Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Scolds Reporter for Using ‘Mob Action’ to Describe Teen Takeovers in the City
“That’s not appropriate. We’re not talking about mob actions”
The city of Chicago has a problem with large groups of teens taking over areas and running wild. The term ‘mob’ is a perfectly acceptable descriptor for the situation, but Mayor Brandon Johnson recently scolded a reporter for using it.

Chicago’s new mayor Brandon Johnson took issue with a reporter for using the phrase ‘mob action’ to describe a rabble of up to 400 teenagers who trashed a 7-Eleven.
A huge crowd stormed the convenience store in the South Loop just after 9pm on Sunday and wreaked havoc with some looting items and others vandalizing it.
The large gathering resulted in the arrest of at least 40 people, aged 12 to 20, as police tried to get the situation under control.
Mayor Johnson was addressing a wide-range of issues during a news conference on Wednesday including migrants, safety and the latest instance of teenagers gathering.
But he disagreed with a reporter’s use of the phrase ‘mob action’ to describe the behavior of the large group despite the fact it is a legal term.
‘That’s not appropriate. We’re not talking about mob actions,’ Mayor Johnson said on Wednesday.
‘We have to be careful when we use language to describe certain behavior.

South Loop 7-Eleven looted, 40 arrested in teen takeover
A South Loop convenience store was looted Sunday night, and dozens of people – mostly teenagers – were arrested, as yet another teen takeover hit a downtown neighborhood.
Police said the group stormed stores and fought through the streets near Roosevelt Road and Canal Street.
As CBS 2’s Marissa Perlman reported, there was still trash Monday afternoon around the 7-Eleven at 560 W. Grenshaw St. – adjacent to a Mobil gas station at Jefferson Street. It was a sign of the chaos that had erupted just hours earlier.
Neighboring businesses said this was the second time a group of teens targeted the area in days.
Dozens of teens were seen raiding the 7-Eleven just after 9 p.m. Monday in a social media video from ChitownCrimechasers.
The store was trashed as young people tossed stolen merchandise into the air and ran away with their arms full of goods.
Wouldn’t you use the word ‘mob’ to describe this?

Remember when a large, coordinated group of young people showing up in one place was called a “flash mob”?
I remember. The Chicago mayor apparently doesn’t.
Flash mobs weren’t always criminal. Sometimes they would pick up trash, or support a business by buying a lot of stuff, or make music (flash mob orchestras and choirs are amazing!). But they were all “mobs”.
Now, the Chicago mayor doesn’t want large groups of young thugs to be called “mobs” in the media, despite the accurate description. (Maybe “mostly peaceful protesters” is preferable?)

It’s a fair question. All the prominent names that I can think of were either corrupt, incompetent, stupid, or, some toxic combination thereof.
I’m thinking of the following utterly corrosive and destructive mayors — David Dinkens, Kwame Kilpatrick, Sharpe James, Corey Booker, Lori Lightfoot. I’m sure there are myriad other names that I’m not aware of, or, that I otherwise can’t recall.
Willie Brown was a shrewd political operator, but, I wouldn’t count him as an especially competent mayor.

Because there is no substantive rebuttal to be proffered. With perhaps a couple of minor exceptions, Dumb-o-crat mayors — of any ethnicity or skin pigmentation — have been manifestly awful for American cities, and, the historical record offers irrefutable evidence of that fact.
Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young were both good mayors of Atlanta, GA. Atlanta had a long history of cooperation between the black clergy and business leaders (white and black) helping to lead the city and avoid racial tensions.
However, that started to change with Kasim Reed and then went all the way into the woke shitter with Keisha Bottoms, a full-blown race hustler.
I lived in Atlanta for 14 years and enjoyed my time there… it was a very black city but was well run, mostly clean and safe. But it’s been 15 years since I left, and like everything else they touch, the woke c*nts have destroyed the city.
Fair enough, but, Jackson and Young are fairly described as exceptions to the rule of standard incompetence/corruption/malignancy by Dumb-o-crat mayors, in general — of all skin pigmentations.
Notice the two good ones had conventional names and the decline began with someone with a quasi-African name.

And they dare to cry rivers of tears over a dearth of services and good food in our core urban areas.
Pretty simple identity politics in play that appeal to the poor and ignorant regardless of race but blacks have a cultural component making them especially vulnerable. That’s why you see more black politicians in these situations.
If left alone, administrations that play identity politics usually collapse from economic forces as long as they’re not propped up with outside financial subsidies prompted by guilt and mis-placed compassion that keeps the cycle of insanity going. So cut off the funds and let these regimes collapse as they should.
If you can’t bring yourself to be completely heartless, then appoint a city manager to take over the finances and running critical services with the authority to eliminate local laws and the politicians that created this mess.
