LIVE: House Oversight Committee Holds First Biden Impeachment Hearing

“Today, the House Oversight Committee will examine over two dozen pieces of evidence revealing Joe Biden’s corruption and abuse of public office. This includes e-mails, text messages, bank records, and testimony of Biden business associates.”

The House Oversight Committee is presenting evidence against President Joe Biden in the first impeachment hearing.

The meeting started at 10 AM ET. Sorry for the delay, but my cat Queen Artemis refused to let me work.

Witnesses:

  • Mr. Bruce Dubinsky, Founder, Dubinsky Consulting (Testimony here)
  • Ms. Eileen O’Connor, Former Assistant Attorney General, United States Department of Justice (DOJ-Tax) (Testimony here)
  • Professor Jonathan Turley, Shapiro Chair for Public Interest Law, George Washington University Law School (Testimony here)
  • Mr. Michael J. Gerhardt, Burton Craige Distinguished Professor of Jurisprudence, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Minority witness; testimony here)

HEARING COVERAGE

I’ll update as I can or as much as Queen Artemis allows me.

Jonathan Turley, who has always been honest and non-partisan, says the Republicans met the threshold for an inquiry, but articles of impeachment.

John Fetterman is a child.

AOC is so mad, you guys.

Good. Shut down the government. When we see how many people it affects then we know why we need to slash around 90% of it.

Comments

In many ways, this is a Quixotic endeavor. Biden is never going to be removed irrespective of the strength of the evidence. Picking Kamala Harris as VP was genius in that regard.

But, it would be nice if House investigators could uncover some forensic money trail that leads directly to Joe or Jill. But, I suspect even crackhead Hunter and Dementia Joe weren’t stupid enough to put any of the money in an account that could be tied to Joe Biden, directly. In some ways, it’s an elegant, almost perfect crime; I’ll do something for you in exchange for gigantic sums of money being deposited into accounts controlled by my family. How would the government make this case against a normal person? I’m sure people have tried this before and have been caught and prosecuted. So, there must be some way, right?

Turley just explained why a direct link is not necessary and the courts have rejected that it is and the GOP doesn’t intend to impeach Biden, just damage him

    Nixon was never impeached

the GOP will just skin Joe alive and let the dims finish him off

the reason the dims are putting up such a fight is they are gonna get rid of Joe AFTER the primaries so not to have a big messy primary battle like the GOP is having now

where things like “defund the police” and reparations might be discussed

Treguard in reply to REDACTED. | September 28, 2023 at 11:57 am

Nixon resigned before he could have been impeached, which was an ironclad certainty.

This is an attempt to convict Mr. Biden in the court of Public Opinion. Normally this would irritate me, but there’s no way the Democrats actually look at the evidence.

TargaGTS in reply to REDACTED. | September 28, 2023 at 12:04 pm

That’s probably all correct. BUT, if GOP investigators could demonstrate irrefutable evidence that Joe Biden was engaged in the alleged criminal activity – which would be the greatest example of federal corruption in the history of the Republic, if proven true – that would go a LONG way in undermining Obama’s absurd claims that there was never a ‘hint of corruption’ during his tenure. Not only was their corruption, but there was corruption literally in his next door office. A potential Michelle Obama 11th hour candidacy would become more complicated.

With respect to Turley, even he cedes that there currently isn’t enough evidence to file Articles of Impeachment at the moment. His contention is that there is ample evidence to support an Impeachment inquiry. He’s certainly correct on the latter and perhaps correct on the former. Although, I believe there is compelling evidence to Impeach Biden on the border failure alone.

what’s that thing about Rome being built ??

I recall my high school Latin classes and a History of Greek mythology course I took in college (a classic GPA builder).

Comer reminds me of a modern day Hercules assigned to clean out the Augean Stables, which he did do by blasting a hole in the stable’s walls and diverting two rivers to flow through the stables and clear out the dung.

Hoe close is the Potomac River to the Capitol Building?

There are multiple fronts in which a credible impeachment proceeding could be conducted. His corruption, the border, Afghanistan to list just a few.

You’re just making stuff up. Why would they get rid of a lead candidate after a primary. No, they are all too happy with running things behind an empty old suit who can take the blame for their stupidity.

“Why would they get rid of a lead candidate after a primary.”
        Because THEY want to pick.
In 2020, they held a bunch of primaries, then ignored them all and “chose” Biden. It felt so good, they want to do it that way from now on.

A direct payment , like paying your dad rent to live in his house. Not many parents are going to charge their drug addicted kid monthly rent except to launder funds.

I might be wrong but I think Hunter was paying Joe 40K a month

      TargaGTS in reply to buck61. | September 28, 2023 at 2:02 pm

That would be great, compelling evidence…if it only existed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. You’ll notice that none of the GOP Reps brought that ‘rent’ payment up this morning. Andrew Kerr of The Free Beacon has a lengthy article on the subject of the $49,910 ‘rent’ payment. That disclosure – which itself was a rental application – was actually referencing the rent of a DC office space called ‘House of Sweden’ located on K Street.

      https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/our-familys-sick-why-hunter-biden-lied-about-paying-50k-rent/

But sure, if House investigators could find something like that, it would be damning evidence.

CommoChief in reply to TargaGTS. | September 28, 2023 at 8:13 pm

There’s plenty of actual evidence about Biden Family shenanigans. Unfortunately sometimes the ‘Story’ is so juicy/compelling that folks WANT it to be true even when it isn’t.

Democrats sound like the Republicans at the start of the Nixon inquiry. Difference is, no matter what ultimately is presented, they will not flip. They want to impeach you know who again.

Lucifer Morningstar | September 28, 2023 at 1:11 pm

Whatever. It’s all just more political theater and talk, talk, talk, and more talk from the republicans. But when it comes down to actually doing something (ie. impeaching Joe Biden) nothing will happen. All the hoopla and looks at me from republicans will just fade away into the sunset and that will be it for the republican “impeachment inquiry”. They don’t have the balls to do anything else. And democrats know that very well.

So if republicans have got enough hard evidence already then they need to immediately file articles of impeachment and get it over with. Until then I really don’t want to hear about it.

Also, would it be too hard for the people that run this website and insist on putting 2, 3, 4, or more X (formerly Twitter) embeds in the post work it out so that comment posters don’t have to deal with the dancing website page as X (formerly Twitter) embeds slowly download one by one and render on the page after submitting a comment causing the page to jump up and down continuously until all the X (formerly Twitter) embeds are rendered on the page? That behavior is very annoying and irritating seeing as how it does it at the initial rendering of the page and then after every comment is submitted. thanks

And again, is there any real reason you have to link to these kind of garbage tracking URLs:

when linking to the transcripts and not simply linking to

and omitting all that redirect tracking information?

From what I gather rs6.net is used by a marketing company to track clicks on email newsletter links and such. Which is why it is blocked in my HOSTS file.
