Hate Crimes Surge In Democrat-Run Cities

Hate Crimes Surge In Democrat-Run Cities

“Los Angeles, the nation’s second-largest city, had the most reported hate crimes — a record 609, with 195 of those classified as anti-Black, 98 as anti-gay (male), 91 as anti-Jewish and 88 anti-Latino.”

In addition to all kinds of other crimes, new research reveals that hate crimes are surging in a number of American cities. One other thing that these cities have in common is that they are all run by Democrats.

Oddly enough, this report from Axios leaves out any details about the party affiliation of city leaders:

Report: Hate crimes surged in most big cities in 2022

Most of the nation’s 10 largest cities had significant jumps in hate crimes last year, increases that averaged 22% to a record 1,889 cases, according to a new report.

Why it matters: It was the second straight year of increases in the big cities’ overall average number of hate crimes — typically defined as violence stemming from victims’ race, color, sexuality, religion or national origin.

  • The unpublished report by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, reflects a 22-year trend of increasing hate crimes nationwide, amid a rise in white nationalism and soaring numbers of attacks on Asian Americans during the pandemic.
  • Los Angeles, the nation’s second-largest city, had the most reported hate crimes — a record 609, with 195 of those classified as anti-Black, 98 as anti-gay (male), 91 as anti-Jewish and 88 anti-Latino.
  • Chicago, the third-largest city, had the biggest increase — 84.6%, followed by Austin, Texas, at 58.6%.

There are positive signs for some big cities in the report: Phoenix, San Diego and San Antonio had significant declines in hate crimes last year.

Zoom in: Among smaller cities — those with populations of 500,000 to 1 million — Sacramento, Calif., saw the most significant percentage rise in hate crimes (47.4%), followed by Kansas City, M0. (32.3%).

Zoom out: Black Americans were the most frequently targeted group in many cities, but the study said there were some cities where the LGBTQ+ community, Asian Americans, whites and Jews were the most attacked.

John Nolte of Breitbart News provides some much needed clarification:

In most cases, Democrats have ruled these hate-filled cities without any Republican opposition for decades.

In Democrat-run Chicago, hate crimes are up—this is not a typo—84.6 percent over last year.

Chicago has been run by Democrats since 1931.

In Democrat-run Austin, hate crimes have surged 58.6 percent.

Austin is one of the most left-wing cities on the planet.

In Democrat-run Los Angeles, hate crimes are up 40.6 percent.

Los Angeles has had only one Republican mayor in 62 years.

In Democrat-run Philadelphia, hate crimes are up 26.5 percent.

Democrats have run Philly since 1952.

There’s more, but you get the idea.

The crime problems in America right now are horrible, but it’s important to remember that these problems are being allowed to happen. We don’t have to live this way.

More to the point, who is committing all these hate crimes. Certainly there are a lot committed by white people, but as far as I can tell most are not. In particular, most hate crimes against Jews and against Asians seem to be committed by black people. I’ve barely even heard of hate crimes committed by a white person against East Asian people. And I’ve personally witnessed several instances of hate speech against East Asians, all of which were by black people.

    From the cited report:

“In 2020 the FBI found nationally, that 166 of 232 known offenders, or 72% were white, 16% Black, and 6% Hispanic, but in New York City Black and white offenders were evenly divided.”

So nationally it sort of evened out to near the percentage of population. However, when you get inside the city then blacks are disproportionally higher.

One of the biggest problems with these reports is that all too often, for purposes of COMMITTING hate crimes, Hispanics are white, but in reporting them–even if the hate crime in question is blatantly anti-white, they suddenly morph into PoC.

Plus, we have to take into account the ease in which hate crime claims are lodged against white perps, while it often takes an Act of God to make a DA lodge one against even the most blatant non-white offender, and if the victim is white, often even God can’t make it happen.

Milhouse in reply to henrybowman. | August 31, 2023 at 7:38 pm

I don’t think that is actually true. DAs seem happy to charge hate crimes regardless of the victim’s and perpetrator’s races.

“In 2020 the FBI found nationally,…” You know it’s bullsh-t when the FBI is involved.

As I read the article I had the same question as Milhouse – who are principle perpetrators of these crimes? That should have been addressed in the article, but wasn’t.

There’s no such thing as a hate crime. It would be an enjoyment crime, if it’s to be classified emotionally rather than legally.

Milhouse in reply to rhhardin. | August 31, 2023 at 10:18 am

Nope. Hate crime means a crime that is committed not for the criminal’s enjoyment but out of hatred for a larger group of which the immediate victim is (or is perceived to be) a member. Since the intent is to terrorize all members of that larger group, they are all indirect victims.

henrybowman in reply to Milhouse. | August 31, 2023 at 3:55 pm

Which, of course, is collectivist BS used to legitimize “thoughtcrime.”

Milhouse in reply to henrybowman. | August 31, 2023 at 7:44 pm

No, it isn’t. Motive has always been a legitimate factor to take into account at sentencing. All “hate crime” laws do is formalize that and take it away from the judge’s discretion — as well as giving it to the jury to determine whether that was in fact the motivation instead of leaving that to the judge’s biases as well.

Look, it is a plain and obvious thing that there is a huge moral difference between some juvenile graffitist putting his tag on a house, and someone painting a swastika on a house in a Jewish neighborhood. The actual crime is the same, but the former deserves a slap on the wrist, basically just make them clean it up and write an apology, while the latter deserves serious punishment, because the home owner is not the only victim, the intent was to terrorize the entire community, so the penalty should match it. And that is what hate crime laws do.

This is why the case for them breaks down when it gets to murder, because the penalties for murder are already so serious that it’s hard to make them more serious if motivated by hatred. Especially in states where it gets the death penalty anyway; you can’t execute them twice.

“hate crimes” make mind-readers out of district attorneys and judges. It opens the door to tryanny – as we are seeing.

Milhouse in reply to Milhouse. | September 1, 2023 at 2:00 am

Bullshit. DAs, judges, and juries have always determined the motive for crimes, and the accused’s state of mind in general. State of mind is an element of many crimes, which means it must be proved beyond reasonable doubt, and the legal system has never had a problem with this.

And no, we are not seeing it abused in any way, and certainly not in a tyrannical way. All the evidence I’m aware of is consistent with prosecutors and judges applying the hate crime laws fairly and impartially. If you’re aware of contrary evidence, present it.

Stormfront pitched itself as conservative in 2007, and only took a few minutes to figure out it was a Jew-bashing holdout from early Southern Democrats. They talked incessantly about “false flags”.
Projection?

E Howard Hunt | August 31, 2023 at 10:08 am

The only way to fight this is to encourage more love crimes.

Democrats seem to like living under Democrat governance. They keep voting that way.

If a person with covid died of a heart attack in 2020 it was recorded as death with covid. The heart attack just didn’t support a political narrative.

If a person is attacked after taking money out of an ATM in 2022 and is non-white non-straight non-Christian then it was a hate crime. The flash of the cash just doesn’t support a political narrative.

ahad haamoratsim in reply to George S. | August 31, 2023 at 10:50 am

And if he was beaten to a pulp nowhere near an ATM and not robbed, that’s probably just more self-serving paranoid self-aggrandizement by – well, you know how THOSE people are.

Hmmm. Democrat run cities claim guns are bad and are leading the country in gun control and yet it is in these Democrat run cities that you see the greatest gun violence. Democrat run cities claim to be sanctuary cities, but once illegal aliens start arriving these sanctuary cities do all they can to export these illegal aliens to other locations, try to sue those who brought them the illegal aliens, or complain about how unfair this all is. We see the greatest push for equity and LGBTQ rights and such in Democrat controlled cities and yet they seem to have the greatest problems with these issues. Democrat run cities are at the forefront of stopping hate crime and now we find these cities are leading in hate crimes. Then there is COVID response, teacher issues, emergency response issues, financial issues, over regulation, people fleeing their cities…. Is anyone else noticing a trend here?

Whitewall in reply to Cleetus. | August 31, 2023 at 12:18 pm

Maybe the ultimate problem with D run cities is way too many Ds living in them? Any way you slice it, Ds are the problem everywhere.

McGehee in reply to Cleetus. | August 31, 2023 at 12:18 pm

That the Democrat’s first resort is always to blame everybody else?

Hmmm… Nope, just can’t make it out. I must have quite imagined it.

henrybowman in reply to Cleetus. | August 31, 2023 at 4:08 pm

“and yet it is in these Democrat run cities that you see the greatest gun violence”

Gun control is like COVID vaccine. When you adopt it and it entirely fails to work, it’s totally because of noncooperation by deniers. You need to force it on everybody else who doesn’t want it, only then will it work. Wait, other states, too. And other countries, goes without saying.

Only after Burundi is entirely vaccinated and Afghanistan is entirely disarmed will we have peace and health and brotherhood in Chicago and Baltimore. That’s the way it works, shut UP.

Well, it looks like the communists still do a completely shitty job at governing all of the places that people are stupid enough to put them in charge.

Capitalist-Dad | August 31, 2023 at 1:25 pm

And of course “hate crime” is meticulously defined—not!

    Milhouse in reply to Capitalist-Dad. | August 31, 2023 at 2:30 pm

Actually it is. The legal definition in each state is as precisely defined as any other category of crime, and there are decades of judicial precedent interpreting those definitions.

However, the reporting process is run by *people* and in particular leftists who don’t like being called criminals. So we’re getting hate crimes ‘interpreted’ as (stretching the point here) Recklessly Refusing To Hand Over Money To Oppressed Minorities And Shooting Them Instead, or Not Decorating A Cake With (censored) In The First Degree, or even the dreaded Putting Out A Fire At A Mostly Peaceful Demonstration And Refusing To Be Murdered For It.

henrybowman in reply to georgfelis. | August 31, 2023 at 4:10 pm

Ooh, I wish I could pummel that up-thumb over and over.

Milhouse in reply to georgfelis. | August 31, 2023 at 7:48 pm

No, the official reporting process has nothing to do with people or leftists. You are referring to reports by the news industry, but those have no legal effect whatsoever. The only reports that count are those by victims and police, and the only decisions that count are those by prosecutors in the first instance, and then by juries. And I have yet to see evidence that that system does not work exactly as it should.

The news industry is a completely different matter, and operates by its own whims that have nothing to do with reality, let alone with the law.

“The only reports that count are those by victims and police, and the only decisions that count are those by prosecutors in the first instance, and then by juries.”

And of course the police and prosecutors are meticulous in their reporting of crime. I believe google could easily come up with a dozen police districts where violent felonies have been soft-pedaled into petty misdemeanors with one click. Oh, and if you had your car broken into and anything stolen in SanFran, your crime will most likely never make it through the police system at all. The only business that is booming in SanFran is window glass repair.

Sorry to break it to you: the news media is owned lock stock and barrel by the “law”.

They’re certainly not overreporting it, which is the claim we’re dealing with here.

What on earth are you talking about?

A surge in crime or a surge in definition changes?

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/08/hohmann-why-is-irs-buying-40-caliber-submachine/

When the corporate media asked the IRS why it needed automatic weapons, millions of rounds of ammunition and heavily armed staffers trained in the “use of force,” they said it was for “administrative reasons.”

But we now know that the globalists are not just arming the IRS, along with just about every other federal agency. They are militarizing these agencies to the hilt with military-grade weapons not available to American citizens.

Why, for instance, would the IRS need armored vehicles, flash-bang grenades loaded with tear gas, and .40-caliber submachine guns?

The IRS has been arming up for at least ten years. At the end of 2017, the IRS had 4,487 firearms and 5,062,006 rounds of ammunition in its weapons cache, according to an August 8, 2022, Forbes article, “Inflation Reduction Act Unleashes A Tougher IRS.” You can bet they’ve got a lot more than that stored up six years later in 2023.
