NASA Embraces DEI Policies, Appoints ‘Diversity Ambassador’
“Now more than ever, NASA is leading all of humanity on an unprecedented journey of discovery, exploration and innovation. To be successful in our missions, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility must continue to be at the forefront.”
NASA now has diversity administrators. What began with colleges and universities, then spread into government, the military, and even corporate America, is now in space exploration.
NASA has appointed a ‘diversity ambassador’ and an associate to work with him.
Sustainability Mag reports:
NASA appoints new leaders to head its commitment to DEI
Promoting diversity, equity, inclusions, and accessibility, NASA appoints a new DEI lead and administrator to manage its commitment to the ‘S’ in ESG
The organisation leading several major innovation projects with echoing effects across the globe, NASA is a critical organisation for research and development, and creating a better understanding of the world around us.
From research in energy and water consumption to the development of technology to reduce our impacts on the environment—an emissions reduction effort, NASA is working tirelessly behind the scenes to inform industries.
However, to complete the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) conversation, the organisation is also focusing on the ‘S’, making changes to meet the needs of a diverse workforce.
Leaders at NASA recently appointed new leaders for diversity, equity, and inclusion. On March 27th 2023, Steve Shih was named the space agency’s first Diversity Ambassador, and Elaine Ho was appointed to work alongside him as the next associate administrator for the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity at its HQ.
NASA’s Administrator Bill Nelson says:
“Now more than ever, NASA is leading all of humanity on an unprecedented journey of discovery, exploration and innovation. To be successful in our missions, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility must continue to be at the forefront.
“Steve and Elaine’s leadership will help NASA continue to ensure our workforce reflects all of America and to inspire partners throughout our nation—for the benefit of all humanity.”
Karen Townsend of Hot Air reminds us that NASA has been headed in this direction for years:
NASA defines diversity on its website as the “entire universe of differences and similarities.” It defines inclusion as “the full participation, belonging, and contribution of organizations and individuals.” The dirty little secret is that NASA has been quietly checking identity boxes for years. It is a regular occurrence for a flight crew to be announced and for the announcement to note a “first”, whether it is a crew member’s gender, sexual identity, or ethnic background. Going deeper into the woke ideology demands of DEI is unnecessary and redundant.
Townsend also points to this recent post from a NASA related account on Twitter and notes that they have limited who can comment.
The diversity of our NASA team is what brings different perspectives to our missions, and we celebrate and share their stories. To protect our people from personal attacks, we have decided to limit comments on these posts.

Many of the people pushing the ideology behind DEI policies don’t do well with criticism. Maybe sending them off into space isn’t such a bad idea.
Donations tax deductible
to the full extent allowed by law.
The last people I want in charge of First Contact are those whose first question will be
what end of the egg the alien breaks firstwhat the alien’s pronouns are.
Yeah. Mars Attacks was supposed to be a parody not a playbook.
I suspect we will be planting a “pride” flag on Mars…unless Elon gets there first!
NASA won’t even make it to the moon again; Artemis is a vendor driven jobs program, not a real mission.
“Doc” Smith’s Lyranian Matriarchs had the right idea. EVERYONE’s pronoun was “it!”
How refreshingly novel for the Biden Admin./s
And this so why Musk will be Americas Space Champion
NASA is unfortunately fading away
The StarShip launch is imminent. Their resent test static firing of 30 of its 33 engines made it the most powerful rocket ever. Here is hoping it makes it. The Falcon 9 launches are amazing. Most businesses actually want their product on a USED Falcon… so dependable. NASA’a Artimis is a Saturn V rehash with SRBs. NASA whent looking for Muslim and now Trans… NOT a good mixture … sort of like hypergolic rocker fuel.
They missed the point of hidden figures. You want the best no matter what they look like. You are unlikely to get those people if you make it easier for some than for others to get the job. It doesn’t matter what you motives are or how good it makes feel about yourself.
Look for crashing space ships.
Parts diversity and lowering standards can do that.
They won’t make it that far
They know what they need to do, to keep their funding. Somebody is demanding all kinds of agencies spend all kinds of money for this dreck.
“Many of the people pushing the ideology behind DEI policies don’t do well with criticism.” — Not only that, preoccupation with these policies chews up both time and focus. I remember when the search for people also included fairly stringent character requirements — focus, stability, geniality. I wonder what got sacrificed.
Houston we have a problem! Will any of these diversity hires be able to do long-form calculus when there’s another Apollo 13 Incident?
NASA should only be doing merit-based hiring for that reason alone. It literally is a life or death decision if they’re not hiring someone who can actually do the job.
To be successful in our missions, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility must continue to be at the forefront. We don’t care if none of our rockets ever get off the ground — we have diversity. So shut up, fascist
I can think of another company that manufactures “serious stuff” and thanks to its commitment to DEI and pronouns as opposed to the actual business they are in, the Chinese most probably have full access to a lot of stuff. If they don’t / can’t then we are seriously over-estimating the Chinese.
The rot that exists in places that are supposed to be impermeable is astounding. I’ve said all I can w/out saying it. If the enemy were competent we would be screwed. Ayn Rand was under-telling the story.
Well, I can tell you that academia is crawling with Chinese spies, um, I mean, grad students and postdocs, so be wary of their competence…
Another concrete indication that NASA is hugely overfunded.
Do NASA’s civilian competitors waste money on such tripe? I think not. Let’s ask Elon Musk.
I would not want to be flying anywhere on a rocket designed and built by woketards. They will get people killed.
This will certainly lead to diversity in IQ.
DIEversity. Deny your dignity, deny your agency, deny your conscience, and you will no longer be human… that’s one small step for man, one liberal progression for transhumanity.
Another party Commisar.
“Promoting diversity, equity, inclusions, and accessibility, NASA appoints a new DEI lead and administrator to manage its commitment to the ‘S’ in ESG”
It’s not bad enough they’re genuflecting to DEI (or more appropriately, DIE since the program is in no way “of God”), they have to drag in another evil concoction, ESG, to sabotage the program. It almost seems they want it to fail.
Your tax dollars at work.
And most people thought the entire idea of a Space Force was humourous.
Because President Trump, wisely, was instrumental to its formation
I’m so tired of these people, I don’t know why they are given the time of day, especially The View, dear God, why do reasonable people pay any attention and put them on their blogs.
All the media is corrupt
“To be successful in our missions, DEI must continue to be at..the forefront. ”
Huh…here I thought it took brains to be in NASA. I didn’t know all I had to do was take a shot that might kill me and tik some quota boxes.
