White House Tells Media Outlets to ‘Ramp Up Their Scrutiny’ of House GOP’s Biden Impeachment Inquiry

White House Tells Media Outlets to ‘Ramp Up Their Scrutiny’ of House GOP’s Biden Impeachment Inquiry

“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.”

Holy crap. The White House sent letters to major outlets, demanding their reporters go after the House GOP over its impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Can you imagine the outrage if President Donald Trump’s White House sent a letter to the media demanding the same actions?

Oliver Darcy at CNN did not provide a copy of the letter:

“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, wrote in the letter, which was first obtained by CNN.

The letter, which said an impeachment inquiry with no supporting evidence should “set off alarm bells for news organizations,” was sent to executives helming the nation’s largest news organizations, including CNN, The New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News, and others, a White House official familiar with the matter said.

This is crazy:

In its letter Wednesday, the White House asked news organizations to be more clear-eyed in their coverage of the impeachment inquiry, and not to fall prey to the traps of false equivalency in reporting.

“Covering impeachment as a process story – Republicans say X, but the White House says Y – is a disservice to the American public who relies on the independent press to hold those in power accountable,” Sams wrote.

“And in the modern media environment, where every day liars and hucksters peddle disinformation and lies everywhere from Facebook to Fox, process stories that fail to unpack the illegitimacy of the claims on which House Republicans are basing all their actions only serve to generate confusion, put false premises in people’s feeds, and obscure the truth,” Sams added.

The Democrats never hide their attempts to persuade the press. Not that they need to since 99% of the major outlets have leftist leaning.

In 2009, President Barack Obama’s White House shut out Fox News from the five White House pool networks.

Thankfully, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and NBC fought back against the White House. The administration said Fox News “is not a news organization.”

CNN doesn’t deserve props for reporting on the letter, though.

I think the impeachment inquiry might backfire on the GOP. It provides the Democrats and their liberal media buddies with an out.

Biden’s favorite Washington Post reporter said Biden is too old. The media has started reporting that Biden lied about knowing about Hunter’s business dealings.

The letter gives the left more ammunition to push out Biden and prop up someone even worse than him.

I’m not saying the impeachment inquiry isn’t legit. Just…be careful.

“Covering impeachment as a process story – Republicans say X, but the White House says Y – is” reserved for Democrats, is what he meant.

the battle for control of future events is on

the dims never had any idea of running Joe, just wanted him to hold on until late spring , after the primaries so they could control the nominee selection process

but now that has been put in jeopardy with the inquiry

Joe could be forced out by the end of the year which would throw open the nomination

He won’t be forced out of anything. If Democrats couldn’t get Trump removed in spite of totally controlling the narrative and the media operation around their impeachment then there is absolutely no chance in hell of the Republicans doing anything other than finding him in contempt by the house (or what ever they call it) and then the Senate voting along party lines.

End result is sweet fuck all will happen to 10% China Joe.

I’d rather see the republic ending lawfare and other Biden administration policies defunded than a dead-ended impeachment inquiry.

Here’s one reason for an impeachment inquiry.

      Concise in reply to txvet2. | September 13, 2023 at 9:39 pm

There’s unquestionably a basis to impeach and convict this fraud. But this present inquiry into the possibility of an impeachment is nowhere near a substitute for defunding the Biden administration lawfare and other aspects of their twisted agenda.

They seem unable to learn. Missouri and Louisiana obtain an injunction preventing various federal agencies from strong-arming social media platforms. White House gets temporary restraining order (TRO) blocking the injunction. Judge revokes most of the TRO, continuing the blocking of the strong arm.

So what does the WH do? It tells the media—the ultimate social network—what to do.

I’m guessing that WH counsel comes from such bastions of free speech and thought as Yale and Stanford law schools.

Milhouse in reply to Concise. | September 14, 2023 at 2:34 am

The purpose of an impeachment inquiry isn’t to actually impeach him, because we already know that is guaranteed to lead to a senate acquittal. The purpose is to marshal all the evidence and put it before the public. Expose him as the crook he is. And preserve as much evidence as possible for the next administration to have a go at prosecuting him.

Ghostrider in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 5:31 am

      Good comment. Well done.

Concise in reply to Ghostrider. | September 14, 2023 at 2:23 pm

Uh huh. OK, but my point was that defunding the republic ending lawfare and other Biden policies are somewhat more important priorities than adding to the already voluminous public record of Biden’s corruption. For McCarthy, this inquiry is all you get. But maybe you support fully funding Jack Smith? And prosecution? What? Before or after he pardons himself? And by whom? The same corrupt DOJ whose lawfare is being fully funded in exchange for an inquiry that can only pile onto the truckload of evidence of the Biden crime family corruption?

mailman in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 5:39 am

You must be new around here 😜😂

amwick in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 6:27 am

Thu uniparty wants him expelled. The impeachment inquiry is just one tool that they are using. Nothing happens independently in DC.. Nothing. The timing is just too convenient. All this Biden grift was well known, all of it..Millhouse is right, but you have to ask why now?

Concise in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 8:19 am

So you’re ok in continuing to fund the Biden administration’s lawfare and other questionable policies? Let’s give Jack Smith all he needs and more. And by the way, there is already a mountain of evidence demonstrating Biden’s corruption and physical infirmity. Democrats will ultimately replace him with another candidate for 2024 anyway. This may even given them a convenient excuse at a politically opportune time, My sense is that McCarthy is offering this as a distraction and he will now proceed to fully fund Jack and everything else Biden. Defunding is more important, in my view, if one is really opposed to the republic ending lawfare.

Milhouse in reply to Concise. | September 14, 2023 at 7:31 pm

And by the way, there is already a mountain of evidence demonstrating Biden’s corruption

It’s all circumstantial and suggestive, and not the sort of case you ideally want to put before a criminal jury. There’s a ton of smoke, but the actual flames have not yet been sighted; we know they’re in there somewhere but we haven’t found them yet. Hence the need for an official investigation, with subpoena power, to find those flames and take photos of them.

Concise in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 9:20 pm

I’d really like to see you respond to my main points on defunding the lawfare and other aspects of the Biden agenda that you seem to be conspicuously avoiding.

coyote in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 9:09 am

The only people who want Harris to succeed Joe live in Harris’ house.

Ironclaw in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 10:29 am

That’s why I keep calling for extreme transparency. Make sure that EVERYTHING is made public, nothing is kept secret.

henrybowman in reply to Milhouse. | September 14, 2023 at 1:29 pm

Plus, if a future administration does ever get to act on the evidence, it fairly besmirches the reputation of all the Senate Democrats who swept it under the rug.

Be careful what you wish for…

Any sober examination of the evidence that Comer has compiled can lead to only one conclusion. There may be a Woodward and Bernstein out there drooling over a Pulitzer.

Impeachment and removal from office would be one thing, but actual prison time would be better. I realize that neither is likely, but I hope he gets stuck with a 350-pound cellmate who likes to have his hair sniffed.

There is probably a lot more evidence for a criminal conviction of 10% China Joe (in that things he did were actually illegal) than there ever was for Trump.

Ironclaw in reply to mailman. | September 14, 2023 at 10:31 am

That is doubtless, they searched for 5 or 7 years straight and then eventually had to come up with the crap they’re throwing at him now.

The Administration of crime boss and dotard-marionette, Biden, isn’t even worried about appearances in openly giving marching orders and talking points to their dutifully loyal media lapdogs/trained seals/shills/propagandists. At least in the old days, the Dumb-o-crats would engage in a pretense of treating the media as ostensibly independent. They’ve dropped that charade, now.

Scrutinize all you like. The difference here is that there is actual evidence and actual witnesses. Bring it on. Let the sunshine in.

I find it entertaining. I would rather watch an impeachment than a Hollywood move.

Maybe that sets the bar too low.

I don’t think the Republicans have any intention of impeaching Biden nor should they

just take your time and skin him alive

the dims will do the rest

Did a court not just get finished telling him to stop muscling the press?
Telling the press what to print is no more acceptable than telling them what not to print.

What’s the big deal? Each time when Trump was impeached, the Biden White House sent out similar letters to the press. I have them right here…uh…hmmm. Can’t seem to find them. But I’m sure the White House would not try to cover up crimes by the president. No, for sure, that would never happen.

“This is Joe Biden, and I approved this message.”

“Covering impeachment as a process story – Republicans say X, but the White House says Y – is a disservice to the American public”

Huh? Funny, I thought that is exactly what they were supposed to do. Silly Me!

    Milhouse in reply to Gremlin1974. | September 14, 2023 at 2:38 am

No. What they’re supposed to do is report what is actually happening, not what the parties are saying about it. But what’s actually happening is that the evidence for Biden’s corruption is finally emerging.

The answer is Extreme transparency. Keep nothing Secret make sure to let sunlight on absolutely every finding.

Proving the media is the Democrats Propaganda Ministry

If you don’t impeached now for the bribery of foreign governments and the enrichment of the Biden Crime Family when and for what do you ever?
The charges have to be brought forward

Joe Biden often says we need to restore norms and respect the Rule of Law. He also says he’s done absolutely nothing wrong.

Ok Joe, here’s your chance. Cooperate fully with Comer and your innocence will be clear to all in plain view.

While you’re at it, how about authorizing a bipartisan Blue Ribbon commission to audit the 2020 election to end disinformation by confirming that it was as fair you say it was and you legitimately got 81 million votes as you claim?

And maybe match every states’ voter registration rolls against the Social Security death list and other Federal databases to confirm that they are as accurate as you say they are.

It’s not like Joe Biden, KJP, and the WH spin masters should have anything to fear from full transparency if he has done nothing wrong.

Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, wrote in the letter, which was first obtained by CNN.

The White House did not send that letter to the media… the White House’s LAWYERS sent sent it — not the press office, who is charged to deal with the media..

You guys are the lawyers, so what’s the difference between a demand letter sent to the media by lawyers instead of the public relations office?

Connivin Caniff | September 14, 2023 at 9:00 am

It is clear that the GOP should immediately put up a clear, comprehensive website showing all the current evidence against Biden, and keep that website constantly updated – and advertised.

Suburban Farm Guy | September 14, 2023 at 9:13 am

Straight-up Fascism. Tight partnership of government and corporations working hand in glove to break the law and break the people

Any reputable media company (are there any left?) would print out the directive from the White House, urinate on it and mail it back registered mail.

henrybowman in reply to MAJack. | September 14, 2023 at 1:32 pm

Too easy for evil Democrats. Mailing noxious items equals federal crime equals DC Gulag.
On the other hand, it’s perfectly legal to mail live bees.

“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on [Joe Biden’s] lies.”

‘Ramp Up Their Scrutiny’ of House GOP’s Biden Impeachment Inquiry

How about they do ANY due diligence, much less scrutiny, on the potential reasons for a Biden Impeachment?

Sorry, I just woke up from a 50 year coma – from a time where the press would have absolutely crucified Biden by now, party or not.

Milhouse in reply to Gosport. | September 14, 2023 at 7:39 pm

Nope. Do you honestly think if Nixon had been a Democrat he would have been in any danger of impeachment?! JFK and LBJ both got away with worse than anything Nixon ever did, because they were Democrats.

Milhouse in reply to Gosport. | September 14, 2023 at 7:39 pm

Remember that the news industry was calling for Nixon’s impeachment from the day he was elected.
