 1994 is no warmer than the state of “war” that had reigned since 1967. As far as I can tell Israel has gained absolutely nothing from it. The Jordanian people and their elected parliament still hate Jews and treat Israel as an enemy, exactly as they had before 1994. There can be no doubt that should a war break out and Jordan were to see a chance that it might actually succeed, it would abrogate the treaty and join in. So I wouldn’t ascribe this cancellation on any aversion to Biden; it’s Israel they’re averse to.

smooth in reply to Milhouse. | October 17, 2023 at 8:37 pm

There is only liability is being associated with biden at this point. Stumbling mumbling biden is unpredictable in front of the microphone. Once that bell is rung, its impossible to unring it.

CommoChief in reply to smooth. | October 17, 2023 at 8:30 pm

Uh huh but a 3 decade old peace treaty has jack and squat to do with them choosing to work with POTUS and thus the USA and the American People to potentially find a way to de-escalate. They put other concerns above that goal so eff them, Hamas and any apologists for them.

smooth in reply to CommoChief. | October 17, 2023 at 8:50 pm

Firstly its not Jordan’s role to solve the Gaza dispute.

Secondly biden isn’t capable of leading any kind of mid-east coalition, because biden is perceived as weak in the arab street and there is no way to unring that bell.

Thirdly biden could very well be one term and done, with no future.

CommoChief in reply to smooth. | October 17, 2023 at 10:24 pm

Nope it isn’t anyone’s responsibility but Hamas to seek to prevent their upcoming ass kicking. They could immediately return the hostages and make an unconditional surrender. That might do it if the terrorist bitter enders could be convinced by Hamas leadership to abide by it and give their full throated endorsement of any/all means Israel deems necessary to impose that unconditional surrender.

Outside that very unlikely event there is room for regional leaders and the US to make at least a pro forma attempt to find an acceptable way to de-escalate. By rejecting this opportunity Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have ceded any legitimate criticism for what comes next.

Biden isn’t the issue that’s a weak attempt to distract from the abject failure of Jordan and the PA to make an effort. Like it or lump it Biden is POTUS and represents the American People. Not very well mind you, nor do I approve of his policies but he like every POTUS is temporarily the Chief Executive of the US Govt.

IMO, we should always be willing to make an effort to find a way to avoid violence even when it’s a 1000 to 1 odds. When folks reject the opportunity to even discuss an alternative they can’t legitimately protest the consequences. This isn’t a video game it’s real lives at stake. While I could care less about Hamas and the people who elected and supported them I do care if the IDF has casualties that might have been avoided.

Palestinians are Jordanians so it probably is his role to look after his people.

Milhouse in reply to mailman. | October 18, 2023 at 8:10 am

          Palestinians are Jordanians

          No, they’re not.

I would imagine Brandon wanted to meet to make sure Jordan stayed out of any upcoming fighting involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. He probably also was going to request landing rights for American aircraft if it came to that and emergency landing rights for Israeli planes if Israel has to go into Lebanon. He would not be asking for Jordan to take in Pali “refugees” as Jordan has already been quite clear that answer is no having already had it’s go around with the terrorists and threw them out

jagibbons in reply to smooth. | October 18, 2023 at 8:12 am

I pray you are right on that third point, and that the future isn’t governor hairdo from CA.

For the moment it appears the rocket started a small fire in the parking lot of the hospital.

Would this be the same hospital destroyed by the terrorist animals Hamas? The one which they were likely using as cover to store munitions?

PIJ rocket. Not IDF

If it was a PIJ rocket and not an IDF strike then I suppose Israel must tell the truth, but in a way it’s a pity. I’d almost rather Israel lied and claimed the strike itself; saying “we didn’t do it” sounds apologetic, when the tone that is needed is defiance. “Yes, we did it and we’re not sorry, and if you keep storing weapons in hospitals and using them as military bases we’ll do it again.” Israel must confront and refute this crazy idea that there’s something in international law that forbids strikes on military targets just because they happen to house hospitals.

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | October 17, 2023 at 10:30 pm

Alternatively they could simply hit a series of a dozen similar size buildings in Gaza without restraint in an deliberate attempt to level them. Then invite folks to see the difference between the dozen deliberately targeted structures and the hospital. Probably won’t work but worth a shot b/c I doubt Hamas and their true believing apologists would notice anything else.

Turn the plane around before making things worse.

Iran’s nuclear capability should be taken out. It’s called deterrence.

The ignition is the small part…this rocket or that rocket, who cares….

The secondary / larger explosions came from where? Being able to sneak those into place prior to the launch is the crafty part. Storing explosives near a hospital is the tell.

It sounds like Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan King Abdullah have the same disregard for facts and evidence as the U.S. woke media. Pres Biden belongs to the same school of thought and will completely understand their intentional blindness.

    diver64 in reply to Q. | October 18, 2023 at 4:57 am

No, I think they both know that it was an errant missile from Hamas and the explosion was a giant weapons cache under the hospital. The event just gave both an excuse not to meet with Brandon. To think that one of the first things Brandon did after declaring the Trump oil sanctions on Iran null allowing 2,000,000 barrels a day to be sold to China was unfreezing $200,000,000 “humanitarian aid” to the PLO.

    CincyJan in reply to Q. | October 18, 2023 at 8:48 am

The King of Jordan is walking a fine line, I think. Jordan has a number of Palestinians within its borders, and many sympathizers.who hate Israel. I also suspect that almost any important move happens in secret in this part of the world, where dissemination of alternate realities is an art form. Whatever Jordan’s public stance, Jordan has learned to coexist with Isreal.

“Biden also planned to meet Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Jordan King Abdullah, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.

“That meeting is canceled because they are pushing Hamas’s claims that Israel struck a Gaza hospital:”

That actually is Abbas, Abdullah and el-Sissi politely letting Biden know just where they really stand with respect to a USA headed by the likes of Biden.

Big explosion. Maybe hamas should find somewhere else to hide their bombs from their own barrage of rockets.
Probably kill fewer human shields by doing that.

Traitor Joe has no business making this trip, at all. This is one of the dumbest (and perhaps nastiest) moves that any President has ever made. There is absolutely NO REASON for Traitor Joe to be over there … but we know that he is just going there to try and stop Israel from defending itself. This is pathetic and moronic and so extremely dangerous for the civilized world.

Traitor Joe refused to let Bibi anywhere near the White House for two and a half years but now the geriatric mental midget criminal feels the need to physically fly over to Israel, trip his way across the tarmak, make pretend his thoughts on anything matter, and then probably soil his pants on his way back to Air Farce One.

It is really unbelievable how completely corrupt and craven and criminal and stupid this junta is. You could not script a more despicable, incompetent, imbecilic government than this 3rd term of Barky’s America-hating junta.

It is totally believable. We see the results of this bs every day.

“Captain, we need to file a new flight plan, find out if Zelenskyy is available for an impromptu meeting, tell him we have another check for him.”

This meeting was a lie, all for appeasement optics (besides, hiding Joe in AF1 is better than out in public). I’m guessing everyone knew it would never be held anyway….what world leader, especially these two, would entertain having The Addled Brained Hologram and his Anti-Trip Handlers in their midst to make them look foolish?

Unreal what the They have done in short order to Make America Weak…top to bottom inside of 2.5 years.

After paying off both of them for years it is hard to understate what a humiliation it is for the US under Brandon to be snubbed like this.

“Israel bombs hospital, hundreds dead” fits the narrative too well to actually be factually verified before reacting. Notice that many UK MP’s have jumped on that band wagon along with the usual suspects in the Middle East.

Two points: (1) Hamas may or may not have accidentally blown up its own hospital; or Iranian masterminds, horrified by the civilized world’s reaction to the Hamas incursion into Israel, may have ordered the act with the intent of blaming Israel; (2) Hamas will never release the hosatages; live hostages would testify to their treatment at Hamas’ hands, and all evidence is that treatment would be brutal past endurance.

“It would not be the first time Israel tried to deny something that they were responsible for.” Al Jazeera reporter, on evidence that their side did it.

I don’t blame them, but just say it’s because he’s a pedophile.

For the President of the United States to travel to the Middle East and then have our supplicant recipients of foreign aid largess *PLO, Jordan, Egypt) renege on the meeting, even a scaled down meeting, shows how pitiful is the current state of American foreign diplomacy. This is worse than anything that Obama did in his presidency.

The central problem with the Gaza is that Hamas keeps directing foreign aid to military applications. The Biden administration has misdiagnosed the problem and therefore as developed the wrong solution. Gaza does not need more money. It needs to devote current foreign aid to economic development rather than the support of the Hamas military objectives.
