Days After Biden Approves $6 Billion Ransom Deal, Iran Takes Another Westerner Hostage

President Trump: ‘How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get?’

Days after President Joe Biden bypassed the congress to approve a $6-billion ransom payment to Iran, the Mullah regime has taken another Western national hostage as part of its ongoing ‘hostage diplomacy,’ media reports say.

On Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Guard (IRGC) disclosed that it has taken yet another Westerner in its custody, less than a week after Biden White House agreed to pay $6 billion for the release of 5 U.S. hostages. The media reports did not specify if the captive is a U.S. or a European national.

“The Biden administration has cleared the way for the release of five American citizens detained in Iran by issuing a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money,” the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

The Times of Israel reported the latest IRGC arrest:

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said Saturday they arrested a man with dual citizenship on allegations of “attempted rioting and to cause disruptions” in the city of Karaj, west of the capital Tehran.

The suspect was found to be in possession of “several smartphones and dollars of significant value,” the IRGC said, according to a report by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

It was unclear which nationality aside from Iranian the suspect held. Several capitals have accused Iran of practicing “hostage diplomacy” — arresting Western nationals to obtain concessions such as the release of detained Iranians abroad.

Iran has upped security and conducted a wave of arrests in the country’s Kurdish region on suspicion of “planning to create chaos” and producing content to serve “hostile media” on the anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini.

Reports on social media suggest that the Mullah regime may have taken additional U.S. and European hostages as dissidents across the country mark the first death anniversary of Mahsa Amini, a 21–year-old Iranian women who died in custody of the Morality Police for violating the hijab law:

Trump: ‘How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get?’

The Biden White House choose the 9/11 anniversary to announced the release of ransom to the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism and jihad. “On September 11, 2023, the 22nd anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in American history, the Biden administration approved a $6-billion ransom payment to the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism,” Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) noted in a op-ed published in the Fox News on Thursday.

“Biden agreed to transfer five prisoners and $6 billion to Iran in exchange for the ayatollahs releasing five American hostages — in effect, placing a $1.2-billion bounty on the head of every American hostage. This is a nearly 200% increase per hostage from the $1.7 billion Barrack Obama paid for four hostages in 2015,” Sen. Cotton added.

Outraged at the multi-billion ransom deal, former President Donald Trump asked if President Biden was personally benefiting from it. “So, let’s get this straight! We did a hostage TRADE with Iran. We gave them 5 very tough, smart people that they desperately wanted. We likewise got back 5 people BUT, we also gave them 6 BILLION DOLLARS!” Trump said on his social media platform Truth.

“How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get?” the former president inquired.

Iran vows to use Biden’s $6B payoff for ‘wherever’ it needs

While the Biden administration assured that the billions being handed out to the terror-sponsoring regime will only be used for ‘humanitarian purposes,’ Tehran denied having made any such commitment. “The money can only be used for humanitarian purposes, and we will remain vigilant in watching the spending of those funds and have the ability to freeze them again if we need to,” a U.S. State Department spokesperson told reporters this week.

“Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people needs, so this money will be budgeted for those needs, and the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined by the Iranian government,” Raisi declared.

Given Iran’s role as the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism, much of that money is expected to finance and arm Islamic terrorist groups across the Middle East. “Iran funds no less than 19 terror organizations on Israel’s borders and has invested heavily in encircling the Jewish state,” the Washington Examiner noted Sunday. “A former Israeli national security official estimates that Iran spends over a billion dollars a year funding the three most active terror groups whose raison d’etre is to destroy Israel: Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad.”

Taking non-believers f0r ransom as part of jihad is sanctioned under the Sharia Law, a practice dating back to the times of Islam’s founder Prophet Mohammad. Since grabbing power nearly 45 years ago, the regime has repeatedly held U.S. and Western nationals to ransom, including the hostage-taking of the 52 U.S. diplomats for 444 days after the seizing of the U.S. embassy in Tehran in November 1979.

We should trade a high level Iranian for this newly captured westerner.

Someone like Blinkin…

Wow! Never saw that coming!!

Maybe there was a reason not to negotiate with terrorists….

Hmm. After listening to Cruz, do the mullahs ever say “death to Biden?”

“The media reports did not specify if the captive is a U.S. or a European national.”

This could be an important detail.

I keep looking for the not shocked face emoji.

I’ve made this comment before, but perhaps if we really want to spend $6 billion (I know its the return of their money, but we’ll end up spending at least that much on defending against their newly funded terror initiatives), we should consider simply telling the mullahs that we’ll launch 500 Tomahawk missiles at their electrical infrastructure in a week if we don’t back all of our citizens. At $2 million apiece, that comes to $1 billion. Repeat every week against other infrastructure targets (ports, airports, water, basic industries) until we get our people back. Perhaps even Brandon will be able to negotiate a better deal after we get their attention. Then Kirby could have a triumphant press conference instead of explaining to us how difficult the two bit mullahs are to negotiate with.

Amen, I have written about returning Iran to the Stone Age many times.

Taking foreigners hostage is an act of war.
Maybe, for once, we should respond with our own act of war. (And have said this since about 8th grade.)

(Tempered with the fact that a lot of these folks are probably dual-citizens AND have been thoroughly warned, so I’m not sure I’d work to get them back at all.)

This was for 4 (four) Americans and 1 (0ne) British citizen, not 5 Americans!

No one can be surprised the Barky 2nd administration is paying Iran

The only way to pay is to play.

THIS is why you don’t pay ransom.

Sending Iran funds, even return of their own frozen assets, is a horrible idea. Why are we doing so for someone, presumably an adult, who decided to enter a Nation hostile to the West which has a very public history of putting foreigners into custody on spurious grounds? That sounds an awful lot like a ‘you’ problem not a ‘we’ problem to solve. My sympathy for folks who knowingly or recklessly tempt fate has entirely run out.

You don’t say!!!

Hell, if they are willing to
Split the payout, I’m on a plane, mule, camel…

*sigh* Once you pay Danegeld, you never get rid of the Dane. A basic axiom known to everyone with two brain cells to rub together…

You get more of what you reward and less of what you punish. This applies to both Iran and our government.

Subotai Bahadur

You always get more of what you reward.

This U.S. State Dept travel advisory has been in existence for many years now: “Iran – Level 4: Do Not Travel”

Do not travel to Iran due to the risk of kidnapping and the arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens. Exercise increased caution due to wrongful detentions.

I have exactly zero sympathy for American citizens who thought that couldn’t possibly apply to them and went anyway. Particularly the morons who maintained dual US/Iranian citizenship.

They were told not to go. We owe them nothing.

If someone is stupid enough to travel to Iran at this point then they are on their own. If you jump into a tank of sharks wearing a meat suit what happens is your fault

Hostage diplomacy. Call it what it is: extortion.

The United States and Western governments need to accept that the mullahs will never play by the international community’s rules.

Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result is a sign of insanity.

Progressivism will never let them admit that humans have a thing called “human nature” and that it is seldom impacted by malarkey like “international opinion” and that a lot of people just don’t want what they want (a perfectly safe, earthly utopia where we all sit around having perverted sex and eating bon-bons and evolving to a non-corporeal state).

So when Trump wins next year, will Iran release the hostages like they did in 1980?

Unexpectedly!

Anybody with more than a couple of brain cells knows that if there’s big money in crime, there will be more crime. In this case, the crime amounts to kidnapping for ransom. Expect more abductions and imprisonments of Americans in Iran.

Of course . . . that is why the USA and probably many other countries adhere to a “Pay No Ransom” policy!! . . . except for Obama and Biden and now Biden and Kamala! It endangers any American who would wonder close to that country and kidnapping near the borders is probably not unexpected!!!! The worst most destructive administration in my life time – and still MSM acts like there is no danger to the country. Even normal looking talking heads who sound sane get out on TV and talk about “All the wonderful accomplishments” this President has made. They must be only among the very wealthy – we the man in the street – ordinary, middle class Americans are in a financial quandary with inflation caused directly by edicts from the administration. The only way the retirees could be helped, perhaps “saved” is for the congress to get rid of taxes on Social Security – otherwise we can never ever catch up!!

It’s not paying a ransom as much as creating a lame excuse to provide laundered cash to muslim terrorists. Not credit, cash.

Think of the dent the pallet loads given to them by Obama and the truckloads left in Afghanistan by Biden would make in our national debt.

Why, exactly, are there Westerners in Iran to be taken hostage? Why are we “negotiating” to get back Westerners who were stupid enough to go there to be taken hostage? Seems to me that we’d be better off letting Iran keep them.
