Conservatives Unload on Fetterman Over Senate Dress Code Requirement

Conservatives Unload on Fetterman Over Senate Dress Code Requirement

Greg Gutfeld:”Come on, even Frankenstein wore a suit jacket.”

On Sunday, Fox News’s Chad Pergram confirmed that the Senate’s dress code is no longer.

The change only applies to the Senators. Others have to comply with it.

Gee, what could have caused this change?

Could it be someone who has never complied with the Senate dress code?

Of course it has to do with Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). He bypassed the Senate dress code by voting in the Democrat cloakroom doorway.

I hate hate hate HATE dressing up. Looking nice requires dark-fitted jeans and a button-down shirt or sweater.

But I comply when an event or place has a dress code or you’re expected to dress business casual.

I complain, but I comply.

Looks aren’t everything is a phrase for people who…well, you know.

Appearances matter. They always matter.

I’ll tell you this, though. I love Kirsten Sinema’s style. I see people on X/Twitter pointing out her outfits. But you know what makes her different from Fetterman?

Sinema isn’t dressed like a slob.

Needless to say, the conservatives are ticked.

Once again, Democrats dumb down the standards to appease the minority (in this case, only one man) and force the majority to go along.

This one move is more damaging to the Capitol than anything Democrats imagined happened on January 6.

I think they did it just to annoy conservatives, and anyone with a shred of respect. This is a slap in the face, disguised as an accommodation.

This seems like a remarkably silly thing to focus on.

War and debt, the border, the economy, and attempts to remove the presumptive Republican candidate from the ballots…

We have serious issues. If Fetterman wants to show up in the Senate wearing flip flops, who cares??

chrisboltssr in reply to clintack. | September 18, 2023 at 8:02 pm

Yeah, enforcing standards is not an issue. Ask yourself how we got into so many wars, incur mounds of debt, have a lax border, and moribund economy, and attempts to remove candidates off ballots. If you begin to say “because we lack standards and discipline” move to the head of the class.

If you’re not going to care about the small issues, you’re not going to care about the big issues.

It certainly wasn’t because the senate lacked a dress code. It had one, and it didn’t prevent any of those things. What makes you think not having one would make it any worse?

You sound exactly like those who claim that Chicago’s terrible murder rate even with draconian limits on gun ownership just proves their necessity, because if it’s this bad with them, imagine how bad it would become without them!

chrisboltssr in reply to Milhouse. | September 19, 2023 at 12:37 am

You have got to be the most stupidest educated person out there. And you definitely don’t know how to think, if you think me saying wearing suits in Congress could prevent wars.

As for Chicago, it is the way it is because idiot people like you exist to make excuses for bad people because you’re more afraid of being called a racist than protecting yourself.

That is exactly what you did say. That we have wars “because we lack standards and discipline”, as evidenced by this latest move. And this is exactly like the Chicago argument for restricting gun rights.

chrisboltssr in reply to Milhouse. | September 19, 2023 at 9:09 am

That comment is completely different from what you said above. And do you disagree we are in a lot of wars we shouldn’t be in because our leaders do lack discipline and standards?

healthguyfsu in reply to chrisboltssr. | September 19, 2023 at 10:39 am

We are not in a war because Fetterman wears a hoodie and bball shorts. I’m pretty sure Fetterman would have a hard time spelling war at this point if asked.

Yes, I disagree with that. Any wars we’re in that we shouldn’t be have nothing to do with “discipline” or “standards”, and they certainly have nothing to do with stupid dress codes.

Okay. Asking myself how we got into so many wars, incur mounds of debt, have a lax border, and moribund economy, and attempts to remove candidates off ballots.

I think it’s at least in part because we allow ourselves to get distracted by silly, silly issues and lose sight of the important ones.

Controlling the conversation is the single greatest power of the left-wing mass media — they stir up absolutely insane moral panics about plastic drinking straws or paper masks or two scoops of ice cream or, yes, a senator wearing shorts.

Standards and discipline are important. Of course they are. But this is dusting the mantle while the curtains are on fire.

Getting all of the deck chairs back into their proper positions is not a great use of your time as the Titanic approaches the iceberg.

The electorate will occasionally pay attention to what conservatives care about — if we tell them that it’s dress codes, when they’re upset that eggs are so expensive, they will correctly conclude that we aren’t the ones who can fix the problems. And then we get Ross Perot.

caseoftheblues in reply to chrisboltssr. | September 19, 2023 at 11:17 am

Chris you are correct and Milhouse is wrong as he is 80% of the time. He is typically rah rahing and defending evil and wrongdoing because he’s a lawyer and muh… there’s a comma there that makes it alright.

henrybowman in reply to clintack. | September 18, 2023 at 8:17 pm

    Who?
John Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Fetterman, 49th President of the United States?
    ALL YOU HATERS!

“Come on, even Frankenstein [sic] wore a suit jacket.”
Herman Munster wore his at home, and rocked it!

Johnny Cache in reply to clintack. | September 18, 2023 at 8:58 pm

What does “focus on” mean? No one is allowed to criticize it? Democrats destroy custom, ignore the law and repeatedly lower the bar. When do they ever stick to standards? If you can’t even be bothered to lob off the low hanging fruit, why should anyone trust you for the things in your list?

Republicans, by the way, have a record for the things on your list: Iraq/Afghanistan for two decades, majority support for Ukraine. The border has been a sieve since anyone can remember. The last balanced budget was almost a generation ago. Republicans have worked almost as hard as the Democrats to rid themselves of Trump.

You are fooling yourself this country takes anything seriously any more.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to clintack. | September 18, 2023 at 11:52 pm

From a commentator on Legal Insurrection. A place where most of the audience are attorneys or in the legal domain.

A place, I might add, where the practitioners of law understand that a comma misplaced in a contract can alter the entire meaning of that clause.

And yet, as precise as that punctuation may be, people argue that relaxed standards are OK.

As a loadmaster doing preflight on a C-5 Galaxy, with a takeoff weight of more than 649,000 pounds, a small error in the Form F could lead to a disaster.

So standards matter. Dress code matters. Every job has a precise moment where that precision matters.

“practitioners of law understand that a comma misplaced in a contract can alter the entire meaning of that clause.”

A semicolon decided who the governor of Texas was.

Milhouse in reply to henrybowman. | September 19, 2023 at 7:41 pm

Actually, according to your source, it didn’t. It should have, but the winner of the illegal election seized power anyway, and the loser declined to fight back, so the semicolon proved irrelevant.

But I don’t understand why the linked source derides the decision. It seems completely correct to me. Even if there had been no semicolon, that would just have made the clause unintelligble, so I would have said its absence was an obvious typo and it should be read as if there were one.

      this. nuff said.

Standards that matter are important. Standards that are completely arbitrary and useless are not important. No plane ever crashed because someone wasn’t wearing the correct number of epaulets, or had his shirt untucked.

        AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to Milhouse. | September 20, 2023 at 12:11 am

For fuck sake. You are the biggest pedantic on this site. Always pointing out some real or imagined minor error that someone makes that is not to your liking.

So, now for some reason you come on this site and chatter that standards and punctuation are not a big deal. What a mother fûcking hypocrite you are.

Apparently, you never wore a uniform of the US Armed Services.

It was drilled into every commissioned officer, warrant officer, non commissioned officer, and enlisted member that the uniform was “all the way on or all the way off.”

        No hands in your pockets.

Every tool was accounted for after maintenance was done.

Do it right the first time.

We had a Dash-1 for every aircraft, which had a preflight checklist that every crew member was required to use, step by step, no matter whether they did it one time or a million times. You NEVER skipped the checklist. Or people died.

Every cargo aircraft had a Dash-9 that have precise loading instructions, weight and balance, how critical and hazardous cargo was to be placed. Those checklists were followed to the letter. Or people died.

Every aircraft had Hazards, Cautions and Warnings to ensure crew and passengers were safe. They had to be followed, or people died.

And many more standards that FNGs thought were stupid. But those standards prevented people from getting killed or injured,

So, yes, no one died because I didn’t button my epaulets, or zipped up my jacket, or wore a hat.

But the standards were not reduced because some duck head retard didn’t think it mattered.

So, Uncle Fester needs to figure out whether he’s a clown or a Senator. Although in my book there isn’t much difference between to two.

Evil Otto in reply to clintack. | September 19, 2023 at 6:23 am

These people are supposed to be the servants of the people, not a bunch of college slackers who show up in “NO FAT CHICKS” t-shirts or wife beaters. Dressing like a professional is a sign of respect for your job, a minimum standard for being in high office. And Fetterman wears hoodies to hide the massive growth on his neck. It’s a ruse, and you’re falling for it.

CommoChief in reply to Evil Otto. | September 19, 2023 at 8:52 am

I would pay good $ to see lefty heads explode if Sen Fetterman would show up to the Senate rocking a ‘no fat chicks’ t-shirt. What’s next Sen Hirono in booty shorts?

henrybowman in reply to Evil Otto. | September 19, 2023 at 4:04 pm

Unless they were Photoshopped (I would not put this past Democrats), I’ve seen post-hospital photos that show “Little Igor” gone now.

healthguyfsu in reply to clintack. | September 19, 2023 at 10:37 am

The unpopular opinion here is right. This is worse than the left attacking Lauren Boebert for being a minor sexual misfit. It focuses on the stupid to ignore the real problems.

healthguyfsu in reply to healthguyfsu. | September 19, 2023 at 10:38 am

That shouldn’t have said ignore. I should clarify that as to mean that it draws attention away from the real problems in the name of just piling on.

Just when you thought they couldn’t make that mess in Washington anymore of a joke

Subotai Bahadur | September 18, 2023 at 8:23 pm

1) The Democrats control the Senate with 48 Democrats and 3 “independent” Senators who never vote anything but whatever the Democrats want. [51-49]

2) They cannot afford any losses. If they lose one Senator, in the unusual event that Republicans do not collaborate, their control will depend on the presence and vote of Vice President Kamala Harris. They are very, very afraid.

3) Fetterman is physically and possibly mentally well and truly buggered up. According to what is publicly known from Fetterman, his staff, and his doctors he has suffered from clinical depression since childhood. In 2017 he was hospitalized with atrial fibrillation. On June 4, 2019 he collapsed while presiding over the Pennsylvania State Senate. On May 13, 2022 he suffered an ischemic stroke apparently caused by the atrial fibrillation. At that time he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy too and a pacemaker and defibrillator were implanted. His stroke also left him with an auditory processing disorder and he requires closed captioning to deal with speech in real time and he has to take speech therapy. From February 16 to March 31 of this year he had to be admitted to Walter Reed Hospital for clinical depression. The prognosis does not sound good.

4) Right now the Democrats would move heaven and earth [if they believed in the former] to keep him happy, unstressed, and voting as he is told in the Senate. Thus, special privileges.

Subotai Bahadur

When the Dims lack basic respect such that they’re willing to cheat to install literal mental retards into office, why would anyone think they’d give a fuck about a dress code? Literal mental retards.

John Kennedy should show up in his skivvies.

Unacceptable dress is an important move in countering the Peter Principle. Screw up in unimportant ways to avoid being promoted to your level of incompetence.

The Gentle Grizzly | September 18, 2023 at 9:18 pm

LI’s resident grizzly has always been informal, and I have despised neckties my entire life. But, even I would have enough respect to be on the floor of congress in a sport coat and slacks, and possibly a tie, which, if the coat is buttoned, my beard would cover anyway. Congresswomen in a well-cut pant-suit or slacks and a jacket would not bother me.

Fetterman, even with all of his problems, has no excuse whatsoever to dress like he’s at a backyard bar-b-cue. He should have no slack cut at all.

I mean if I were a Senator I’d make the reasonable argument that khakis and a polo shirt should be fine for day-to-day small votes, with full suits only required for real big formal votes and proceedings.

But this utter slob just demonstrates what clowns the Democrats are. This isn’t a lower standard. This is NO standard.

And the fact that they’re still demanding that the unwashed servants adhere to the dress code while the Important People get to dress like an unemployed slob just demonstrates how unserious they are.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Olinser. | September 18, 2023 at 10:03 pm

      Agreed.

Your last point is the one that really set my teeth on edge here.

I am not happy with the dropping of the dress code for Senators, either. Dressing appropriately for one of the most serious jobs in the country is important, and frankly, I think a lot of our problems in the classroom have to do with ridiculously sloppy “teachers” showing up in their pajamas, with uncombed (rainbow-colored) hair. If you don’t have enough self-respect or respect for your profession to dress professionally, you do not deserve to be considered among the professional class. Setting a dress code for teachers would weed out the leftwing crazies in a second flat.

chrisboltssr in reply to Olinser. | September 19, 2023 at 1:19 am

And really it is just for one man. Even though the standard has been eliminated no other senator will dress informally like this incoherent clod Fetterman because they are all disciplined and will continue to conform to the standard. Fetterman just males a mockery of the supposed august body of the Srnate, which is where deliberate action is supposed to be taken.

It’s all nonsense and the Democrats prefer it that way.

William Downey in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | September 19, 2023 at 9:32 am

I’ve seen better-dressed people at BBQs.

What’s next? Sandals, board shorts, and wide-beaters?

Pajamas with robes in chili weather?

Drag?

It’s not like he’s some huge intellect with ideas of his own. His commie wife is running the brain dead idiot.

He showed up to ‘support’ the picketing UAW strikers and the strikers were dressed better than this unbelievable slob.

It would be one thing if he were wearing something like khakis/polo shirt, or something like that. Much more comfortable than a full suit, but still reasonable.

But this slob in his dirty gym shorts and hoodie is a JOKE.

So what we have is a Senator who is too brain-damaged to manipulate buttons, tie a tie, or tie shoes. Guess he can’t put on socks either. Apparently Dockers and polo shirts are too hard as well.

Actually, wouldn’t it be awesome if tomorrow every Republican Senator showed up in shorts, hoodies and athletic shoes?

Suits mandatory for those making the laws and those arguing the laws.

I wonder how the judiciary would feel if lawyers started showing up polos with the collars popped? Even in the bluest of blue hell holes the JDs need to show up in suit and tie.

He was nominated and elected by Democrats so they can laugh at you and put the big middle finger in your face.

Tommy Tuberville is considering showing up wearing a coaching outfit.

Susan Collins has said that she could come to session in a bikini. (But she won’t, thank God.)

I want the Senate to wear Togas now, we are at the end of the Roman Republic, so would seem appropriate.

Bucky Barkingham | September 19, 2023 at 7:53 am

Senate Republicans should all attend a session dressed exactly like Fetterman. Of course Cocaine Mitch would never allow it and only baybe 5 GOP Senators would actually do it. If roles were reversed all Dems would do it with the encouragement of Chuckie.

Once again, Democrats exemplify the saying “Rules for thee, but not for me” While Fetterman, a federal employee parades around in gym clothing, federal workers under him, and who he claims to advocate for (at least the union workers), still have dress codes and can be disciplined for not following the dress code.

And yet again, a rule is made to accommodate one person. Or is it to give conservatives a big middle finger?

Lucifer Morningstar | September 19, 2023 at 11:23 am

Perhaps I’m being dense here but if John Fetterman has such difficulty dressing himself appropriately for his job in the Senate then perhaps his wife could assist John in picking the appropriate clothing and assist him in dressing himself? He still has a wife, doesn’t he? So why isn’t she helping her husband not make such an absolute fool of himself with his clothing choices.

I had a Judge once who ordered me out his chambers because I didn’t have a coat and tie on. Mind you this was not the courtroom, just his private chambers, and he and I were the only ones present.

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho approves of this change.

If a congressional representative is a person with some common sense and intelligence, I don’t care if it’s a farmer dressed in coveralls or a person who wears shorts. Just because a person wears a suit and tie, does not make them anything special. Now Fetterman as a person or Senator, that’s another discussion. He’s just incompetent, but it’s not because of his clothing.
