House Republicans Drop Jim Jordan as Speaker Nominee, Will Start Over Next Week

Chaos continues.

The House Republicans have dropped Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan as their Speaker nominee.

Jordan has lost three votes, losing more votes in each round. He needed 217 Republicans votes.

Republicans have gone home for the weekend. They’ll likely pick this back up on Monday.

Maybe a vote on Tuesday? Temp Speaker McHenry won’t run for Speaker.

Keep up the cafeteria fight, boys. It’s not like the world’s burning or anything…

The blame lies squarely on those 20-25 holdouts who are all butt hurt over something and can’t get over their 10yr old hissy fit, grow up and do the right thing. Even Goetz came out after supporting Jordan and said he and the other 8 who dumped McCarthy were willing to take suspension, censure or even be thrown out of the Republican Caucus if those people would just vote for Jordan but to no avail.
This is what happens when people who think they are just that important get their little feelings hurt and are going to hold their breath until they turn blue.

It not like the House can do anything but put gasoline on the fire.—–

Another day without the congress not able to waste money we don’t have? Fine with me

Nathan Shiba in reply to Ironclaw. | October 20, 2023 at 3:46 pm

Oh, they’re still spending money, don’t you worry.

    txvet2 in reply to Ironclaw. | October 20, 2023 at 4:41 pm

That’s the fallacy. The Biden Administration is still spreading the cash like they could print more any time they wanted – as a matter of fact, one of the Dem congressmen said as much yesterday during Budget Committee hearings. Got a deficit? Print more money. Seems like he’s never heard of inflation.

Gone home?

Screw these pukes. This is literally your only job. You don’t get to go home until it’s done.

They voted to dumo Jordan?

But the leftists have kept voting for McCarthy. How can they vote to exclude if the guy who got kicked out (who only got elected after 14 rounds of voting) is still getting votes?

Crap like this is why we need to rout the entire rino herd.

Olinser in reply to Azathoth. | October 20, 2023 at 7:20 pm

    Correction.

Just like their other votes, they voted SECRETLY to dump Jordan.

This secret ballot nonsense has to stop.

henrybowman in reply to Azathoth. | October 20, 2023 at 11:19 pm

Right. RINO McCarthy got 86 balloting sessions until he finally won, just like Democrats always do. Why can’t populist Jordan?

John Sullivan | October 20, 2023 at 3:56 pm

Although the process surely must be embarrassing for the GOP, Jordan will be more effective in his committee roles than he ever could be as speaker.

“First as tragedy, then as farce.”

More waste of time and failure theater. Great job.

At this point what does it matter? Pick a figure-head and move on.

My cat is available. He’d do as well as anyone else. First thing he would rule is that everyone take a nap. And that might fix a lot.

The late great paleoconservative Sam Francis first called the Republicans the “stupid party”. At this point Nancy Pelosi should enter the race, and with the support of the RINOs will win. Steve Scalise is my congressman, and we were both educated by the same magnificent Lasallian Christian Brothers in New Orleans. But he lost,. Jordan is an excellent candidate, and he’s out of the race and the Republican caucus descends into chaos and irrelevance. Our literature has many references to the “elephant gun”. Is there a RINO gun?

The RINOs insist on making sure the Dems win. When they embrace the Left more than members of “their” party, then they are a 5th column.

That’s what people were saying when Gaetz’s merry band joined the Dems to vacate the speakership. Funny how the narrative has changed.

Exactly. The only reason we are in this mess today is that “Gaetz’s merry band joined the Dems to vacate the speakership.” This is what happens when the Trump supporters in the House decide to align themselves with the Democrats. So screw Gaetz and his Trump supporters. They are the reason we are going to lose the next election.

Get over it. We’re in this mess because some man-children had a tantrum over Jordan.

jqusnr in reply to JR. | October 20, 2023 at 9:08 pm

Well Kevin made promises he wud to keep
        So screw him

Ironclaw in reply to JR. | October 20, 2023 at 11:41 pm

Then I guess McCarthy shouldn’t have gone behind the conference is back to make a deal with the pedophile in Chief for a continuing resolution that he promised wasn’t going to happen. He deserved to be removed

      Concise in reply to txvet2. | October 20, 2023 at 6:10 pm

They voted against Jordan not Gaetz. In favor of people who weren’t in the race. Pathetic worthless disgraces.

Chip Roy for Speaker of the House!!!

Who needs a speaker? Seems to me, all they do is launder money and commit insider trading.

I’d take Mike Collins. He has actually run a business, trucking, and understands what happens if diesel hits $5 and the government continues to force not only electric trucks down everyone throats but continues the regulatory onslaught. Barring him I’ll take Austin Scott who also actually had a job before Congress

Well the republican leadership has flipped off its base in favor of, well I’m not sure what, seems like a combination of democrat interests and unidentified lobbyists, They have no interest in listening to the voters that put them in power. I discounted this before but might be time to go about founding a new party.

Good. He should be dropped. You don’t get support by having your Trump supporters threaten to kill people who don’t vote for you. Good riddance to Jordan and all of his Trump supporters.

Police report or it didn’t happen.

CommoChief in reply to JR. | October 20, 2023 at 7:14 pm

What time did Jordan make the phone call to tell someone to do that? Maybe he used X or another social media platform? Show the evidence on something that serious or don’t make hysterical claims. Making serious but unsubstantiated claims without regard to consequences is what unhinged leftists do. See Jussie Smollett or BLM or corporate media lying about Gaza Hospital or Pee tapes or Russia collision.

      thad_the_man in reply to CommoChief. | October 20, 2023 at 7:37 pm

The only clear attempted assaults were: an attempted assault on Gaetz during the McCarthy election, and an on Gaetz in a closed session.

Paddy M in reply to JR. | October 20, 2023 at 8:39 pm

    You’re such a cuck, JR.

Concise in reply to JR. | October 20, 2023 at 8:43 pm

And President Trump will have the MSNBC staff executed for treason. I keep thinking the idiotic democrat lies can’t get more idiotic but the pool of stupid is apparently bottomless.

No. The Dems joined Gaetz because after McCarthy bent to the Dems then tried to take all the credit for it.

    diver64 in reply to thad_the_man. | October 21, 2023 at 6:02 am

Yeah, McCarthy made a promise to Goetz who then voted him into Speaker. McCarthy not only broke the promise and we can argue whether or not he had a choice with the slim majority, but went to the Dems to pass a CR. Goetz held true to his promise of what he would do. Goetz then supported Jordan. Not his fault there are 20 other Professionaly Republicans that are stamping their feet. Where is the furious “this is the end of Democracy” crowd who attacked Goetz endlessly?

      txvet2 in reply to diver64. | October 21, 2023 at 6:01 pm

“”McCarthy made a promise to Goetz who then voted him into Speaker.””

I don’t think so. IIRC, Gaetz never voted for McCarthy, even after the deals were all made and everybody else had fallen in line. I don’t remember if he was a “no” or if he abstained.

        CommoChief in reply to txvet2. | October 22, 2023 at 9:19 am

Gaetz and five other members voted ‘present’ which had the effect under the rules of lowering the total vote count McCarthy needed. Thus they facilitated McCarthy’s selection to become Speaker by not only dropping their direct opposition but by assisting his candidacy. Not a full throated YES for sure but in context their actions assisted his ascension to Speaker.

But the Omnibus bill must be passed!

ah yes Kevin also promised
no more Omnibus bills …
regular order …. ha …

At least when so many Japanese civilians jumped off cliffs in Okinawa, they were facing certain defeat.

Jim Jordan is like Joe Paterno. He’s a coach who looked the other way while his student athletes were being sexually abused by his staff. Good riddance.
