NC State Sen. Natasha Marcus: Discomfort Women Feel Over Having Men Play in Women’s Sports Is ‘Worth It’

“It might make other people a little uncomfortable in some cases, but it’s worth it,” NC State Sen. Natasha Marcus said of allowing men who identify as women to participate in women’s sports.

Pretty much every person on this planet has said things that if they could go back and watch themselves on video they’d likely wish they could take back.

Unfortunately for the people represented by Democrat Natasha Marcus in the North Carolina Senate, Sen. Marcus is not one of those people even though she should be after what she said during a committee hearing Tuesday on the GOP-sponsored Senate version of the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act.”

The bill’s primary sponsor, Sen. Vickie Sawyer (R-Iredell), opened the floor to questions after noting that she used to be a female athlete and that she knowingly once signed up to play on a co-ed team, but that her situation was different from a woman signing up to play on a women’s sports team and then later learning that a man who identifies as a woman will also be allowed to either compete for her spot or play against her.

Marcus was the first one to ask questions and provide her opinion on the bill, at times bizarrely laughing and then at one point claiming it was unnecessary since there are allegedly only a few transgender athletes in North Carolina. She also said that there are bigger issues that they should be tackling than supposedly targeting a small group of people who were just looking to fit in, which suggests that in Marcus’ view protecting women’s safety and opportunities is not important.

Marcus also suggested that the transgender athletes who made women uncomfortable were not unlike Sen. Sawyer, who Marcus said probably made the men on her sports team feel uncomfortable back in the day.

It was after Marcus made her comments about transgender athletes making women feel uncomfortable that she proclaimed that “it’s worth it” for women to feel that discomfort if it means transgender athletes get to play in their places.

Marcus also mockingly downplayed a very serious incident that actually happened in North Carolina involving a female high school volleyball player who suffered a concussion and other serious injuries during a game after a transgender “female” volleyball player spiked the ball over the net so hard it hit her in the head at what reportedly was an unusually high rate of speed.

The Carolina Journal reported on Marcus’ remarks:

“[It might make other people a little] uncomfortable in some cases but it’s worth it,” Marcus said. “I understand there was one report at a volleyball game where it’s unclear if the athlete was a trans athlete and if that was the reason, injuries happen. I will point out injuries happen in sports all the time we don’t need legislation to try to protect everyone and in every case.

Marcus went on to say that the bill violates Title IX protections under federal law and doesn’t understand why things like gun violence in schools and teacher shortages aren’t being discussed instead.

Watch:

The willful ignorance on display by Marcus on this issue was staggering, but that’s really nothing new coming from her.

First, apparently, Marcus doesn’t understand the difference between knowingly volunteering to play on a co-ed team as Sawyer did versus signing up to play on a team that is supposed to be segregated on the basis of sex.

Secondly, it doesn’t matter if there was only “one report” of a female athlete getting injured as a result of a transgender “female” athlete’s superior strength. We pass laws in this state based on singular incidents all the time. And in this case it’s especially necessary because the women who play on women’s sports teams do not do so with the intention of competing against members of the opposite sex who are stronger and faster than they are and who have the ability not only to take away their opportunities but to physically hurt them.

Case in point, the volleyball player in question, Payton McNabb, who told her story this week to the North Carolina press alongside “Save Women’s Sports” spokeswoman Riley Gaines:

Gaines tweeted about the incident involving McNabb and the transgender player on her Twitter feed:

Below is a bigger video clip of what happened to McNabb. As a result of this incident, her school district announced they would forfeit all future games against the team (Highlands School) with the transgender player:

As for Marcus’ claim that the bill violates Title IX? Who does she think she’s kidding here? NC Superintendent of Public Instruction Catherine Truitt set her straight:

“If we are truly to maintain a level playing field in women’s sports, biological sex must supersede gender preference,” said NC Superintendent of Public Instruction Catherine Truitt, the mother of two daughters. “There are inherent and intrinsic biological differences between men and women that impact and boys and girls that impact athletic performance.”

[…]

“This is why we needed Title IX protections in the first place, and this is why Title IX is so important,” she said.

As for Marcus suggesting that it was “worth it” for women and girls to have to go through feeling uncomfortable (and unsafe) if it meant a man identifying as a woman could play on their team (and use the same locker room), well, that’s not that far off from what the Charlotte Observer said in 2016 about the so-called “bathroom bill”:

Isn’t it so odd that the most passionate defenders of so-called transgender rights at the state and national levels are Democratic women and their allies in the mainstream press? I mean this is actual war on women stuff here, yet Democrat women are leading the fight to set all women back decades. It’s surreal.

When these people tell us who they really are, we should listen. And Marcus definitely told us who she is—who Democrats really are—this week.

“It’s worth it.” Says who and who made Sen. Marcus the spokesperson for all North Carolina women? Men who have delusions of womanhood should be receiving mental health treatment, not the adulation the Left seems to want to bestow on them. Gender Dysphoria is a mental disorder and that does not give them a free pass to infringe on the rights of others. Men pretending to be women have no business competing in women’s sports.

What I don’t hear Marcus call for directly is an end to women’s sports. It course that’s exactly what she is proposing indirectly with her call to allow biological men to compete against women.

IMO, the easiest way for States to tackle this issue is for the State Legislature to require competition based upon biological sex and gender from K-12. Schools would be free to allow specific co-ed teams and leagues to form apart from traditional teams and leagues if they wish and Parents give consent for their child to participate.

Let colleges do whatever they want in intramural leagues but not traditional scholarship sports. If the lefty weirdos want to lobby and advocate clearly and directly for an end to Title 9 then they are free to do so but until they achieve that they can pound sand.

What immediately came to mind when I read this DEMOCRAT’s “worth it” remark was Madeleine Albright’s 1996 comment to Leslie Stahl (another lefty),

“We have heard that half a million [Iraqi] children have died [carrying out DEMOCRAT Clinton’s bombing decision]. I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima,” Stahl said. “And, you know, is the price worth it?”

“I think that is a very hard choice,” Albright answered, “but the price, we think, the price is worth it.”

But as with all DEMOCRAT policies, other people pay the price with death. Albright always got a good night’s sleep.

In essence, the Democrat party is mentally ill.

henrybowman in reply to alaskabob. | April 22, 2023 at 12:37 pm

And on that topic, take another look at the crazy eyes captured in the lead photo. Is it just me, or do the people seated around her look embarrassed to be associated with her?

If she’s not mentally ill, she’s on the take. Or both. What a psycho.

Enabling mental illness is the #1 priority for leftist, white women. Most women don’t want to get abused by a man during competitions and then see his junk in the locker room afterwards.

This is the best thing that can happen to the GOP! This might help ameliorate the abortion position that the GOP has taken with younger women. We’ll never know until the election.

“If we are truly to maintain a level playing field in women’s sports, biological sex must supersede gender preference.”

Oh no! No! No! No! Gender preference trumps everything.

Rule #1: When people are crazy, everyone is required to play along with their fantasies and pretend they are sane.

Why do so many women hate women?

Feminists have been useful for years in getting women better treatment in sports only to now be set aside for the new game in town–males who want to be considered female while playing girl’s sports.

Feminists were early into the arena -1970s- pornography wars calling it abuse of women. They were right only to be told to cool it because of what mattered to Democrats then–Free Speech. Feminists largely obeyed for the sake of power and unity against Conservative attacks. Feminists seem to be willing to be useful for Dems only to ‘come to heel’ when told to, all for the sake of power and control. Women have been used and abused and cast aside by their own allies.

It is always about power and control. Note how the “Green” people have disappeared now that whales are dying in numbers over windmills being put in their ocean.

The solution for this transgender situation may end up being tens of millions of damages for injured or raped women. (Note prisons for women as well.)

“Women have been used and abused and cast aside by their own allies.”
Can’t wait until the Democrats stab blacks in the back the same way.
They don’t know it’s coming, but we do.

Women feeling uncomfortable is a power play. Nobody worries about men feeling uncomfortable.

The right argument is that there’s no competition in the competition. Rules for sports are designed to make the sport interesting:

Very little of what goes on among human beings, very little of what goes on in so limited an activity as a game, is merely conventional (done solely for convenience). In baseball, it is merely conventional for the home team to take the field first or for an umpire to stand behind the catcher rather than behind the pitcher (which might be safer). In the former instance it is convenient to have such a matter routinely settled one way or the other; in the latter instance it must have been found more convenient for the task at hand, e.g., it permits greater accuracy in calling pitches, and positions an official so that he is on top of plays at home plate and faces him so that his line of sight crosses those of the other umpires. More or less analogous advantages will recommend, say, the Gerber convention in bridge. But it can seem that really all the rules of a game, each act it consists of, is conventional. There is no necessity in permitting three strikes instead of two or four; in dealing thirteen cards rather than twelve or fifteen. – What would one have in mind here? That two or four are just as good? Meaning what? That it would not alter the essence of the game to have it so? But from what position is this supposed to be claimed? By someone who does or does not know what “the essence of the game” is? – e.g., that it contains passages which are duels between pitcher and batter, that “getting a hit”, “drawing a walk”, and “striking a batter out” must have certain ranges of difficulty. It is such matters that the “convention” of permitting three strikes is in service of. So a justification for saying that a different practice is “just as good” or “better” is that it is found just as good or better (by those who know and care about the activity). But is the whole game in service of anything? I think one may say: It is in service of the human capacity, or necessity, for play; because what can be played, and what play can be watched with that avidity, while not determinable a priori, is contingent upon the given capacities for human play, and for avidity. (It should not be surprising that what is necessary is contingent upon something. Necessaries are means.) It is perhaps not derivable from the measurements of a baseball diamond and of the average velocities of batted baseballs and of the average times human beings can run various short distances, that 90 feet is the best distance for setting up an essential recurrent crisis in the structure of a baseball game, e.g., at which the run and the throw to first take long enough to be followed lucidly, and are often completed within a familiar split second of one another; but seeing what happens at just these distances will sometimes strike one as a discovery of the a priori. But also of the utterly contingent. There is no necessity that human capacities should train to just these proportions; but just these proportions reveal the limits of those capacities. Without those limits, we would not have known the possibilities. To think of a human activity as governed throughout by mere conventions, or as having conventions which may as well be changed as not, depending upon some individual or other’s taste or decision, is to think of a set of conventions as tyrannical. It is worth saying that conventions can be changed because it is essential to a convention that it be in service of some project, and you do not know a priori which set of procedures is better than others for that project. That is, it is internal to a convention that it be open to change in convention, in the convening of those subject to it, in whose behavior it lives. So it is a first order of business of political tyranny to deny the freedom to convene. (Cavell, The Claim of Reason)

Another elected Cultural Marxist

With tens of millions of dead…communists considered it worth it. Ridding the Bill of Rights? “Worth it” for their precious democracy.

Democrats have gone full Big Brother on the trans bandwagon. Like all their other policies, it’s always about totalitarian control over our lives even if it means assaulting reality. You must obey.

Democrats are now pushing the equivalent of 2+2=5 and Freedom is Slavery. They are just doing it with biology.

Pick your phrase: Men are women. Pregnant people. Men can menstruate. Transwomen are real women. You don’t need a uterus to be a woman.

Imagine that men are now dictating to women what it means to be a woman.

We can only hope that this Orwellian double think and turning those of us with common sense into thought criminals will turn enough people against the Democrats in 2024. If not and Biden with his puppet masters win again, things will get worse, much worse.

Everything regarding the contemporary Dumb-o-crat ethos and platform involves fanatical extremes. They have staked out zealous positions on every issue in which moderation is completely absent, thus making political and cultural compromise totally impossible to achieve.

“Imagine that men are now dictating to women what it means to be a woman.”
Imagine that Democrats still imagine the “Handmaid’s Tale” world to be a Republican goal, when in real life they’re molding it every day.

rhhardin in reply to henrybowman. | April 22, 2023 at 5:52 pm

A woman is not interested in the definition of woman. Belief in some such truth is man’s problem, not hers.

Supposing truth to be a woman – what? is the suspicion not well-founded that all philosophers, when they have been dogmatists, have had little understanding of women, that the gruesome importunity with which they have been in the habit of approaching truth have been inept and improper means for winning a wench? Certainly she has not let herself be won – and today every kind of dogmatism stands sad and discouraged – if it continues to stand at all! Nietzsche BGE

That which will not be pinned down by truth is, in truth – feminine. Derrida’s gloss. It would have been a good answer. A woman is what will not be pinned down by truth.

rhhardin in reply to henrybowman. | April 22, 2023 at 5:55 pm

Additional – feminism doesn’t want a castrated man, it wants a castrated women.

A couple of decades ago, no one would have believed that the vociferously self-styled, allegedly pro-“women’s rights” Dumb-o-crats would one day flippantly and callously cast women aside, in order to agitate on behalf of obnoxious, pathologically narcissistic, attention-seeking and increasingly belligerent/violent male trannies masquerading as women and brazenly invading women’s sports and private spaces.

henrybowman in reply to guyjones. | April 22, 2023 at 12:45 pm

Well, I would have believed it.
Though in my version the transes would have been a much better-funded donor group.

I submit that the obnoxious, vile and evil tranny terrorists, child groomers and misogynists must be harshly dealt with, as well as their equally vile and evil Dumb-o-crat and media cheerleaders and enablers.

Tranny terrorism, malignant narcissism, child grooming and obnoxious and brazen misogyny must collectively be one of the defining issues of the 2024 presidential election contest. Enough is enough.

Jane, you ignorant slut.

“at one point claiming it was unnecessary since there are allegedly only a few transgender athletes in North Carolina.”

“Fine, then, you shouldn’t have any objection to enacting it.”
That’s the proper answer to this stupid objection. Always.

Once you perform reproductive… human rites.

Under Critical Class Theory (CCT) of diversity [dogma] in Progressive Liberal sects, human life is interchangeable, exchangeable, disposable in color, class blocs.

Feminism, masculinism, racism, et al are class-disordered ideologies under the [Pro-Choice] ethical religion.

Thank you, Ms. Matthews.

Flagrant and public looniness is simply no obstacle for an NC hard leftist like Natasha Marcus when the Charlotte Observer is riding shotgun for her.

Although Sen. Vickie Sawyer seemed to articulate a contrasting (that is, pro-women) view, the deafening silence of women’s groups is key to the continued growth of loons like Sen. Marcus. Where is the vocal opposition of women? One woman here and there is notable mostly for its scarcity. Where are they?

Saw a Pepsi semi truck delivering today with a what looked “Pat” from SNL and something about “SHE”…. I honestly couldn’t tell WTF it was.

This was in Washington State- I’m not sure why any beverage company would go there right now.

Apparently, expressive individualism is available to trans but not to biological women. Sorry, your feelings don’t matter.

The pushing of trans on children serves to give adults justification for their mental illness or preening for their wokeness. It also sterilizes the children. Think of all the lame excuses the Nazis (got to say that) used when they could have used Modern Democrat terminology (MDT for DEI). Mengele would be impressed.

The eradication of all gender based differences is the ultimate goal of the radical feminists the LGBT and trans movements

How nice, however, the NC Senate and House have veto proof majorities so her unhinged thoughts are amusing but irrelevant.
