Though Democrats have blamed conservative Republicans for the growing outcry from the Muslim community over the radical LGBTQ agenda being forced on children in public schools, the belief still exists among woke leftists that if they continue to play nice they can coexist with—and win over—devoutly religious, socially conservative Muslims who have become disaffected with Democratic Party.
It’s almost an understatement to say that theory has been put to the test in one city in Michigan, which saw an all-Muslim city council and mayor unanimously vote to ban the Pride flag and some other flags from being displayed on city property, a vote they held during ‘Pride Month’:

And last year, a Muslim who emigrated from Yemen as a teenager became mayor — the city’s first leader in nearly a century with no Polish roots — alongside what is believed to be the nation’s only all-Muslim city council.
Many residents in this tiny enclave just north of downtown Detroit saw these changes as a sign of the Hamtramck’s progressiveness. The Muslim community that had previously experienced discrimination, including voter intimidation and resistance to mosques’ public call to prayer, had finally taken its seats at the table.
Yet the ethnic, cultural and religious diversity that made Hamtramck something of a model is being put severely to the test. In June, after divisive debate, the six-member council blocked the display of Pride flags on city property — action that has angered allies and members of the LGBTQ+ community, who feel that the support they provided the immigrant groups has been reciprocated with betrayal.
“We welcomed you,” former council member Catrina Stackpoole, a retired social worker who identifies as gay, recalls telling the council this summer. “We created nonprofits to help feed, clothe, find housing. The only flags that can be displayed on city property, per the WaPo‘s report, are “U.S., state, city and POW/MIA banners.”
My first thought when I read this was “What the heck did they expect?” My second was to remind myself that the far left always expects mindless subservience from their core voting blocs.
Though there seemed to be general agreement from Twitter conservatives with the vote to only allow the American flag and related flags on city property, some other observations were made about the widening political rift in Hamtramck which ranged from serious to downright hilarious:

1) Both devout Muslims and Militant LGBTQRST’s are NOT part of our Social Contract nor do they consider themselves subject to our laws and Constitution when it gives them advantage not to be.
2) From Muhammed on, Islam has not tolerated other religions or violations of their Jizya at any time when they have power. You cannot find any historical examples of such, nor seriously claim a Reform Islam that does so;
3) Militant LGBTQRST’s have the same inclination when they are the majority, but have not had the same practice. When in the majority or in the plurality they attack “straights” as best they can.
4) Incidentally, when I refer to the Social Contract as I have been forced to do by events more and more lately; I find it’s principles are best stated in the Declaration of Independence. Which Contract is followed by fewer and fewer.
5) While there are secular particulars that also make up what a nation is, the people of a nation can be largely defined by a common culture and Social Contract. There are several mutually hostile nations within our borders who share neither. Neither of the two antagonists in Hamtramck can be said to share our culture or Social Contract.
6) When two foreign nations fight, we are not required to intervene unless it is to our benefit. I see little to no benefit to intervention now and a great risk of encouraging both to ally against us. Let them have at each other.

Last time I checked we have freedom of religion in the USA as one of the cornerstones of our Republic. They are really just missing the point of the OP, and that seems to be a more significant problem. The fact that the Democrats are losing one of their “intersectional” “allies” is the point here, not that a town elected the exact people it wants to represent them, which is their right in these United States. In this case I am afraid we have a fork in the road leading to many forests.

We are an internet culture (except very elderly first generation immigrants in retirement homes that includes Muslims) so a couple of fringe morons (which is what I am hoping these comments are) have the ability to alienate a lot of people (because frankly I have seen similar comments on Facebook and Youtube where the public actually is).
If it isn’t just a couple of fringe morons we have a much bigger issue.
I think it is wonderful to see my values, including patriotism from American Muslims, the only consolation to the possibility a couple of bigoted morons make sure they don’t come home back to our party is that Michigan is likely irrelevant for now anyway.
I hear you. And I hear the others, too. I think that both are right to a degree; Islam is not just a religion, it’s an entire legal and socio-cultural system that most adamantly does not fit in with our country’s founding values.
There’s a reason there was an uproar when Keith Ellison chose the Thomas Jefferson Koran for his swearing in: the English version of the Koran was widely circulated back in the day pretty much on the same basis American conservatives started reading Alinsky: to know thy enemy. It was not approval, it was not embrace; it was basic self-preservation.
Islam and America’s founding principles are fundamentally and forever ill-aligned. We can live alongside Muslims just fine as long as our Constitution holds, our American values prevail. But Islam is not compatible with anything our Founding Fathers believed, thought, or wished for our great nation.
When people are wary of Muslims in America, they are correct because Islam specifically teaches that there is no law, no religion, no god, no socio-cultural principle that is not guided by their prophet and their goal (as stated in the Koran) of global dominance over all peoples of all religions. Is your Muslim neighbor family of four likely to run around killing non-Muslims in pursuit of this goal? Well, obviously, no. But there is something to this concern among Americans (one shared by Thomas Jefferson) about Islam and its adherents. To pretend otherwise (or worse to believe otherwise) is not helpful.
I talked to a woman (retired school teacher) recently who openly said she was offended by the homosexual flag.
She explained it annoys her that homosexual activists appropriated rainbow colors for their flag and now when she sees rainbows she associates it with homosexuality.
But she has liked rainbows her whole life. But now she can not appreciate the natural beauty of a rainbow because when she sees one her mind tricks her into associating it with homosexuality.
And that offends her.
I once used to teach “gun safety.” Now that term has been larded with filth.
I was also once “colorblind.” And I still am.
It’s SO entertaining watching Western “multiculturalists” experience… multi … cultures…. These idiots are SO FUNNY!!!!!!
