McCarthy Allows House Republicans to Open Formal Impeachment Inquiry Into Biden

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings.”

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced that House Republicans can move forward with a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

The lawmakers will concentrate on the Biden family business, especially anything spawned by Hunter, along with the special treatment given to the family:

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons and his son’s business partners,” McCarthy said.

“We know that bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various Shell companies. The Treasury Department alone has more than 150 transactions involving the Biden family. Another business associates that were flagged as suspicious activity by U.S. banks. Even a trusted FBI informant has alleged a bribe to the Biden family. Biden used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partners about Hunter’s role in Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company,” he continued.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer will lead the inquiry with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.

More from McCarthy:

McCARTHY: “Finally, despite these serious allegations, it appears that the president’s family has been offered special treatment by Biden’s own administration; treatment that not otherwise would have received if they were not related to the president. These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption, and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. That’s why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. It’s exactly what we want to know, the answers. I believe the president would want to answer these questions and allegations as well. This effort will be led by Chairman James Comer at the Committee on Oversight, in coordination with Chairman Jim Jordan for Judiciary Committee and Chairman Jason Smith on Ways and Means. Now, I do not make this decision lightly. Regardless of your party or who you voted for, these facts should concern all Americans. The American people deserve to know that the public offices are not for sale and that the federal government is not being used to cover up the actions of a politically associated family. Now, I would encourage the president and his team to fully cooperate with this investigation in the interest of transparency. We are committed to getting the answers for the American public, nothing more, nothing less. We will go wherever the evidence takes us. Thank you.”

I have a better idea. How about we just impeach the entire government? Kick them all out. Every single one of them. But MAH ROADZZZZ!

And, they won’t have to make up things.

McCarthy always said he was going to wait till Comer presented him with the findings of his and Jordan’s investigations before opening the enquiry and then did just that.
Not sure what else people want out of him. I was very skeptical of that guy and supported the Freedom Caucus in making him work for Speaker but so far he is coming through.
Maybe people got spoiled with Pelosi running roughshod over our Constitution for politics and thought everyone should do it.
Follow our laws, our Constitution but drop like a hammer when needed

2 years too late in my book.

Dems have sullied the process. It just looks like theater because they will recognize that their own prior proceedings were such.

It will only look like theater because the Biden corruption is so stunning that the reality is hard to accept. But the real victory would to defund the special counsel’s crusade to destroy the legal foundations of this republic.

Lucifer Morningstar | September 12, 2023 at 1:27 pm

Whatever. It’s all just political theater now that the 2024 presidential election looms closer & closer and republicans realize they’ve got a real problem if Trump is anointed nominated candidate and they’ve to to seem as if they’re doing something.

So don’t expect anything much to actually happen. We’ll get all the talk, talk, talk from he usual republican talking heads but in the end no action will actually occur. Biden won’t be impeached. Nobody in the Biden crime family will be indicted for their criminal acts and actions. Nobody ever holds democrats responsible. democrats will just laugh it off and that will be the end of it. Disgusting but true.

As long as they’re sufficiently public with their findings then it won’t matter too much if they actually ever vote to impeach. Try it in the court of public opinion and spin every last bit of it in the worst light. Crucify the corrupt pedophile.

Mauiobserver in reply to Ironclaw. | September 12, 2023 at 2:36 pm

Correct. The Democrat party (ie all of Fed government and the media) planned to sideline Trump and the main street America with their Lawfare campaign.

Trump probably won’t have much campaign time or cash but he will be in the headlines every day and the press will cover his rebuttals to the Democrat persecutions.

With the impeachment the GOP can highlight the absurd double standard where Democrat leaders including President Biden openly accepted bribes to advance the interests of American economic and military opponents at the expense of American citizens.

The American people will be treated to shining examples of how the Obama and Biden have turned the American Justice system from the principal of equal justice under the law to the Democrat standard clearly stated by Obama to reward our friends and punish our enemies.

healthguyfsu in reply to Ironclaw. | September 12, 2023 at 2:37 pm

To spin in the worst light you need a complacent and corrupt media. Only the left has that in spades.

inspectorudy in reply to Ironclaw. | September 12, 2023 at 3:34 pm

There are only two TV channels that even cover Hunter Biden’s misdeeds and the public will never hear the truth that is discovered. That is one reason that the elections went so badly for us is the lack of knowledge by the public. If there are major discoveries the networks will do all in their power to make it sound ordinary and of no concern. My hope is that the Rs don’t jump into this without clear unmistakable evidence and end up looking like Pelosi and the Trump impeachments.

If they impeach Biden after the ballots are printed with Biden’s name on them, and it’s too late for states to re-print, then it could have a good effect on the election. I don’t want to take a risk that Biden’s removed, Harris is elevated, and ballots are printed with her name on them.

IDK about elsewhere, but the “ballots” here are computer software (as of the last election – the specific equipment and software seem to change every election). They can be changed overnight.

      diver64 in reply to artichoke. | September 12, 2023 at 6:20 pm

If he were impeached when that happened I’m not sure but I think he would be sworn in, immediately be removed and the VP sworn in then Kamala would pick a new VP like, IDK…Breckboy from Cali?

hell just froze over

Comer, Jordan and Smith are not fooling around. They will expose the evidence. Many will blow it off, even here, but the American people will be tuned in, as they increasingly are, to the corruption of Biden and his henchmen. This will hurt Democrats and require Biden to play defense. Good move, finally!

Wishful thinking. No one cares any more about politics. They just show up and vote tribe.

Speaking for everyone and what they care about does not mean everyone agrees. Aren’t you into politics? What tribe are Independents in?

Most registered “independent” voters are brainwashed Democrats wanting to appear un-brainwashed to their peers. I have several in my own extended family alone.

Who are the “independents” in Congress? How do they vote? QED.

Independents are just Democrats. Okay. But Marist says that Trump has an 8 point lead among them.

The idea of impeachement is more for the people than for Congress.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to henrybowman. | September 12, 2023 at 4:28 pm

Most, but not ALL. Tennessee does not register by party. When I lived in states that did, I chose Independent or Declines to State because NEITHER of the approved parties represent me, and the other parties are mostly parodies.

It would appear from the “discussions” here, that at least a significant minority of Trump support comes from long-time independents.

Grizz: Likewise, Texas. You can join a party if you so choose, and many do, but it isn’t necessary to join to vote in the primaries. You are just restricted to voting in one.

Miss that latest poll where 20% of blacks supported Trump?
If that holds, Dems have no chance

        healthguyfsu in reply to diver64. | September 13, 2023 at 12:05 am

I don’t poll shop but “if it holds” is the key phrase. I’ve been fooled by reported movements of plantation independence before…it never seems to materialize.

Black women definitely don’t support Trump. Oprah and the view have them all convinced that he’s a racist.

robertthomason in reply to healthguyfsu. | September 13, 2023 at 11:15 pm

The polling shows Trump is making significant gains amongst black men and as you indicated black women is one of the strongest anti-Trump groups.

But then what do they do? If they stop short of an impeachment vote, that evidence will be said to be inadequate. Same if they take an impeachment vote and it fails.

If they vote and Biden is impeached, that is very risky. The Senate Dems could flip and remove him, getting Kamala Harris as the incumbent going into 2024. A black woman, not too old, not as scandal-plagued and elderly as Biden, could be tougher to beat. She could never be elected on her own, she’s a joke, but she could be re-elected as the steady hand at the helm (she would be given words to say), the incumbent. I don’t want Harris as the incumbent in Nov. 2024, but Biden.

True, the future is unknown. However, Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis said over a century ago: “Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.”

Hold the hearings. Let the chips fall where they may. No one knew about Alexander Butterfield, until it happened. In other words, go forward and expect the unexpected.

Transparency is a hallmark of a strong civil society. It is the way to expose the corruption. Harris, Obama’s puppet and corrupt Biden’s choice, is no slam dunk for Democrats, especially as Democratic malfeasance and coverup comes to the fore.

If America is to be saved, the dirty laundry must be washed. The alternative seems to be what now devolves, a police state.

Impeachment may be a political action, and the Trump impeachments were obviously done for political purposes, but the case against Biden is solid and should be undertaken without regard to the political consequences. As Giuliani mentioned this weekend, it isn’t that they need to develop more evidence, the problem is paring what they have down to make a manageable case.

“the American people will be tuned in”.
Where? Only FNC and NewsMax cover any of the Biden crime family crimes. The msm will not cover it or if they do, it will be a whitewashed version of the truth.

The GOP will hold a hearing and blather on and NOTHING will come of it. Every time.

artichoke in reply to geronl. | September 12, 2023 at 3:22 pm

Well they don’t have arrest powers. As I say above, I want it to go just as you say. I think impeaching would be a mistake, because if Biden is removed, Harris becomes the incumbent in 2024.

inspectorudy in reply to artichoke. | September 12, 2023 at 3:39 pm

I believe that they will work out a schedule to make the election and the final vote on impeachment at the same time. Even the Dems do not want that idiot in office.

      diver64 in reply to artichoke. | September 12, 2023 at 6:24 pm

      IDK about that
Harris is even less popular than Hillary. Heels Up Harris is in the Doom Loop of politics. The more she talks, the less people like her and if your running for President you have to open your mouth

Agreed. Everyone here wants to impeach Biden, but not a single person, other than you, realizes that this means that Harris becomes president.

“but not a single person, other than you, realizes that this means that Harris becomes president.”

        Speak for yourself!

More likely than not, she will be no more in control than Biden. Sometimes, you have to do what’s right, Silly notion.

How much do you want to bet that all the decisions that forced Trump to provide documents to the house during their impeachment inquiries, will all of a sudden not apply to Xiden and have to be re litigated.?

“Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced that House Republicans can move forward”
After carefully making sure that “forward” is properly barricaded further on down the road.

Remember this is a criminal investigation into an elderly man with dementia and serious health issues, who has the entire DOJ and DNC (but I repeat myself) behind him. At any point in time during the investigation, he can have ‘a medical incident’ and step down for intensive private medical treatment while his parrots in the press start in the chorus of “Evil Republicans hounded the poor man into the hospital. Let’s show them we support him against this unfair investigation! Go vote Democrat! Do it for Joe!”

    Probably early October, 2024.

You know better. Conviction is always going to be a non-starter, even as it was with Trump. That doesn’t mean that you don’t go to trial. And blaming McCarthy is foolish. He has no more control over the Senate than Trump does. The people in charge of this are all solid. Let them do their job and let the Senate fall on their swords for Biden.

Gowdy, all over again.

“I have a better idea. How about we just impeach the entire government? Kick them all out. Every single one of them. But MAH ROADZZZZ!”

I would like to use the RICO statute as our government has become a Corrupt Organization or send them to Guantanamo as domestic terrorists.

Attempting to impeach Biden at this point is merely a circus for entertaining the low-info mouth breathers among us.

Want to do some impeaching that WILL have a positive effect? Start with the AG and the DC federal judges who are making a mockery of our legal system.

Here is an analysis at the Fedealist this morning. I have extracted what I think is most pertinent.I suggest all read it in ful
H:ouse Republicans are bringing a butter knife to a gunfight as Democrats, including their media and government lapdogs, conduct an unprecedented lawfare campaign to destroy President Trump.

Now is the time to be worried about underreacting, not overreacting. Democrats are using every lever of power they have. Republicans should do the same. The House Judiciary Committee should subpoena documents and communications from the Biden White House, Biden Justice Department, and each of these Democrat prosecutors’ offices immediately. Every day the GOP waits, it loses ground.

House Judiciary Republicans should start their investigations with officials at Biden’s DOJ — namely Garland, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, FBI Director Christopher Wray, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and Smith’s counselor Jay Bratt. The timing of these indictments — after waiting 30 months after Trump left office — is not random. They are choreographed.

The subpoenas can’t be isolated to just the Biden Justice Department. House Judiciary Republicans should obtain each and every piece of correspondence related to Trump from New York Attorney General Letitia James, Bragg, his lead prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, and Willis. This lawfare campaign is so extensive that those names should only be the start — there will surely be more to uncover.

Once each document is with the House Judiciary Committee, it’ll be time to ramp up the oversight. Jordan should put Biden White House and Justice Department officials under oath. Constant staff depositions. Regular public hearings. The entire country should have the opportunity to put on the news and see House Republicans expose Democrats’ corrupt lawfare campaign for what it really is: an anti-democratic and republic-ending electoral assault on Trump.

Democrats aren’t just conducting this lawfare campaign because they hate Trump and will do anything to ensure he won’t win in 2024. They’re doing this because Biden is weak, dementia-ridden, and corrupt. Democrats won’t let Trump wipe the floor with him. It’ll be Democrats in the justice system joining up with Biden to take out Trump in 2024.

Where else is there an opportunity for House Republicans to aggressively attack the Democrats’ lawfare campaign? The appropriations process. The House Appropriations Committee should include two specific appropriations riders. First, it should cut off the spigot of money used to interfere in the presidential election: “No federal funds may be used to prosecute any major presidential candidate on or before Nov. 5, 2024.”

Second, it should ensure that any state or local government that chooses to use its office as a political weapon is punished: “Any state or local jurisdiction that prosecutes any major presidential candidate on or before Nov. 5, 2024, loses all federal funding.”

These basic steps will help ensure this election is free from the type of government interference and manipulation that are the hallmarks of third-world banana republics. House Republicans should act — and act now. The D.C. swamp is the only place on the planet where the reptiles lack backbones. Let’s see if House Republicans can find theirs.

If GOP lawmakers don’t jump into the deep end, the Democrat lawfare campaign may succeed in taking out Trump. That will be the beginning of the end of our republic.

So when do we see the connections – money trail, meetings, phone calls, emails and texts – connecting Vindman to Biden and Schiff? There is no way Vindman wasn’t acting as an agent for the Bidens because the attack on Trump and the phone call is beyond coincidental. They were watching for it and knew they had to shut Trump down.
