Author Judy Blume Caves to Activists, Apologizes for Supporting J.K. Rowling

Blume committed a cardinal sin by supporting, but not saying she agrees with, Rowling.

Author Judy Blume groveled to the trans activists and apologized on Twitter after telling The Sunday Times she 100% supports J.K. Rowling.

The Sunday Times interviewed Blume because of the movie adaptation of her book Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

Other well-known books Blume wrote are Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Super Fudge.

Trans activists have been trying to cancel Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, for supporting keeping biological men out of female spaces and sports.

Blume said:

I [article author Hadley Freeman] tell Blume how strangely thrilling it is to see a movie about children where none of them are in possession of magical powers. “Yes, children are so used to superheroes now, aren’t they?” she says. Even in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books the kids are magic, and I love those, I say.

“And I love her,” Blume immediately interjects. “I am behind her 100 per cent as I watch from afar.” Blume is referring to the abuse Rowling has received for speaking up in defence of women’s sex-based rights, and given that Blume has faced repeated attacks since the 1980s, for her books’ descriptions of adolescent sexuality and puberty, she knows what it’s like to be pilloried as an author.

Has she reached out to Rowling? “No, no. I met her very early on in her Harry Potter career, and she said to me, ‘Oh, my sister and I used to read all your books,’ and she talked about Deenie. I think once or twice we sent each other little notes. But I haven’t been in touch with her during this tough time. Probably I should.”

Language is hard. Supporting someone doesn’t mean they agree with what the person says or stands on a subject.

But Blume is screwed now. The hate poured out, and she apologized to the rabid activists.

Little does she know it won’t help.

It’s sad to see one of my favorite authors when I was growing up being so leftist. I loved all those books by her, even if people have deemed them “controversial.”

Just the other day I mumbled to no one in particular that the world just didn’t seem to have enough Profiles in Putty. And then,

“Judy Blume groveled to the trans activists and apologized on Twitter”

It’s relevant to remind people that JK Rowling has vocally supported LITERALLY EVERYTHING that the far left wants to do, EXCEPT the trans lunacy.

That’s all it takes. You can be absolute full-on leftist, but refuse just ONE THING, and you’re an insane far right cancelled TERFBITCH.

I’m getting sick of “opinions” being forced and demanded especially when they don’t have any thought or reasoning behind them. Never mind science and facts, “you must say what we tell you!!”. For an author to fall prey to this mindless demand for compliance, and especially one that has many decades of experience, is unforgivable in my book.

Her reposting of the Variety interview proves my point. She’s willing to bend and offer the “accepted” opinion without ever putting thought into the physiology, biology, or psychology of the matter.

well theres a name nobody has thought of since the 1970s and is suddenly trying to be pertinent.

Who the hell is Judy Blume?

The movement left requires ideological purity. Any hint of impurity is the thing that just might bring the whole lefty world crashing down. Kind of like early Christianity let loose in the Roman Empire or the notion of individual freedom let loose in a communist dictatorship or free speech becoming popular on college campus..

meh. I purged her books from my homeschool library about 3 years ago when we moved. I decided that the values in her books are not what I wanted my children reading and internalizing. I have over 2000 books and so shelf space is at a premium. Judy Blume had no:
academic value (not history, science, high grammar/prose value)
familial value (parents are alienated from the children, siblings are mean to each other)
spiritual value (God is not mentioned or is flippant [note: I read Are you There God when I was a kid, and it made no impression on me, other than the title])
entertainment value (the books were not even good for “junk food” reading like the Harry Potter books)

my homeschool library won’t make any difference to any publisher, since these days I buy used books when possible, and whenever I can, I make sure those books are hardbacks printed before 1960, so she doesn’t care about my money. But she was already cancelled in my house.

Sad when you have to worry about getting beat up by men dressed as women.

She’s 85 freaking years old and a successful author of children’s books and she doesn’t have the ovaries to stand up for what is right

Dang

Idiot

There’s no point in apologizing. The Stalinists will never forgive her. At this stage there really isn’t any additional cost to defying them; the price (such as it is) has already been paid.

The vile, goose-stepping tranny totalitarians, pathological narcissists, misogynists and terrorists, and, their Dumb-o-crat enablers and cheerleaders, will brook no dissent from their evil orthodoxies.

She’s writing a reprise of her old book with a slightly longer title.

Then Again Maybe I Won’t …. apologize to the clinically insane and perpetually outraged mob.

Well, as might have been anticipated…that didn’t take long.

Folded like a cheap suit. These days it’s not amazing when someone does this. It’s the ones who don’t and double down that are the rarity.

There’s a wonderful quote with problematic ownership that goes “Never argue with stupid people because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

It really dates back to Proverbs 26:4 “Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. The self-confident fool thinks too highly of himself and his opinions, and he shares them freely.”

In modern parlance, you can say “Don’t engage in a tweet war with a twit. Block ’em and move on.” The one thing the modern Leftist cannot stand is being ignored. You don’t *have* to address critics who are just there to cast shade on your stuff and get their own attention. In fact, any argument you use against them is as futile as playing chess against a pigeon, and if you dare to apologize…

She gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken her to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the ruby lipstick. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two wine-scented tears trickled down the sides of her nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. She had won the victory over herself.

She loved Big Brother.

Blume seems confused. If she 100% supports Rowling how does she wholly support the trans community which has been attacking Rowling for years, to include death threats, which in light of recent events seem a little more substantive and serious than previously.

Sorry, I never got the memo that I was supposed to think anything about Judy Bloom… BTW– Who is she?

Why bother apologizing? All they’ll do is treat it like a sign of weakness and attack harder.

Judy Blume was a radical feminist anti family and whose “books” were woke on a wide range of issues decades ago ..
