Biden’s State Department Coddles Fragile Employees with Counseling to Cope with Being “Misgendered”

Biden’s State Department Coddles Fragile Employees with Counseling to Cope with Being “Misgendered”

Your tax dollars at work.

One of the (very many) troubling trends in recent years is the truly bizarre leftist demand to be kept “safe” from speech or words that might “trigger” them on some emotional level.

It started in colleges and universities, and as the fragile snowflakes moved from their bubble world in which all wrongthink was banned or shouted down to the “real” world, they brought their infantile crybullying with them.

For some reason that is still not clear to me the federal government, the media, and many corporations and large businesses bow to these troubled adults who apparently can’t make it through the day if they get their feelz hurt by some “microagression” or other invented slight.

Case in point, the State Department recently enacted some new program that automatically added pronouns to the “From” line of its emails. Obviously that was a huge waste of taxpayer money even if it had worked properly, but the thing that upset the public servants who work at State was that many (most?) of them were “misgendered.”

This ridiculous assault on the English language typically means referring to a person by his or her biological sex rather than some self-declared “gender identity”; it’s used as a cudgel to bludgeon common sense and biological reality out of the great unwashed, to force us to tell lies we know full well are lies. In this case, it is used more literally; apparently, male employees were provided “she/her” pronouns while females ones were provided “he/him.”

Cue the wailing and rending of clothes. Fainting couches were (probably) promptly stacked high with wailing adults who had the wrong gender pronoun assigned to them by some idiot DIE initiative that should never have been approved in the first place.

Not to worry, the State Department was quick to assure its overly-sensitive workforce that they would make available counseling for them to handle their deep grief, feelings of unsafety, and unbearable despair.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

The State Department will offer counseling to any employee “who feels hurt or upset” by a system-wide email glitch that temporarily assigned random and often incorrect gender pronouns to staff.

The State Department is offering free therapy to “any employee who feels hurt or upset as a result of this unfortunate mistake,” according to an internal email that went out to employees on Friday. Many State Department employees were “triggered” on Thursday, when emails from colleagues suddenly began to include random pronouns, like, “She/her/hers” and “He/Him/His” in the “from” line.

. . . . Those upset by the misgendering are encouraged to contact the State Department’s Employee Consultation Service “to speak to a professional counselor.”

“I want to stress that the intent behind making this feature available is to make our systems more inclusive and provide employees with options—not to make decisions for them,” Kelly E. Fletcher, the State Department’s chief information officer, wrote in the email. “I recognize that this error had the opposite effect, and again, I am very sorry.”

Fletcher informed staffers that the State Department is “testing a new feature that will provide users with the option to include their preferred pronouns in their Global Address List profile.”

“During the test,” she wrote, “the feature inadvertently went live, and a large number of employees had randomly assigned pronouns added to their profiles.”

In the future, employees will have the choice to pick their preferred pronouns.

“I deeply regret the confusion and distress this mistake caused our workforce,” Fletcher wrote.

. . . . State Department employees expressed shock and confusion by Thursday’s pronoun incident, with one source telling the Free Beacon, “This is distracting from the work that we are actually supposed to be doing. A lot of people here have been triggered today.”

Needless to say people had thoughts.

How about counselling for State Department employees in Benghazi who were upset when no attempt was made to rescue them when they came under attack? Oh that’s right. No counselling is needed because they’re all dead.

What difference does it make?

First world problems among the woke Orwellians. They are so weak in mind, especially as individuals, until someone misgenders, even if innocent and oblivious. Then they become inquisitors, part of the mob, trying to ruin a person’s life. Of course, they seek empathy, as they have none. Time to show them the door until THEY learn to respect the rights of others. No real equity is warranted in this case. There is a doctrine of clean hands, and theirs are very dirty.

“the State Department was quick to assure its overly-sensitive workforce that they would make available counseling for them to handle their deep grief, feelings of unsafety, and unbearable despair.”

I don’t need all that shit. Just a REAL apology for insulting me needlessly, and the report of an “employment action” against the feckwit who caused the problem.

But, of course, it’s easier to throw tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars down the toilet on useless counseling than for a Democrat to admit he fucked up and punish the actual culprit,

We are so screwed

Can you imagine how disrespected we are around the world?

How about keep the list of folks who asked for counseling over this so the next admin can fire their ass.

Unfortunately Chief, if they are tenured they can’t be fired over that. I served in 3rd world shit -holes where I had to have an armed guard stand outside the grocery store when I shopped, because Islamic terrorists had a sword with my name on it. It came with job, along with the diplomatic perks and the paycheck. The only counseling I needed came every other week via direct deposit into my checking account. The current leadership at State sickens me.

You wrote: “Unfortunately Chief, if they are tenured they can’t be fired over that.”

This needs to change. This situation in which it’s almost impossible to fire anyone working for the federal government is untenable and unacceptable. Time to reclassify a buttload of gov’t jobs and clean house across the Executive. Trump’s Schedule F is a good place to start.

Forget reclassifying government jobs it’s time to classify a buttload of government departments, administrations, bureaus, and whatnot as unnecessary for the proper administration of government and eliminate them altogether along with their employees.

And after we complete that task we make doubly darn sure that such an administrative bureaucratic monstrosity cannot occur ever again in our government.

        Agreed.

Too easy. Reassign them to the new joint Inter agency task force at Ice Station Zebra in the revitalized Arctic Command. 36 month, unaccompanied tour.

We have to leave all this behind. There is no future in a 50 state union.

“Misgendered” is a lie. Telling the truth is not misgendering

IMO proving those people are mentally unstable

All change comes fro. Stress. Culture is shaped by stress. If you wear your underpants on the outside you will be laughed at and stressed back into wearing them properly.

What is going on, across the board, is queerness being redefined to remove said stress. And yes I said ‘queer’. They even want to redefine that perfectly descriptive term. Queer simply means abnormal. If you think you are in the wrong sex, or make love to your same sex, or think your morbidly obese body is beautiful, or my words are violence you are simply abnormal; outside the bounds of what our culture permits without stress.

Hell, these queers even want to name people who are inside the culture as ‘normies’ to disparage us. Well I say those people are queers, in the very best sense of the word.

“This is distracting from the work that we are actually supposed to be doing.”

Well, at least there’s a bright side. Sounds like they need to be distracted more. The more these nitwits are distracted, the better off we’ll all be.

I have a question, or two: Where is Milstein? Wh/at happened to him. he seems to have gone missing.

Fat_Freddys_Cat | May 22, 2023 at 8:29 am

For a Boomer like me this is incomprehensible. I don’t just say that because I endured worse than being called something I didn’t like. The thing is, my generation is nothing special. We weren’t specially smart or tough. I was simply raised with the right expectation: that the world can be tough and unfeeling so I have to be resilient. More than that, I have to place a true value on things: if somebody who doesn’t know me calls me something unintentionally why should I be upset? How was I harmed, really?

It just doesn’t have to be like this.

I think the reason why the government and many companies focus on coddling their snowflake employees is because many in leadership positions suffer the same sort of “trauma”. Just look at who holds those leadership positions. Many of them are gender confused to use their vernacular. I guess it’s tough being them! Poor babies!

I weary of these polynomial pronominal testimonials.

There are two genders or sex-correlated attributes (e.g. sexual orientation): masculine and feminine. And two trans/genders: femimasculine and mascufeminine. Still two sexes that are equal in rights and complementary in Nature from conception. #HateLovesAbortion

Nice to know our nation’s foreign policy is being handled by people who haven’t matured enough to deal with being referred to by the wrong title, not even if it’s accidental.

Having worked at the State Department for a number of years, I can tell you that your tax dollars have been wasted in many ways – not just in “clarifying pronouns.”

Jeebus H Under-Weaponized Language, Abridged…

I have known more than one colleague who could lay one out far beyond the ability of counciling to address, without slightest reference to gender, or really any other fact of one’s personal existence.

I feel somehow we have become diminshed, if the things we find problems are any indication of ourselves.
