NYC Mayor Adams Trip to Latin America Fails as Migrants Say They’ll Still Travel to New York

NYC Mayor Adams Trip to Latin America Fails as Migrants Say They’ll Still Travel to New York

“No matter what, people are going to get there, and I’m not going to be discouraged by what a politician says or a mayor says.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams went to Colombia, Darién Gap (a dangerous jungle separating Panama and Colombia), Ecuador, and Mexico to convince people not to come to New York City.

Adams failed. Miserably.

Many people in those areas said they will still come to America and New York:

In more than a dozen interviews this week in Necoclí and on the streets of Mexico City and Ecuador’s capital, Quito, most U.S.-bound migrants said that they would not be dissuaded by Mr. Adams’s statements. The city has been increasingly overwhelmed by the 120,000 migrants who have arrived since last year; sheltering them has become so costly that the mayor has called for budget cuts. On his trip, Mr. Adams has called for countries to work together to help the migrants.

Johanna del Valle Acosta, traveling with her fiancé and three children from the Falcón state of Venezuela, said she understood Mr. Adams’s mission. “I think he, as mayor, is defending his country,” she said as Mr. Adams headed toward Necoclí, a poor fishing and tourist town that has been transformed by migrants making their way north.

But she asked for compassion. “Suddenly other countries see us as a threat, but we are good people who want to work,” she said. The day’s spectacle included a protest, hastily organized by an activist from New York, in which migrants chanted “Shame on you” at the mayor.

Adams’ trip offended Carlos Gabriel Hernández and his family: “How can you tell someone not to follow their American dream?”

Jhonatan Antony Velásquez Diaz and his wife, with their 6-month-old daughter, traveled from Venezuela to Mexico City. It took 22 days, and someone robbed them at gunpoint on the way there.

The Diaz family won’t stop:

Mr. Velásquez said that friends who had made it to New York “tell me to come, that a lot of them have jobs.”

“That lifts me up and helps me to keep going,” he said.

He said he doubted Mr. Adams’s words would carry much weight. “No matter what, people are going to get there, and I’m not going to be discouraged by what a politician says or a mayor says.”

Henry Aguilar, his wife, three children, and their dog made their way from Venezuela. His friends in New York offered another picture:

“I’ve been here for a little more than a week, and I haven’t been able to find work,” the friend was heard saying. “It’s not as easy as they paint it.”

Mr. Aguilar, 34, a former military bodyguard in Venezuela, had planned to bring his family to New York, but after hearing that there were no places to stay, he set his sights on Texas.

I mean, Adams’ trip is more than what the Biden administration has done. When’s the last time “border Czar” Kamala Harris even had a serious conversation about the border and immigration? I’m not talking Q&A segments.

“How can you tell someone not to follow their American dream?”

How about following the rules and not cutting the line in front of those who do follow the rules?

The colossal Jewel of human ignorance that is the mayor thinks we should have to pay for his open borders.

Sow the wind. Reap the results of 60 years of leftist border and social policy.

Safety tip: Never hire a turnstile cop as your mayor.

As long as New York continues to guarantee food and shelter, they will keep coming. Cut off the incentive, cut off the flow

Well, if you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere… and NY is just doing too damn good of a job to turn them away!

New I LOVE NY Tourism Campaign Highlights Start of 2022 Summer Travel Season

I LOVE NY LGBTQ Participating in Pride Events Throughout State

I LOVE NY, New York State’s Division of Tourism, today announced the launch of a new seasonal tourism campaign, highlighting the start of the 2022 summer travel season. Elements include two new ads, a reimagined I LOVE NY Experience mobile tour, and LGBTQ Pride activities at events throughout the state.

The new campaign includes two new 30-second spots featuring an assortment of iconic attractions and reminds visitors that no matter what type of vacation they’re seeking – from a relaxing beach getaway, to hiking or ziplining in the mountains, to family-friendly activities that create lifelong memories – some of the best experiences in New York State also happen to be some of the best experiences in the world. The new ads can be viewed here and here.

After a two-year pandemic hiatus, I LOVE NY, through its I LOVE NY LGBTQ initiative, will be participating in Pride events in communities across New York this summer. This includes stops in Albany, Buffalo, Fire Island, Harlem, New York City and Rochester to engage with attendees and introduce them to exciting attractions and destinations throughout the state.

Additionally, a newly-updated I LOVE NY LGBTQ microsite and printed I LOVE NY LGBTQ travel guide are available to help visitors identify great things to see and do, both during Pride month and throughout the year. I LOVE NY is also launching an I LOVE NY 2022 Pride guide blog, to support community partners and promote tourism by highlighting Pride celebrations, and other LGBTQ events and attractions across the state.

What self-respecting South American can resist all that? It’s adult Disneyland!

Why would they stop? Free housing, food, cell phones and the incompetent ditz Governor sending them across the state with guanteed jobs.

Of course they’ll keep coming. The streets are paved with gold here, and you don’t even have to work for it.
