Wellesley College Students Vote to Admit Trans Men and Nonbinary Applicants

Wellesley College Students Vote to Admit Trans Men and Nonbinary Applicants

Wellesley College President says ballot question wouldn’t have any impact on the school’s policies or practices..which require applicants to identify and live as exclusively female.

Students at Wellesley College, an institution created to promote higher education for women, have voted in a nonbinding election to approve the admission of all nonbinary and transgender applicants.

Wellesley College proudly proclaims itself as a place for “women who will make a difference in the world.” It boasts a long line of celebrated alumnae, including Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright and Nora Ephron.

On Tuesday, its students supported a referendum that had polarized the campus and went straight to the heart of Wellesley’s identity as a women’s college.

The referendum, which was nonbinding, called for opening admission to all nonbinary and transgender applicants, including trans men. Currently, the college allows admission to anyone who lives and consistently identifies as a woman.
The referendum also called for making the college’s communications more gender inclusive — for example, using the word “students” or “alumni” instead of “women.”

A spokesperson for the institution said in an emailed statement that there are no plans to change the admissions policy due to the elections.

Wellesley College acknowledges the result of the non-binding student ballot initiative,” the spokesperson said. “Although there is no plan to revisit its mission as a women’s college or its admissions policy, the College will continue to engage all students, including transgender male and nonbinary students, in the important work of building an inclusive academic community where everyone feels they belong.”

The college president had no intention of changing the current policies; the vote was simply a chance for the students to express their thoughts on the subject.

Wellesley’s president, Paula Johnson, who opposes the referendum, warned students in a letter last week that the results of the ballot question wouldn’t have any impact on the school’s policies or practices.

Johnson said the ballot was instead a chance for students to “express their views” on the controversial issue.

“We are not a ‘historically women’s college,’ a term that only applies to women’s colleges that have made the decision to enroll men,” Johnson wrote. “We have chosen a different path, one that aligns with peer institutions including Barnard, Smith, and Bryn Mawr colleges.

“In accordance with our admission policy, Wellesley admits applicants who identify and live consistently as women, regardless of the gender they were assigned at birth,” she added.

Of course, the student newspaper’s editorial board penned an op-ed accusing the college of engaging in…. “transphobic rhetoric.”

In 2015, the college changed its admission policy to really stretch the definition of gender. The current policies rely a lot on self-identification. However, if you are a woman identifying as a man, you are currently out-of-luck.

Wellesley invites applications from all those who live as women and consistently identify as women and who are prepared for a rigorous academic environment that challenges them to achieve at their highest potential.

“Consistently” simply denotes a student’s commitment to her gender identity.

Are trans men eligible for admission?

No. Wellesley is deeply committed to our mission to educate women and the College is proud of its history of graduating women who demonstrate the value of women’s leadership. Wellesley does not accept applications from men. Those assigned female at birth who identify as men are not eligible for admission.

While all the trans-based rules are confusing, one thing is transparently clear: Wellesley College is a great choice for those students who want to learn woke ideology rather than anything that could be useful, marketable, or meaningful.

One final note: The price tag for this experience is almost $80,000 a year. For a small fraction of this, a young woman could get training for a trade and make a real living without debt or insanity.

A Twilight faith. A Pro-Choice ethical religion. A progressive liberal ideology. Once you exercise human rites, you can’t go back.

What ‘insanity’? This is a PLAN. Any ‘insanity’ is on the part of useful idiots who follow along.

Coming up in the headlines: rape epidemic comes to Wellesley.

Some institutions i am sad to see go under the leftist degradation but they were already long gone. i can not think of any conservative grad,

I attended a women’s college. It was the most amazing experience. I wish everyone could have a supportive education like that. A few years after graduation, I heard on the radio – 2000 miles away – that Wells had gone co-ed. My heart broke.
There were gay, bi, even trans while I was there. But it was still a women’s college, and there was that expectation.
I sorrow for what these young women do not know they are missing by buying into this.

At $80k per year, being a Wellesley-woke sure don’t come cheap!

More insanity from sports and women

I say fine let trans teams compete against themselves and all the sane schools pull their teams, money and support and form
New leagues

Have no understanding why women are putting up with this sh!t

Homosexuals, bisexuals? Homosexuals with simulated masculine attributes?

So the women’s school already admits men, and the controversy is over whether they should admit women.
I hear the calliopes from here.
And by the way, Wellesley, the term is ALUMNX.

Make sure to put condoms in all restrooms.

Apparently, all the best women start off as men.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Didn’t Herself, the non-breaker of so many ceilings, independent womyn-y drafter upon hubby into her co-presidency, The One With All The Credentials who got Trumped, go to Wellesley?

Wellesley, as in a Women’s college, as in: “We’re so equal and powerful we need our own exclusive space to be equal and powerful in.” She’s as good as any man. That they’ll let into Wellesley. As long as they present as a woman.

Was Hillary on the swim team, or did I forget about that, too?

Here’s the sign-up sheet for those willing to be raped in the numerous “ladies” rooms around the campus. All for the cause of “trans” rights,

So, if I intend to be completely irrational and make all decisions based on the emotional thrill derived from parroting woke bromides, I am welcome to apply?

You cannot adopt an insane premise and then expect sound outcomes.

In other news, stupid Communists admit trans men are not actually men.

They chose to support the Left in all things. Choices have consequences. Gooderer and harderer.

My oldest sister graduated from there.. I was.. maybe 13, and my mother was sooooooooooooo proud.. Back then women dressed for dinner and had to help serve… Pretty sure that HRC was a year ahead.

Times have changed..

One can ask the question of why there should be single gender institutions of higher education. The answer has been that some students do better in such environments. Wellesley has a long track record of providing a sound education on that basis.

Next one can ask what is it about a single gender institution that give it that benefit? The traditional answer is that it avoids the “distraction” of male students. If that is the real reason, then what impact will “nonbinary and transgender applicants” have as a distraction?

If you can make an argument that the educational environment will be improved, then why can’t the same argument be made for adding men?

Don’t focus upon the students excluded by the admissions policy of this “highly selective” college. Advocates should make an affirmative argument as to how the educational environment benefits.

College however says it’s not changing its admissions policy in this regard

Oh cmon, we all know what this is about. The girls just want more fornication options. And the freakier the better these days….it’s some kind of badge of honor for girls today to say that they will “love someone based on who they are not their parts”. I’ve seen girls that still always seem to end up with men say this disproportionately as a social fashion statement.

A huge step forward for that specious facility, hope that Smith College follows them, immediately behind.

regardless of the gender they were assigned at birth

LOL. “gender … assigned at birth”. That is one of the lamest euphemisms around, which is no easy feat, these days.

These people are completely insane retards and really have no business running free in any decent, civilized society. Wellesley should be walled in … and forgotten.

So certain men are better and more worthy of an 80,0000 women’s college education than actual women….so the scorecard according to the left is…. Women’s sports must be destroyed to accommodate men..,,women’s spaces must be eliminated to accommodate men and their feelings( and sexual fetishes)….women must step aside to allow men to take awards, honors and positions to accommodate men….women should be represented in ads, on the runway and on tv and in movies by men, innate biological traits exclusive to women can and will be denied and renamed to accommodate men and we should turn to men to find out and get it explained to us what being a woman actually is and feels like. What century are we living in….

God will not bless their relationship with transvestites and other abominations.

Wellesley is historically a women’s college.

Trans-men are women.

What’s the big deal?

Did you read the article……”trans men” ie women NOT allowed in…”trans women”ie men allowed in.
