Pence Begins Presidential Campaign With FEC Filing

Pence Begins Presidential Campaign With FEC Filing

“MIKE PENCE FOR PRESIDENT” filed this morning.

Former Vice President Mike Pence filed paperwork with the FEC, which means he’s running for president.

Pence will go up against his old boss, Donald Trump.

Pence will supposedly announce his candidacy on Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sen. Joni Ernst’s Roast and Ride fundraiser for veterans took place this past weekend.

Pence took part in the motorcycle ride with Ernst, being the only Republican in attendance who has not declared his candidacy.

However, Pence told the audience, “I don’t have anything to announce today, but I can tell you when I got time to announce come this Wednesday, I’m announcing in Iowa.”

The RINO arm has a deep bench.

Understand ‘His Rotundity’ the former NJ gov has declared as well. What was that movie years ago….Thunderdome? We have the makings in the R primary.

I would write in Mickey Mouse before I would vote for Pence.

MattMusson in reply to Paula. | June 5, 2023 at 3:53 pm

      Third Party Pence.

His nomination would drive us all to a 3rd Party!

Danny in reply to MattMusson. | June 6, 2023 at 10:50 pm

Really? Why? You are so convinced the constitution doesn’t exist or that there is a text in it that makes the VP god for a day and entitled to chose the winner whatever the electorate said?

    diver64 in reply to 2smartforlibs. | June 5, 2023 at 6:12 pm

Good luck with that. I wonder what the game is? Pence, Christi, Asa, that guy from North Dakota… Bleed enough support from Trump so DeSantis wins or is it DuhSantis or DeSanctimonius, or Rob DeSanctis? I can’t keep it straight

He’s TOAST even at this stage.

Are we supposed to care about this? Because I don’t give a crap.

Former Congressman, former Gov, former VP. Nice guy, good family man, devout, effective administrator. In the ’90s or early ’00s he might have had a shot with his resume. Unfortunately he is trying to run in the ’20s and a Mr Rogers Republican isn’t going to cut it.

Running as the deep state traitor he is

CommoChief in reply to gonzotx. | June 5, 2023 at 4:22 pm

Can you provide an example of treason committed by Pence that meets the statutory definition for the crime of treason against the US or is that just hyperbole?

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | June 6, 2023 at 5:53 pm

More than 24 hours later and still no example of treason which meets the statutory definition committed by Pence. I’m gonna go ahead and crack that unproven claim up to hyperbole.

Danny in reply to CommoChief. | June 6, 2023 at 10:51 pm

You won’t get one, his “treason” was his loyalty to the constitution in refusing to do something incredibly illegal on Jan 6th.

The only Trumper’s need to dehumanize and scapegoat him for that.

      diver64 in reply to gonzotx. | June 5, 2023 at 6:13 pm

I don’t think that. I think that he did what he thought was right which I disagree with. A lot of disagree. I keep hearing that he had no choice but to certify the results. Well, if that is true then why did the Founders write that whole thing into the Constitution?

ChrisPeters in reply to CommoChief. | June 5, 2023 at 1:41 pm

The trouble with Pence is really the lack of a political backbone. He speaks like a conservative, but his actions have long betrayed him.

Danny in reply to ChrisPeters. | June 6, 2023 at 10:52 pm

Give one god damned example. I think he should be out of the race because he is dividing the not Trump vote paving the way towards a second Biden term.

But give one god damned example of Pence betraying anyone.

retiredcantbefired in reply to CommoChief. | June 5, 2023 at 3:26 pm

Deborah Birx alleges that Mike Pence gave her cover after President Trump no longer wanted her promoting lockdowns, mask mandates, etc. to the governors of various states.

Assuming that’s true—he hasn’t denied it, as far as I can tell—Mike Pence became a servant of the Deep State during Trump’s term in office. No one should support him.

CommoChief in reply to retiredcantbefired. | June 5, 2023 at 4:19 pm

I don’t doubt Pence did so, he’s been an establishment, don’t rock the boat, let the govt run wild ‘out of an abundance of caution/Top Men are working it’ sort his whole career.

Of course the President runs the executive branch and if Trump wanted to fire or publicly harangue Fauci or Brix nothing was stopping him from doing so.

mailman in reply to CommoChief. | June 5, 2023 at 5:18 pm

Apart from the Democrat media pouncing on the firings as more examples of Trump killing Americans 🙄🙄

CommoChief in reply to mailman. | June 5, 2023 at 6:19 pm

Are you’re saying that Trump didn’t fire Fauci or Birx b/c he was scared of the media saying bad things about him?

The media saying bad things about the GoP is par for the course. Recall that Romney was compared to Hitler as was Trump, though DeSantis is being billed as worse than Hitler and worse than Trump so maybe the media is trying on the ‘worse than’ for size.

retiredcantbefired in reply to CommoChief. | June 6, 2023 at 12:07 pm

Trump couldn’t have fired either Birx or Fauci from their regular positions— those were well protected by law. He could have kicked them off the White House task force.

This has to change. ANY executive branch agency must be under the direct purview of the president who is head of the executive branch, that means that he can fire any top executive branch person at will. I do understand why we have the crap we have, every president coming in and cleaning house every four to eight years would create chaos, but it’s gone far too far. Also, I seem to remember Obama finding a way to cull patriots from the military and from every executive agency (the IRS, NTSB, and ATF come to mind). How did he do it? Whatever he did, we need to be doing to correct this disaster.

Trump’s Schedule F changes were a step in the right direction, just too little, too late. Besides, it was Trump, as you note, who kept Fauci and Birx front and center, grinning and telling the nation they were GRRRR-8, well into the fall of 2020 (unforgivable to my mind). Also, Trump listened far too much to his leftist daughter and her leftist husband. They did a lot of damage, and Trump just stood by grinning. Shudder.

CommoChief in reply to retiredcantbefired. | June 6, 2023 at 1:28 pm

Yes indeed. He could have sent them to count snowflakes in Alaska and done so very publicly. With his next breath Trump could have directed the Civil Rights division of DoJ to intervene in Court on behalf of Citizens whose rights were being trampled by various totalitarian State Govts and private employers. He could have had the various US Attorneys in coordination with FBI open investigation into Municipal, County and State leaders/officials who conspired to restrict the liberty of Citizens.

He didn’t do any of that. So maybe he was afraid of the media being mean to him after all?

And we saw Trump siding with Fauci over Brian Kemp in public, and repeatedly over the issue of reopening.

We have also seen in real time that Trump believes Andrew Cuomo did it right and Ron DeSantis did it wrong regarding covid.

Your definition of deep state actor seems to include the president who actually had authority (which our founding fathers said a Vice President doesn’t).

Olinser in reply to CommoChief. | June 5, 2023 at 4:05 pm

You know I ask everybody that claims he’s a ‘nice guy’ what exactly makes them think he is, in fact, a ‘nice guy’.

Nobody actually has an answer other than he TALKS nice about things.

As far as I can tell, being a ‘nice guy’ is just an excuse to never, ever actually stand up and fight for your alleged principles.

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | June 5, 2023 at 4:13 pm

That seems like a fair description. If someone never seems disagreeable and is apparently unfailingly polite and even tempered it’s hard to cast them as something other than nice.

Gosport in reply to CommoChief. | June 5, 2023 at 4:30 pm

Completely failed in the one major decision he had to make. The decision is what it is, his opportunity to explain it to Americans was dodged. Because he hadn’t the ball to do it.

E Howard Hunt | June 5, 2023 at 1:48 pm

Pathetic. A country that shrugs its collective shoulders at its children being castrated and coddled by drag queens will not support a milquetoast who identifies as a devout Christian.

Morning Sunshine | June 5, 2023 at 3:22 pm

he was an ok VP, I had no beef with him. But his actions during the re-election campaign made me think he was a Romney-lite. And that is a big turn off.
I kind of feel like he was supposed to be like George Bush to Reagan – the party hack forced onto the ticket to control the crazy populist

CommoChief in reply to Morning Sunshine. | June 5, 2023 at 5:05 pm

Yep. Like a scoop of plain vanilla added to a cone of tutti fruity to balance it out. Sometimes a scoop of plain vanilla is very good and just what you need, the ’24 campaign isn’t one of those times.

Subotai Bahadur | June 5, 2023 at 3:46 pm

Yes, he is running technically as a Republican. But we all know which party he really wants to help, and it is not the Republicans or anyone conservative in any way.

Subotai Bahadur

Pence is doing this to gain money from donors who do not want Trump. Pence knows he has no chance of getting even 1% of the vote.

Pence had plenty of time to commit to his position on certifying the election. Correct me if I am wrong, but his letter of intent to NOT challenge the election was issued the morning of 1/6/2021. Just in time to prevent everyone fully knowing it. That makes me wonder if he wasn’t “in on it” with the Deep state. He is untrustworthy.

stevewhitemd | June 5, 2023 at 5:51 pm

I am very pleased Mr. Pence is running.

The voters who cast a ballot for him will self-identify as people I don’t want to be around and don’t want in the Pub party.

Pence reached his national prominence as VP by volunteering to keep Trump in check, which he did superbly. He led the Trump transition team that pushed wretched early appointments of deep staters. His true role in Flynn’s removal needs investigation. In charge of the COVID-19 Task Force he let Fauci run wild. Along with the other leeches around Trump, and Trump himself, Pence should have worked hard to prevent the 2020 election fraud before it played out in November..

    jb4 in reply to RAM500. | June 5, 2023 at 9:06 pm

In fact, Trump’s transition team was originally headed by Chris Christie, who was an effective NJ governor, good politician and a long time friend of Trump, at the time. Christie wanted to be AG and would have likely prevented many of Trump’s problems. My understanding is that Trump listened to his son-in-law, Kushner, and dumped Christie, who as a Federal prosecutor had put Kushner’s father in prison. Trump failed to learn the lesson of JFK and Obama – your AG pick is your most important. He made many poor personnel choices, the second worst likely being the prominence he gave Fauci. Arguably, those two alone are why Trump is not now President

Mike Pence, the one person in the entire USA that Trump believed would be the best vice president ever. This decision by Trump was HUGE!

Pence can go sit on a sequoia for all I care

Pence was a Koch Brother boy, just like Ron.

Ron DeSantis has at least 42 billionaire donors. Here are some of the most notable.

https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/local/state/2022/05/25/florida-desantis-notable-billionaire-supporters-koch-publix/9745715002/

What so many don’t know is that the Koch brothers, Charles and David (the latter deceased) both promote a Constitutional Convention, are pro-aborts, pro-open borders, pro-gay marriage, pro-UN Agenda 21/30, and masquerade as conservatives.

CommoChief in reply to MarkSmith. | June 6, 2023 at 1:34 pm

The Koch Brothers don’t masquerade as ‘conservative’. They are plutocrats who adopted some portions of libertarian thought b/c it serves their purposes. They and folks like them are globalist in outlook and don’t truly value American Exeptionalism.

For some reason, the Only Trumpers have forgotten that the Koch brothers supported Trump in 2016 and that they (or by then, he, since David had died) were backing efforts to overturn the election in Trump’s favor.

They also conveniently forget (or willfully ignore?) the ESG-pushers at Blackrock also supported Trump with massive donations, but decided against doing do again (despite Trump relying on Blackrock for covid advice!).

The only thing I can think of is that they were not really upset about the Kochs or Blackrock or any of the billionaire investors . . . until they pulled their support from Trump.

This is not about “dirty money” or even globalism (since Trump was in bed with all these globalist parties in both 2016 and 2020) but just Trump’s butt hurt that they don’t support him now. And they are not supporting DeSantis, either, from what I can tell (and for good reason); that’s another Trump world lie, but I’ve been saying this for months, providing factual information and links, and they don’t care.

Their worldview is TRUMP. That’s it. They make up all this stuff to support that blind “loyalty,” but it’s fantastical, willful blindness that deliberately ignores the truth. If you show them that something they believe about Trump (or DeSantis) is wrong, they don’t care, they just double-down on their fantasy-based worship of a mere man. It’s very odd. And very cultish.

MarkSmith in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 6, 2023 at 2:19 pm

I disagree. Trump policy was anything Globalist. Jobs and Energy independent. He supported the farmers. He was trying to get the chip manufacturing back here. He was reducing our global police force. The border wall and immigration. Middle class wealth was increasing and more inclusive to the black community. Why are the globalist billionaires rallying around DeSantis? Well maybe they think he represents their interests including the Ukr. War. So tell me, what truth am I ignoring?

        Think about this:

Kansas doesn’t care about illegal workers. A farmer there simply hops into his combine harvester, slips some Pink Floyd in the CD player, heads out to the fields, and returns three hours later with 15,000 boxes of shredded wheat ready to go.

Florida farms, however, grow oranges, watermelon, beans, squash, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers and so on. These require pickin’.

It is all a stunt to make DeSantis look strong, but he is not. Against Ukr. then for it. Oh I will not let them extradite Trump to New York but his “payment” comment was class act wimp. Trump has been under attack from day one and he is still fighting. DeSantis folded on UKr. Unless DeSantis really pulls off the gloves and addresses the lawfare, the J6 Civil Right solicitations, the Russia gate, the Ukr war, the true impact of the illegal immigration policies, he is a Bud Lite Moment with a few PR stunts. Jeb Lite.

MarkSmith in reply to MarkSmith. | June 6, 2023 at 2:23 pm

And lets throw in election fraud too. Have you seen the reports about the semi full of ballots. Considering the guy that said he saw bags of ballots at his apartment building in New York combined with a semi full of ballots, their need to be more done about this. DeSantis is not talking about it and I think I know why. He is part of the club.

Why did the globalist millionaires rally around Trump? Because they knew that nothing he did was going to affect their goals. Everything Trump did outside of judicial appointments (including SCOTUS), the repeal of the ObamaCare tax, and the Abraham Accords were done by the pen and phone. His greatest accomplishments that have any lasting value were things that any Republican president would have achieved (with the exception of the Abraham Accords, by far his greatest accomplishment).

I think Trump was a good president, but he couldn’t cut deals with Congress that needed to be cut (even when he had two years of majorities in both Houses), he blinked on the wall, he completely reneged on his promise to investigate Hillary and “lock her up,” he didn’t get ObamaCare repealed, and he damned sure didn’t drain the swamp. The swamp owned him, dragged him under, and made him a joke. We can do better. I don’t know if DeSantis can do better (I have long said that I prefer DeSantis stay as my gov), but I do know that he can’t do worse.

At least DeSantis is focused, intelligent, and knowledgeable; he knows the deep state, Congress, the states. He’s not going in blind as Trump did, and he wouldn’t be hobbled by Trump’s staffing problems. EVERYONE wants to work in a DeSantis admin; no one with a brain wants to work in a Trump admin. Who would? He attacks his own people with more vigor and delight than he does the left. Heck, Trump cuddles up with Andrew Cuomo while bashing DeSantis and sings the praises of one of the most despicable people on God’s green earth, NoKo’s Kim Jong Un.

I get that you love you some Trump, but I don’t. I hope we can still be friends. 🙂

MarkSmith in reply to MarkSmith. | June 6, 2023 at 8:43 pm

but he couldn’t cut deals with Congress that needed to be cut (even when he had two years of majorities in both Houses),

Technically yes republicans were in majority, but come on. Mitch did everything he could to stop Trump. When Mark Warner is pushing the Russian Hoax and with the attacks on Flynn. No cabinet picks would have made it through the Senate if it was not for Mitch.

To say Trump had majority is BS and some of the most active attacker were RINO’s. Come on look at Romney. DeSantis will fold like a paper bag if he was under such attacks, but he wont have to since he is bought and paid for. The way Mick Mulvanny handled the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was huge. The CFPB was a big kick back scam that he shut down.

As for Hilary, really? Her and Bill owned the State Department and all the DOD and NGO kick backs. I know people at DOJ and they loved Hillary. Based on Russia gate, they would do anything to get Trump since their little darling lost the election. An election they could not cheat enough to win.

Tell me big money was not behind stopping Trump. Can you say Tom Donohue? Stop pretending that Trump had support where he did not. Mitch carried the water for Blackstone. Mitch pushed it to the limit to stop Trump and he was still successful. As some say, the GOP is all about money and the DNC is all about power. We are fighting the Uniparty and DeSantis is part of it. It is obvious by his positions he is taking and the company he is keeping. Prove to me he is not bought and paid for?

diver64 in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | June 6, 2023 at 5:54 pm

You are quite correct, Fuzzy. I think Trump was kinda stunned at being elected and was very naïve. He thought that after being elected the Government would do their best to follow the President’s lead but he was sadly mistaken as the Cathedral showed for 4 yrs and continues to hound him to this day. I doubt he will make that same mistake again but I’m not going to vote for him in the primary. Mr. Scott is looking better and better with the optimism of Pres. Reagan.

          Danny in reply to diver64. | June 6, 2023 at 11:04 pm

So much of that was the result of Trump’s own bad decision making process it is incredible.

Nobody took a gun to his head and forced him to do an interview with Don Lemon where he gave the press the rope to force a special counsel investigation.

Actually one Rosenstein literally wrote an iron clad memo solidifying extremely good reasons to dismiss James Comey and if Trump had restricted himself to saying “If you wish to know why I fired him read the memo and I will say no more” no investigation…..but of course Trump knows best……..

That isn’t naivety it is pride.

Letting the military go woke because he was too lazy and awe struck to provide it with oversite….

The presidency isn’t just writing an executive order and tweeting.

I like Tim Scott, but he has no chance at all of winning the GOP primary. I think that we’re looking at a replay of 2015-16 in which there were far too many candidates, and each one was briefly held up as the best candidate to defeat Trump in the primary, and each one crashed and burned (mostly because the others all ganged up on him at the same time). We need a much smaller field and a much more focused GOP voting base (one that won’t leap on anything shiny for a second before leaping on to the next shiny thing). We’re not going to get that. So yeah, Scott looks great now. Next week, Pence or Haley will. The week after that . . . you know how it goes. We did all this before.

Danny in reply to MarkSmith. | June 6, 2023 at 11:00 pm

Ah so billionaire support is disqualifying?

Fine stop supporting Trump billionaire funded since 2016.

By the way for who is the more pro-abortion and pro-drag queen, pro-Disney candidate that is Trump.

Pence, wasn’t he in charge of the Covid response?

In a televised speech to the nation tonight, President Donald Trump addressed the growing threat of COVID-19 and put Vice President Mike Pence in charge of a task force to lead US response efforts.

slow news day?

How out of touch can Pence be? He reminds me of ‘Butch’ Reno running for Florida Governor after sticking a machine gun in the face of Elian Gonzales and deporting him after his mother died getting him safely to the U.S.
She had the nerve to campaign in Miami and the Cuban community.

My thoughts about Pence is that he really lacks a political backbone. He speaks like a conservative, but his actions have long betrayed him.
