Hoax? Churches in Canada Burned Over Claims of Indian Mass Graves at ‘Residential Schools’ but Searches Have Found No Remains

“I don’t like to use the word hoax because it’s too strong but there are also too many falsehoods circulating about this issue with no evidence”

Two years ago, stories in Canada surfaced about supposed mass graves on the grounds of a Catholic school in British Columbia that closed in the 1970s and at other locations.

The liberal media and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau embraced the stories without evidence.

This is a 2021 report from the BBC:

Canada mourns as remains of 215 children found at indigenous school

Unmarked graves containing the remains of 215 children have been found in Canada at a former residential school set up to assimilate indigenous people.

The children were students at the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia that closed in 1978.

The discovery was announced on Thursday by the chief of the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it was a “painful reminder” of a “shameful chapter of our country’s history”.

The First Nation is working with museum specialists and the coroner’s office to establish the causes and timings of the deaths, which are not currently known.

Rosanne Casimir, the chief of the community in British Columbia’s city of Kamloops, said the preliminary finding represented an unthinkable loss that was never documented by the school’s administrators.

Outrage over this story led to the targeting of Catholic churches.

Pope Francis even apologized for the church over this.

There’s just one problem. No remains have been found.

The New York Post reports:

No human remains found 2 years after claims of ‘mass graves’ in Canada

After two years of horror stories about the alleged mass graves of Indigenous children at residential schools across Canada, a series of recent excavations at suspected sites has turned up no human remains.

Some academics and politicians say it’s further evidence that the stories are unproven.

Minegoziibe Anishinabe, a group of indigenous people also known as Pine Creek First Nation, excavated 14 sites in the basement of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church near the Pine Creek Residential School in Manitoba during four weeks this summer.

The so-called “anomalies” were first detected using ground-penetrating radar, but on Aug. 18, Chief Derek Nepinak of remote Pine Creek Indian Reserve said no remains were found.

He also referred to the effort as the “initial excavation,” leading some who were skeptical of the original claims to think even more are planned.

“I don’t like to use the word hoax because it’s too strong but there are also too many falsehoods circulating about this issue with no evidence,” Jacques Rouillard, a professor emeritus in the Department of History at the Université de Montréal, told The Post Wednesday.

I can’t help but think of all the times that college campuses have been thrown into an uproar over graffiti or even just a rumor that turned out to be a hoax.

In many of those cases, lives were destroyed before anything was even verified.

Will anyone be held accountable in this case? I doubt it.

But..but..it HAS to be TRUE!!!! All those anomalies were placed there by those crafty Catholics to hide what they were doing./s The perpetually indignant indigent population will never to satisfied and will be encouraged to not be by JCT… Justin Castro-Trudeau.

I already knew no evidence had been found of foul play, but I assumed there were actual graves. Of children who had in all likelihood died of natural causes, but graves nonetheless. But not even any graves?! And yet the professor quoted won’t call it a hoax?

    Yup.
Another “conspiracy theory” that has now been proven correct, after years of “we told you so” vs. “shut up, shut up, you racist hater.”

“I assumed there were actual graves.”
Nope, just bumps on somebody’s deep-radar readouts.
    Proof conclusive of Global Thickening.
Time to ban the easy availability of soil compactors.

And yet the professor quoted won’t call it a hoax?

Of course the Professor won’t out and out call it a hoax. Why? 54 Catholic churches burned or vandalized is why. The Professor most likely knows if he calls any of this a “hoax” he’ll be next in line for special treatment by the First Nations and their allies. So he won’t do it. And I don’t blame him. Who needs to take on that kind of bullshite. Better to remain silent than put yourself right in the cross hairs of any kook that’s for sure.

“…an unthinkable loss that was never documented by the school’s administrators…”

Those crafty administrators! You can never trust them. Just because it never happened is no excuse for failing to document it

It is possible that there were graves at one point but the bodies may have been exhumed and relocated.
It happens every time a federal highway gets built, so it isn’t uncommon but is still no excuse for arson.

This presumes that the children were buried without ceremony, comment or any record made, and then dug up without ceremony, comment, or any record made, and then reburied elsewhere without ceremony, comment, or any record made.

That’s a lot of sneaking around, and seems -rather unlikely- for a couple of generations of Catholic Priests.

    Please…

They’re not allowed to search. It would be an Indian burial site if they found it.

“Outrage over this story led to the targeting of Catholic churches”
Mission accomplished….

We have a few falsehoods circulating with no evidence in this country too. The Russian collusion falsehood got in a lot of circulating. Among some biased nutcases it still does. I suspect this lie attacking the Church won’t go away either.

Grand Chief Derek Nepinak

Some aboriginal organizations and chiefs have expressed concern that the public discussion about missing and murdered indigenous women has so far centred on the belief that the crimes are largely committed by indigenous men on reserves

henrybowman in reply to Tiki. | September 2, 2023 at 1:46 pm

Yup, but to clarify, this concerns contemporary cases of missing and murdered women, not these colonial-era graves.

      My response is down thread.

YES! In Wisconsin my cousin lives on a lake next to a large Indian res…

So many problems with the crazy a$$ Indians, breaking in the seasonal owners houses, everyone has guns, dogs, and security systems galore, lots of local robbery, violence,
      Etc… High drug/alcohol use…

      It’s the women ,
Young women from the tribes missing, tons every freaking month /year and no one seems to be doing anything because, you know, Indian land, Indian affairs

      Indian Women…

Live not by lies Alexander Solzhenitsyn’ warned and Canadians are. It’s Marxism’s march to destroy western religion.

I am an actual Canadian living in Canada. I’ve lurked here ever since L.I.’s coverage of the Chauvin trial.
Not one single body has been found at any of these so-called mass graves. In fact very few are even permitting the anomalies to be searched, under the guise of not disturbing any potential burial ground.

When this kind of thing is reported up here, your average joe’s response is usually “here we go again,” such is the frequency with which the usual suspects claim aggrieved status.

The left has learned the Nazi lesson of the Reichstag fire very well, along with the Nazi “big lie” theory.

.. but .. but Justin Trudeau gave them $320 million in compensaion

They didn’t stop with churches. They burned down the entire town of Lillooet, north/northeast of Vancouver. Sshh. It’s a secret.

Chief Derek Nepinak is a political animal, his concerns are political. You should note that. Past newspaper articles reveal it. He’s the driving force behind most shakedown schemes. His mother attended a missionary school. This he uses as cats paw to prise all sorts and manner of concessions.

His only concern regarding the overt hostility of Indian males towards their wives – and Indian women in general – the beating and murders – being the aesthetics of it. Not good optics.. It probably all orbits endemic alcohol abuse. Which is another thing he turns a blind eye to.

alaskabob in reply to Tiki. | September 2, 2023 at 9:02 pm

Same optic smothered in Alaska…. can’t have the real bush issues front and center. There are plenty of real issues of what happened to the natives in Alaska over the years, but no one can talk about what they did to each other.

thalesofmiletus | September 3, 2023 at 1:57 pm

Seems like someone has a defamation lawsuit against the media. 54 churches is a lot of damages.
