Violent Antifa-Style Protest Shuts Down Pro-Life Student Meeting at Virginia Commonwealth University
“We will not be deterred. The Pro-Life Generation has come to expect these sort of things and we will be back to attempt what we tried to attempt this evening, a productive, peaceful conversation”
A meeting of a pro-life student group at Virginia Commonwealth University was shut down this week when it was invaded by far left protesters using violent, Antifa-style tactics.
In the video below, you can see that the pro-life students were having a peaceful meeting until the protests began and quickly got out of control. You can also see the pro-life students pleading with security to do something about it until the event is shut down.
In an ultimate twist of injustice, the pro-life students claim they were detained while the protesters were free to leave.
FOX News reports:
Violence follows after suspected Antifa members disrupt pro-life campus event: ‘Fascists’
Reported Antifa members stormed a pro-life meeting at Virginia Commonwealth University, shouting at pro-lifers and ultimately resulting in two arrests and the event getting shut down.
“We will not be deterred. The Pro-Life Generation has come to expect these sort of things and we will be back to attempt what we tried to attempt this evening, a productive, peaceful conversation,” Students for Life posted in a caption on an Instagram video showing the incident, which was provided to Fox News Digital.
Students for Life at VCU, an affiliate of the national pro-life organization, was set up to hold a meeting on Wednesday evening featuring discussion from the group’s president Kristan Hawkins and TPUSA contributor Isabel Brown.
But the event soon became unruly and devolved into protesters chanting, “Fascists go home” and “F— pro-life,” while holding signs in support of abortion.
The pro-life group is taking issue with how school police handled the matter, and asked on the group’s Instagram post: “When will law enforcement begin to take threats against pro-lifers seriously?”
“At first, we were taken from the room by campus and city police, and it seemed like it was for our protection, but as it went on, we realized that we were being detained and the protesters were free to go,” Hawkins told Fox News Digital of how the disruption played out.
At least 12 pro-lifers were detained for more than two hours, according to Students for Life, with Hawkings adding, “Police did not walk us to our cars, and we had to walk through some of the protesters to leave.”

We came to @VCU, a public university to speak about abortion and we were assaulted. VCU you should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this and shutting down any freedom of thought or speech at your university. pic.twitter.com/UCp4LpHNmS

Journalist Andy Ngo, who specializes in covering Antifa, adds this:
Yesterday on March 29 at Virginia Commonwealth University@VCU, far-left protesters violently shut down a pro-life student event featuring @KristanHawkins. The university suffers from a far-left extremism problem, with its 2021 student body president pic.twitter.com/fUquD0ilxX…

This is one of the main reasons that taxpayers should never agree to fund ‘free’ college. Half of the country is treated with open hostility on college campuses.
Hat tip to Jonathan Turley:
We have yet another cancelling of an event by students who will not allow opposing views to be heard. This disgraceful scene played out at VCU as pro-choice protesters stopped a pro-life event….https://t.co/zEpgYqYJhA

Amazing how the fascists call everyone else a fascist.
Standard tactic, accuse everyone else of what you’re guilty of
Democrat socialist SOP: psychological projection and an epic lack of self awareness.
I bet their definition of “fascist” is all screwed up as well.
More evidence of the American police state that Obama and Biden have ushered in. We see the “Brown Shirts” in action.
Isn’t “violent antifa style protest” wildly redundant?
Pantifa members are inherently bullies, who use fascist tactics while pretending to fight fascism.
Pro-Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
… pro-affordability, not shared responsibility (e.g. progressive prices)
… pro-dignity (i.e. diversity of individuals, minority of one)
… pro-agency (e.g. no mystery in sex and conception)
… pro-choice: to fuck or not to fuck, prevention, adoption, compassion
… pro-law: six weeks to baby meets granny in legal state
… pro-science (e.g. sex from conception)
… politically incongruent (e.g. civil unions for all consenting adults)
That;’s good. And extends, easily generalized to everydamnthing.
… pro-trans/neos (separable from trans/homos et al) where so-called “gender-affirming care” causes unpredictable, irreparable harm to the majority of subjects.
The harm is quite predictable
Maybe “Nazifa” would describe these people more accurately.
Antifa in the 1930’s was international socialism and the SA national socialists…. so your blend is appropriate. Those that cherish freedom will have to punch back above the weight of them… which is tough with tens of millions of bucks and the Feds behind them. Canning the top of the admin and working down is the only way to put an end to this. The mob has to FEAR reprisals and they don’t.
Soft diplomacy also works, where it works.
Force ( * – of a different kind) on force, where that’s what’s left. Hard rhetoric where that fits best. For sure, I enjoy calling they-don’t-know-they’re-Nazis by the label that fits. Their glitching is delightful.
“International socialism” reminded me of a soft way in, that works sometimes. If the conversation goes to “It’s not a movement,”, like in RE: Antifu-fu-fu… you can introduce “The Internationale.”
“The international socialist movement. Called themselves that. Also what they named their big conferences– not necessarily at Davos back then. Local, as in national Socialist parties were subordinate to the operation. They also planned supporting non-political operations from disinformation campaigns, to street violence and intimidation.”
“Bragged to each other about their successes, and published tactical manuals. There are handbooks — easy to find if you look.”
Depending on where they go, you can drop in other riffs.
— Improvising is fine, but it works better if you have crafted bits, with wording you’ve refined, and you’ve memorized the footnotes. Like prep for extemporaneous public speaking, or how stand up comics work.
— How to engage with them, and how far you can take them, depends with who you’re dealing with. Meet them how they think. Meet them where they are. Craft your interaction to move them a bit toward what you’d prefer.
Back to the Milgram experiment…. 65% turned the electoshock to lethal. 75% either lethal or threshold of lethal. That gives you 25% for “soft” diplomacy. As for the 75%, it takes a severe shock to their system to wake up. Usually that shock comes from being attacked from within. The Party abhors those to either side of the Line and those that do are outed and called “fascists”. Millions of people have been sent into oblivion under such doctrine. How do you appeal to someone when what appeals to them is destroying their fellow man and a proven system for one that has ALWAYS failed? This is human nature… it doesn’t do well with Conflict Resolution 101 when there is only one final solution. Insulated – inculcated — How to you appeal to their “better nature” when their nature is primeval? Emotions trump facts and logic. Hate and anger do not create cool headed thought.
Nice, saying it straight out — quite a few hate humanity. The destruction *is* the payoff. Also true that the shallow frisson of neener, neener, neener activism doesn’t hold up vs. other, deeper pleasures, that people have to grow into.
There’s a reason they work so hard to keep people undeveloped, besides the direct joy of stiffling them, I mean.
When they re-attempt this event, they need to have some volunteer security on hand.
Bullies, undeterred, will continue to bully, or put another way, why are conservatives such pussies?
Especially if they are the ones that get “detained.”
I hope that the duly elected governor of Virginia will order a full investigation into this. University admins and police who are unwilling to protect the constitutional rights of citizens should not be allowed to continue to work for the government.
This is absurd. It could be over in 2 weeks with expulsions…but instead the university heads see themselves a mini-maos in front of the red guard.
Some portion of those involved were not students, so expulsion would be sort of meaningless.
It would teach actual students their limitations.
“far left protesters”
They are not far left. They are Democrat party field operatives. Some R with some guts could bloody one of the Dem anarchists and then watch Dem pols go into high dudgeon over it.
… and what have we learned?
Seems like that “Campus Security” was auditioning for some of those 87,000 new IRS enforcer jobs.
For their sizzle reels, showing they have the right stuff.
Virginia has a very big election this year. The entire legislature is up, in new districts. This will be the ultimate test for Governor Youngkin – can he win a majority in both Houses?
This hecklers veto crap is going to have to be confronted by a determined administration. Likely that determination is going to need to be provided to the spineless univ admin by the State Legislature, Alumni threatening to withdraw funds.
Getting harder to legitimately argue that blue collar taxpayers must continue to subsidize the Universities with appeals about the importance of academic ideal when the Universities can’t provide the most basic ideal; free speech, open exchange of ideas and open debate.
Much like what is going on at Stanford? Enough Alumni and others put enough pressure on them that instead of trying to ignore it and sweep it under the rug they finally had to suspend that DEI lady and are going to have classes for the kids emphasizing their policy on free speech so there is no misunderstanding and then suspend or expel any who break it.
If Colleges and Universities would grow a spine and immediately has the disruptors arrested and all identified students immediately expelled this nonsense will go on.
People waving signs and yelling “Fascists Go Home” while acting like Fascists. I think the irony is lost on them.
Antifa = Fascism in Action……. Unfortunately, these students are smart enough or self-aware enough to realize it.
Woops, typo….. Unfortunately, these students aren’t smart enough or self-aware enough to realize it.
Looking at those pictures brings another issue to mind.
When are we as a society going to recognize that the covid excuse for wearing masks in violent protests is past its use by date? When are we going to admit the obvious fact that the masks are being employed specifically to allow them to commit their violence anonymously? When will we start enforcing laws regarding exactly that which have been on the books for many years?
Even California, possibly the most leftwing and pro-criminal of all states has a law regarding face masks used in that manner:
185 PC states that “it shall be unlawful for any person to wear any mask, false whiskers, or any personal disguise (whether complete or partial) for the purpose of [either] evading… in the commission of any public offense, [or] Concealment, flight, or escape, when charged with, arrested for, or convicted of, any public offense.”
