Conditions of Release: Hunter Biden Must Look for a Job, Not Use Controlled Substances, and Consume No Alcohol
I doubt making art will qualify for a job. Then again, you never know for a Fortunate Son.
Judge Maryellen Noreika told Hunter Biden he must do the following to stay out of jail as part on an ongoing investigation:
- 1) NOT possess a firearm
- 2) NOT use or possess any controlled substances (including marijuana) unless prescribed
- 3) Submit to full federal supervision
- 4) NO use of alcohol AT ALL
- 5) Seek active employment
- 6) Submit to testing for prohibited substances
- 7) Participate in substance abuse therapy

Hunter was prepared to plead guilty to tax evasion charges and a felony gun charge.
The sweetheart plea deal between Hunter and the prosecutors fell apart when it came to light that the defense demanded it protects Hunter from any future prosecution:
But the plea deal collapsed during a court hearing after Judge Noreika raised concerns about the terms of the agreement and her role in the proceedings.
The plan also included an agreement on a separate gun charge — Hunter Biden has been accused of possessing a firearm in 2018 as a drug user. As long as he adhered to the terms of his agreement, the gun case was to be wiped from his record. Otherwise, the felony charge carries 10 years in prison.
The overlapping agreements created confusion for the judge, who said the lawyers needed to untangle technical issues — including over her role in enforcing the gun agreement — before moving forward.

What I do not understand, at all, is why the judge didn’t slap that Bengels chick, Hunter’s attorney, and some of the principals over at Latham And Witless with contempt and throw them all in jail for a little while?? WTFF?? Is it possible to show any more contempt for the court, outside of firebombing it?? But this judge just lets Hunter’s lawyer set a friend at his old firm to lie to the court to get an amicus brief removed (and it’s not as if this wouldn’t be immediately found out) and nothing is done?? I’ve seen judges threaten contempt for so much less.
I would hope they’re going to take that up as a separate issue and investigation of the lawyers involved. It may have been instigated by the Bidens, but the lawyers are the ones who did the crimes.
Even though I know our justice system is horrifically corrupt and obviously multi-tiered, it still shocks me when I see it.
Sometimes I struggle to remember the dire situation we are actually in.
The first order of business then is to apply for unemployment payments.

I’ve been self-employed myself… but when a judge orders you to “find employment,” I’m pretty sure that’s not acceptable.

If he plead “not guilty”, how dies the court assert jurisdiction regarding his habits?
Don’t get me wrong, we all know that Hunter is a scumbag deserving of punishment.
But are we not all “innocent until proven guilty?” Who says, and by what authority, that Hunter cannot drink a beer? The Judge can impose restrictions regarding his travel out-of-country to guarantee his appearance in court, but until his conviction, he has the right to drink.
I am not a jurist and welcome any comments that set me on the proper course of thinking.

Apparently a “Supervising Officer” in the Central District of California will be overseeing Hunter Biden and the conditions imposed on him. See Additional Conditions of Release § 7 (a).
Not that I understand how a plea agreement can be made in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware but assigns supervision to the Central District of California. I would have thought the Delaware court would have wanted to keep Hunter under their jurisdiction and not on the other side of the country.

My tinfoil hat suggests that his “new employer” will end up to be Newsom, who is running himself and could really use a reliable 10% bagman. The Swamp DNC is “retiring” Joe by sawing off every support strut, one at a time.
It will be interesting to see who steps forward to offer him a job.
Tobacco should have been included as a proscribed substance. Remember when Hunter was thrown out of the Navy for testing positive for cocaine on a second occasion? He claimed that, while walking past a convenience store, a loitering black man spontaneously offered Hunter a loose cigarette. Only after lighting up and inhaling some needful drags, did he realize it must have been laced with cocaine. An innocent happenstance that anyone might have fallen victim to.

I said right off, that the motorcade was really terrible optics. This list of terms might have been a response to that,,, who knows, but it is a message that Hunter is not special, at least in one court room. People say that 45 didn’t accomplish much,,, well his administration did appoint this judge.. funny how that worked out.
The Judicial appointments are definitely more enduring than the choice to use EO v building a majority legislative consensus to get statutes passed. Can’t fault DJT on the Judicial appointments he got confirmed though.
That said he was very slow in making nominations to District Judge vacancies and left some openings on the table. He seemed to focus on getting nomination to Appeals CT level done and of course SCOTUS. Took input from the Federalist Society and his WH Staff worked with McConnell and the Senate Judiciary Committee members to push the nominees to confirmation. Overall an excellent job with Judicial appointments.
Trump did a lot of good. He made the most of his Executive discretion by issuing EO and/or a shift in regulatory philosophy or change in agency priorities. Those are less permanent and Biden has reversed most of the them.
His biggest failure, IMO, was refusing to use his Veto power on the budget Ryan and McConnell sent him which didn’t have border wall funding. For some reason he chose not to fight the DC establishment and we didn’t get the border wall built. Some sections were built but just like the EO Biden reversed course and left piles of construction materials rusting unused.

Not quite. There were judicial vacancies at the District level which had NO nominee b/c Trump didn’t nominate anyone to fill the open position.
Recess appointments are supposed to be the exception not the rule. A President isn’t automatically entitled to have the Senate adjourn so he can make appointments.
Was McConnell being a jerk about it and using his prerogative as Majority Leader to thwart a prerogative of the President? Sure he was.
It causes me to wonder why he was so intransigent. It isn’t like Trump used his Veto to slap down McConnell over the border wall funding and directly challenged McConnell’s hold on the reins of power.
Maybe McConnell just didn’t like Trump in the same way Trump didn’t like McConnell? Maybe McConnell wanted a horse trade /favor in return but was denied by Trump? Maybe McConnell is an arrogant ass? Maybe Trump Pissed him off over something? Maybe Trump didn’t kiss McConnell’s ass enough? Maybe McConnell is a sell out?
Probably all of those reasons. Bottom line is Trump left more than 50 Judicial vacancies on the table. He had an average vacancy count above 125 until 2020. From late ’17 to early ’19 the average was over 150 vacancies. Trump was tardy on judicial nominations until mid ’19.
Don’t need a recession appointment if you haven’t selected a nominee.

Let’s see. Been in rehab 6 times in 10 years, not counting outpatient. Yep, he’ll stay off the stuff. And I’m sure they’ll do random, unannounced tests. Did I mention that I am the long-lost emperor of Neptune? Because if you believe he’ll quit and that they’ll do those tests, you’ll believe anything.
