Trump Hires Jeb! Operative To Run NH Campaign (Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That)

Trump Hires Jeb! Operative To Run NH Campaign (Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That)

May the best candidate win. (Is that a hateful thing to say?)

If you have spent any time on Twitter or anti-DeSantis conspiracy websites, you will hear how Ron DeSantis is Jeb Bush reincarnated and is a puppet for the Bushes! and Karl Rove! (and the globalists, don’t forget the globalists)(and the three-fingered pudding eaters, don’t forget the pudding eaters).

Paul Ryan – who Trump publicly adored – pulls DeSantis’ strings, some say.

I’m so old that I remember (a couple months ago) when the claim was that DeSantis was secretly colluding with Kevin McCarthy, until Trump publicly endorsed and made calls for McCarthy’s Speaker bid, and somehow that nutjob conspiracy theory fell off the radar.

It’s one thing after another. Do you see how you are being manipulated? Wake up.

Some people think the path to victory is to divide the world into loyalists and haters, with no room for people who simply disagree. Disagreement is hate, just like on college campuses. Hey, maybe I’m onto something, the primaries that haven’t even really started yet, but already are turning into a college campus where words are violence and anyone who disagrees must be driven out. Good luck with that. Joe Biden is laughing all the way to the ice cream parlor.

But I digress.

The Bush thing has dominated the nutty swamps recently.

We don’t need no stinkin’ proof.

But seriously. What if “Bush” people were advising DeSantis? Would it be disqualifying?

If so, then DeSantis wouldn’t be the only one disqualified, so would Trump. Team Trump is doing what campaigns do, which is drawing on experienced talent, and Team Trump found that talent in a Jeb! operative. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Politico reports on Trump hiring a Jeb! operative to run Trump’s campaign in New Hampshire:

Donald Trump has tapped an operative to lead his 2024 efforts in New Hampshire. And for the role, he’s turned to a veteran of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential bid.

Trevor Naglieri will serve as Trump’s New Hampshire state director, according to two GOP operatives familiar with the move.

Naglieri was a field coordinator for Bush in 2016 and went on to serve as New Hampshire field director and then national field director for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). He most recently managed Pennsylvania Republican Jeremy Shaffer’s unsuccessful 2022 congressional bid. He also did stints at Republican consulting firm Axiom Strategies.

It’s okay. Really.

Rather than focusing on conspiracy theories on who is controlling whom, how about we focus on the candidates themselves, and what they have to offer, and who is most electable? And how about we acknowledge that people who love this country and want the best for it can disagree as to who the best candidate is, without demonizing people and calling them haters?

May the best candidate win. (Is that a hateful thing to say?)

You can’t cut taxes and raise the military budget while being the man saving social security-Program was already on schedule to become bankrupt in 2010, you can’t speed up the process and be the man saving it.

Him being the one delivering these attacks by the way makes it a lot harder to save social security.

Social security can be funded by the US becoming rich again. The formula is (per Regan and Trump): cut regulation, cut taxes and WIN wars.

The war in Ukraine was engineered by the swamp (by both democrat and republican sleaze running things). If Trump was president, the war would have never started. Now, imagine the billions pissed away in Ukraine (and likely making a u-turn to the very politicians so eager to spend it) going towards Social Security? And imagine the billions filling the Treasury in tax receipts if the economy was unleashed, instead of begins sabotaged?

We have no problems paying for anything. We only have problems with enemies within.

      CommoChief in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 29, 2023 at 6:15 pm

You want to put Social Security on budget and/or make annual transfers from regular taxes to fund Social Security? Doing that turns it into a welfare program revoking it’s current status as earned benefit based upon individual earnings and individual contributions.

Telemachus in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 7:00 pm

Chief – Fine can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he may have been suggesting that we could take some of the money spent in Ukraine and using it to replace some of the funds taken out of SSA over the years.

CommoChief in reply to Telemachus. | March 29, 2023 at 7:42 pm

All the money that goes into Social Security each year from SSI taxes, (-) current year Social Security payments to beneficiaries, is ‘taken out’ and loaned to the Treasury. Those loans (IOU) are eventually paid back into the Social Security trust fund. That is part of coming problem for the regular federal budget. The lack of excess funds from SSI to flow as an annual loan to supplement annual federal spending. That and increasing interest costs on a $31 Trillion federal debt (not including Social Security).

If the argument is that it would have been a better use of funds to send that $100 Billion and counting to the Social Security trust fund than to Ukraine then I agree. However, using normal taxes to pay into Social Security on a supplemental basis does change the nature of the program from an earned benefit to just another welfare program.

Yes, that is my argument. But a booming capitalist economy will dwarf the money pissed away in Ukraine graft. This isn’t a new idea. Again: Reagan did it, and Trump was on his way to doing it.

But the corrupt garbage running our nation doesn’t want to share the booty. Especially not the money they’re skimming from the billions going to Ukraine and making a u-turn.

Milhouse in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 8:45 pm

It’s already a welfare program. It’s been that way for longer than any of us have been working. There is no link between FICA taxes paid and any benefits we might one day receive. All money coming in from FICA goes to pay current recipients, and any excess goes into the general treasury. There is no “lock box”; it’s full of IOUs, not cash or investments. Those IOUs are drawn against the general treasury, which may or may not pay them. It doesn’t have to, since “we owe it to ourselves”. And there is no contractual obligation on the government to ever pay any of us even one cent. Congress can change or repeal the program as it feels like, and nobody can sue, as they could if there were a contractual obligation. Again, nobody now paying FICA taxes has ever been told otherwise by the government. Everyone now paying has been on notice from before they started that this was the case. So how is it not a regular welfare program?

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | March 29, 2023 at 8:58 pm

          Milhouse,

Shhussh You’re gonna upset the folks who still believe there is a box in DC in their name holding their individual SSI contributions which they will get back when they retire.

IMO it’s not quite a welfare program as there is a minimal period of work to qualify for the benefit. In that sense the nostalgic view of Social Security as an earned benefit still holds for then few years and then it definitely will not as reality intrudes very aggressively.

You are absolutely correct that there is ultimately no individual entitlement for a taxpayer to receive the amounts reflected on their annual notice of projected benefits when they reach the age of eligibility.

Gonna be some very PO people in a decade or so when, without reforms, the current system benefits are cut by 25% ish across the board.

GravityOpera in reply to CommoChief. | March 30, 2023 at 2:59 am

SOCIAL SECURITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELFARE
FISA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TAX NOT A CONTRIBUTION

Benefits are not and have never been earned. They are assigned based on arbitrary rules (which happen to reference taxes paid) that Congress can alter or abolish at any time. In fact the initial law explicitly includes the following statement: “SEC. 1104. The right to alter, amend, or repeal any provision of this Act is hereby reserved to the Congress.” and this was upheld by the Supreme Court.

I know I’m fighting a near-century’s worth of lies and it’s rare that anyone will listen, but someone has to shout the truth.

Gosport in reply to GravityOpera. | March 30, 2023 at 7:58 am

And, even lifelong contributors to SS aren’t entitled to receiving payments, if the Govt decides not to pay.

1960 Flemming v. Nestor. Landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling that affirmed that Congress has the power to amend and revise the schedule of benefits. The Court also ruled that recipients have no contractual right to receive payments.

CommoChief in reply to GravityOpera. | March 30, 2023 at 10:00 am

I knew that, you knew that and Milhouse and Gosport and likely more than a few other commenters knew it as well. Some didn’t and now they know as well.

There is some comfort in the nostalgic mythology of the ‘earned benefit’ argument that is still pervasive which is why some insist on clinging to that idea. In a decade or so without any changes that illusion will be shattered as cuts of 25% ish occur by necessity.

      1. The tax rate when Ronald Raegan cut them dwarfs todays tax rate and he regretted including the upper class in those tax cuts and tried to hit the undo button for that portion of his tax bill and failed in congress, so don’t cite him for why we need to eliminate taxation and adopt anarchy (which is what happens when a government can’t bring in the money to do it’s functions). We are in DEFICIT right now we can’t afford profligacy.

      2. What war are you talking about? I don’t want to go to war with China whoever starts losing will push the button to end humanity on planet Earth. Neither do I want to go to war with Russia. Our bipartisan militarism is as ugly as it is self-destructive.

      3. Some regulations are absurd some are 100% needed. I want regulations stopping big tech censorship which will eliminate dei jobs. I want regulation stopping blacklists and political discrimination that will also hurt hr departments. I want regulations stopping porn in school that will hurt porn book sales and so on and so forth. Empty rhetoric is empty today.

      4. When discussing social security if you are for eliminating the source of it’s funding, and blowing up the deficit with military spending and tax cuts so you can’t get funding from elsewhere you forfeit your right to claim anybody else is trying to destroy it. There just isn’t any way around that.

Ronald Raegan had solutions towards problems that existed in the 20th century. We no longer have a military super power threatening us, and taxes are already low. It is time to stop living in the past. If Ronald Raegan was alive today he would be the very first person to tell you that.

Congratulations by the way on adopting exactly the lefts line on SSA.

Paddy M in reply to Danny. | March 30, 2023 at 7:32 am

Yes, seriously. And I didn’t say anything about POTUS not being responsible. You just wanted to absolve your GOPe pals of any responsibility as usual.

Congress dithered on Trump’s (and the base’s) immigration demands and did nothing, Why didn’t your heroes, Mitch and Paul, save SSA by doing the same?

I didn’t adopt anything of the left’s by asking a simple question regarding your civic ignorance, Danny.

“And how about we acknowledge that people who love this country and want the best for it can disagree as to who the best candidate is, without demonizing people and calling them haters?”

A useful guideline for comment sections across the InterWebs®.

It’s the dirty money. DeSantis is swimming in it. And he has routinely declared his adulation for the Bush family and Karl Rove. He has been unapologetic about being Paul Ryan’s lapdog in the House.

Wait until Trump starts releasing those campaign adds. DeSantis is a disloyal, polymorphic sociopath whose ambition for power and (especially) fortune makes him a perfect patsy for the Deep State. He has become whatever “the money” wants him to be since the day he entered politics. Another career career politician with no resume other than the usual CIA-approved background, Harvard education and brief military background. That’s it. That is where you are risking getting your feelings hurt again.

Even his dirty money is considering having him pull out and save him for 2028 lest he gets damaged beyond repair running in 2024.

Emotional rationalization is no substitute for cold analysis and for properly connecting the dots. Sheltering yourself in an echo chamber doesn’t help either. There is a very big conversation going on outside of the GOPe “big tent” and you need to be part of it if your are going to understand what is going on. Trump is THE existential threat to the global cabal that is rolling out the same plan in every country in the EU and North America. Trump is global. DeSantis is mainly Florida plus the Bush/Rove machine and dirty money.

There isn’t a single thing there that isn’t a lie.

By the way nobody outside of a tiny clique of Trump worshippers like yourself gives a dam about Bush or Rove today. You are literally living in 2004.

This country and world has long moved on.

Could list out which specific donors are so objectionable that if these individuals contribute to a politician that the taint is irredeemable? Just the top ten most offensive donors is plenty to start with. Of course if these donors show up as having donated to other politicians then that donation would also irredeemably taint those politicians as well.

Name DeSantis’ advisors. Name his brand management team. You can’t. Know why? Because DeSantis has not officially declared his candidacy so he does not officially have a campaign staff. But on the other hand, he took $2-3 million book advance from Rupert Murdoch who then financed his “book tour” as he campaigned at police events. And then he did his tour of CA begging for money from the usual billionaires. Can you name them? Of course not. That only comes out later when all the paperwork is filed and becomes available to the public. DeSantis is being cute with the FL law that forces governors to resign if they decide to run for higher office.

DeSantis’ donors and top Republican senators are getting frustrated with DeSantis, especially with his many recent unforced errors. His first big one was when Tucker Carlson issued several questions to people who are running or have voiced an interest in running. The answers but everyone but Trump and DeSantis were pure rubbish. Where DeSantis failed was with the Ukraine support question where he gave an answer that would reflect Trump’s well-known position but fell far short of being adequate, Trump was very specific in explaining his position. DeSantis simply dismissed as a low-priority territorial dispute. Even his supporters hammered him for that.

Then there was the Manhattan DA Bragg and arresting Trump issue where he kept silent rather than seize the moment. According to Fuzzy, the reason he waited to speak out was because he is a thoughtful, deliberate man who takes his time to gather all of the facts and give a carefully considered response. So! After 4-5 days, the best he could do was to offer an utterly sanctimonious and disingenuous cheap shot about not wanting to get involved in a dispute about a man, a porn actress and some hush money? Is he stupid? It was his big moment to be a statesman by harping on the issue of weaponizing the DOJ and DAs to go after political opponents. Of all of his misteps, THAT is the one that took all of the wind out of his donors’ sails.

There’s more! His interview with Piers Morgan where he was asked point blank “Are you really a Trump clone?” Simple but loaded question that cut right to the problem with DeSantis. He is running shadow campaign as “Trump without the baggage” and waiting for Trump to first declare his positions before voicing his own. But he can’t admit that because that would be a sanctimonious, holier-than-thou position to take. So instead, he mumbles about issues where he differs with Trump. In other words, he just isn’t good at this game and is not even close to being ready for the big battle ahead. Hence, the big money wants to save him for 2028 rather than having him horribly scarred in a losing cause. They didn’t get to be billionaires by throwing money away. So they sit this election out.

Okay, so let’s talk about that “Bush” operative. How is that different from taking on Paul Manafort to secure the Iowa strawpoll vote? Manafort has been a specialist on nailing down votes in a process where voters are hammered relentlessly in trying to get them to change their votes. Manafort was the Republican “go to guy” for this. Was he a Trump operative? Sure, this time but will the next candidate who hires him hire him as a Bush operative? Or Trump operative? NO! He was a REPUBLICAN operative brought in to handle a special situation he has proven very effective in handling.

So Trump hires another REPUBLICAN operative to help him handle New Hampshire. Who cares if he did the same thing for Bush or McCain or Romney.Trump hires HIM for the same purpose because the guy knows who’s who and how to work New Hampshire. That’s the way it works.

This may be the Professor’s website but he doesn’t get to declare who is lying and who is telling the truth. There are a few whoppers on this post for anyone looking for them. The point is that politics is about lying and it is a very, very dirty business. The dirtiest part is the money.

No one is paying Trump. With his own entire wealth and personal empire at risk, no one can seriously question his honesty about why he is doing this. DeSantis? He is for sale. Major donors (especially) don’t give candidates money just because they hope a candidate wins. Hell no! They give to the guy who can be controlled and who is likely to win. There’s your DeSantis. It’s not complicated. Even being in debt to Trump for campaigning for him in three elections, the very factor that determined his winning, DeSantis jumps for the money instead of getting behind Trump? Okay! So what was the question again? This is your “best man who should win”

And that brings me to my final point about the need to be good milquetoasts. “Let’s all get along and let the best man win.” Yeash. Grow up already! This is politics! Has anyone here actually been directly involved in politics? It’s an extreme, bare-knuckle business. The bitterness never, ever goes away despite some being able to mask it (Reagan being cheated out of the nomination in 1976 and then Bush being bitter after losing to Reagan in 1980 e.g.).

If your guy isn’t up to the fight, he shouldn’t run. If YOU guys can’t handle the rough and tumble of political campaigns, I recommend you volunteer and get involved and get an education. Nobody here has the exclusive right to condescend to nor insult anyone else so don’t start. I can and will play that game if people insist.

The truth is I don’t believe LI can handle a discussion about presidential politics. Too much effort in making sure “facts” are only limited to what the RNC approves. We don’t live in a two party system. It’s a Uniparty system. And how we vote in 2024 has existential global implications. It is almost certainly our last chance to get it right and bringing in the latest RNC favorite would be just repeating the same mistake that got us where we are in the first place. We are trying to END the one-party system, not make our peace with it.

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 29, 2023 at 6:50 pm

        Phil,

Does that mean you are unwilling to list out the problematic donors so the rest of us can see if other politicians have received donations from the problematic donors and make a decision for ourselves?

          txvet2 in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 7:24 pm

He probably can’t or won’t, because too many will be traced back to Trump.

healthguyfsu in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 7:45 pm

That is exactly what that means.

tl;dr Master Trump is not accountable to anyone in Trumplandia

I completely reject the premise of your question. Let me lay it out for you in the simplest and clearest way. Here is a list of candidates who have declared or are expected to declare:

Trump DeSantis Ramaswamy Haley Pence Pompeo Scott Youngkin Noem Hutchinson Cheney Bolton Sununu

Do you really believe the GOPe Bush/Rove money machine is going to be involved in 2024? Of course! So let’s go on.

Take out those who have zero chance no matter how much money that raise. Bolton, Sununu, Cheney, Hutchinson, Scott, Ramaswamy, Noem, Haley, Pompeo and Pence.

So who does the Bush/Rove money machine support? Trump? Of course not. So take his name down leaving us only two names: DeSantis and Youngkin. Youngkin has not shown any interest in running and it is too late to start so we eliminate him too.

I am not a lawyer preparing a case for court. I don’t need signed contracts or public statements or anything else, just common sense and logic.By eliminating the least likely possibilities we are quickly down to Trump or DeSantis. What other conclusion is there other than the Bush/Rove money machine is already deeply involved and it’s not with Trump.?So I’ll bet the farm on DeSantis. You? Who do you pick and how much are you willing to bet? Would you now like to reconsider the premise of your question?

Keep in mind that DeSantis has the impossible task of proving that he is Trump without the baggage but cannot say it and also that any linkage between he and the Bush/Rove dirty money machine is fatal. And as I laid out for you, how can he NOT be the Bush/Rove candidate?

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 8:27 pm

          txvet2/healthguyfsu,

It’s incredibly cynical to suggest that Phil would launch an eleven paragraph diatribe instead of directly responding to a request for more information just to change the subject./s

The more prominent Trump surrogates among the commenters here at LI don’t seem to want to answer questions which will likely end up hurting their cause. That is absolutely a fact, not sarcasm.

As I don’t have a dog in the fight yet, including prominent undeclared candidates, I feel no special pressure nor obligation to act as anyone’s campaign surrogate. I will continue to ask questions from the surrogates here and will continue to defend each candidate or potential candidate when I feel them to be attacked unfairly, just as I have been doing for months on end.

Gonna be a fun primary season once it really kicks off later this summer and all the ‘pre game’ posturing is concluded. Then we get to see head to head polls of the entire field, view their fundraising totals (and donors), see what things they emphasize or issues they downplay on the trail.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 8:31 pm

          Phil,

I see you added two more post scripts as I composed my own post neither of which answer the question of which donors are problematic.

Either the donors themselves are a problem b/c they are going to ask for a quid pro quo and that makes any candidate or potential candidate subject to more scrutiny or it doesn’t.

          CC,

Not a Trump “surrogate” here. In fairness, it may also be the case that you may not like the answer provided. That seems almost a given. Too much inside baseball. Fortunately, the real season begins tomorrow.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | March 29, 2023 at 10:17 pm

          26,

That diatribe wasn’t a responsive answer to a direct request to simply name these problematic donors. Recall that Phil led off the original post by claiming the donations were ‘dirty money’ and that ‘DeSantis was swimming in it’. Surely someone making such an accusation would expect and be prepared to answer such a basic question.

When directly asked who was providing this ‘dirty money’ we get a diatribe but no list of donors who are providing the ‘dirty money’. It seems fair to infer that if these donors are handing out ‘dirty money’ then every other politician who took their ‘dirty money’ is also ‘swimming in it’ and therefore equally irredeemably tainted.

Nice try though in attempting to reframe the discussion away from the lack of any substantive answer to the very basic question. Didn’t work but + 1 for trying,

          CC,

Each person is free to make their own “frame.” Has yours been hindered in any way?

It’s a fact of life. It happens all the time. People do not like the answer. But it is an answer. More problematic are declarations of “absolute truth” when a response is unaccepted. The funniest part is when someone actually claims to have won. That happens all the time, too. Also problematic is the generalization applied to a group based on interaction with one person. It’s really that simple, so likely the last word from this end on this matter.

@CommoChief: 8:31pm That’s what I am saying. And no one here can say who is giving money because it hasn’t been allocated yet because DeSantis hasn’t formally declared. But we’ve already learned (weeks ago) that billionaire Ken Griffith donated millions into a PAC fund for that specific fund so…

This will be a game of “six degrees from Kevin Bacon” until the actual facts catch up to activity. These things don’t get disclosed in real time. It takes research to tie the donors to the recipients.

In the meantime, how much common sense does it take to figure out who would be giving to whom? These big donors are looking for control of a candidate who can win and whose name isn’t Donald Trump. Start there and then do what I just described. Who is running and who might run? Go through the list. How obvious does it have to be?

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | March 30, 2023 at 10:18 am

          Phil,

Ok Ken Griffin. Thanks. Didn’t he back Trump in 2016 though? If his money is ‘dirty’ now why wasn’t it ‘dirty’ then? It couldn’t simply be the change in candidate Griffin is backing.

Were you aware that Trump himself didn’t donate one dime to his 2020 re-election campaign or that about 130 billionaire donors showered his 2020 re-election campaign with campaign contributions. There’s a nice write up on Forbes from spring of ’21 laying this out.

Every one of these big donors wants something from the candidate who’s campaign they send money to. No candidate is immune from donor expectations.

Um, hello? It was Trump who wrote a gloating Tweet in 2016, thanking Paul Ryan for his endorsement. You said, “And he has routinely declared his adulation for the Bush family and Karl Rove. ” Huh? DeSantis is not prone to hyperbole or acting in ways that show adulation. He’s very measured and controlled and disciplined. Sounds to me like you’re making things up.

DeSantis has proven himself to be a GREAT conservative governor. Trump has proven himself to be a GREAT president.

I don’t think anyone in American history comes close to Donald Trump in the area of foreign relations. No one. His record is surreal, and he has shown almost all his predecessors to be clownish and/or utterly corrupt. In the case of Hillary Clinton: both.

Ron would be a great president. But Trump is a miracle-man. At this point, we need miracles because we’re about to lose our nation.

Get real, Phil. Dirty money? Please stop. Trump is pissed. He got word his large GOP donors, mostly hedge fund guys, favor DeSantis, not him. After all, the big-money guys donated to Trump in 2016 & 2020 but are picking a new horse not named Donald.

They’re picking a new horse named “swamp”. Donald Trump is the canary in the coal mine.

Okay, I’ll redirect the challenge many are throwing at me back to you. Who are these big donors? You guys want to be lawyers about this so show me the names and receipts. This is how you guys always seem to manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Small mindedness trapped in mind games and tricky logic.

Stand back so you can see the elephant in front of you. Figuring this out doesn’t require a Phd and microscope.

Kenneth Griffin, a good man who worked hard for his money and has dedicated himself to fighting woke ideology following his family being bullied by woke teachers

        https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-gop-megadonor-indicates-war-on-woke-ideology-in-schools-backs-desantis-for-president

The DeSantis donors are good people and I am not impressed by adopting borderline bolshevism but I can’t emphasize enough how disgusted I am by it completely and utterly disgusted.

Ghostrider in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 29, 2023 at 10:50 pm

Here is Griffin’s Wikipedia page. Be sure to read his political contributions section that’s cited. Griffin gave money to DeSantis, but he has also donated to Trump.

Gosport in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 30, 2023 at 5:09 am

Why redirect the challenge instead of just answering the question?

It seems a simple question. Given how many times that claim has been made on this blog there must be abundant evidence to support it.

Just name the problematic donors to DeSantis. Of course posting the list makes the claim more open to being debated and/or debunked, but that’s what blogs are for right?

          txvet2 in reply to Gosport. | March 30, 2023 at 11:13 am

He just reads this on one of the whacko pro-Trump websites and repeats it here, just as a couple of others do. They don’t have anything to back it up, because they don’t do any basic (real) research. He’s been playing the same anti-Republican games for literally decades.

healthguyfsu in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 30, 2023 at 12:15 pm

Phil, you’re the one that brought up the big dirty donor issue…it is on you to answer that question, not anyone else.

That’s why you were directed to it, but you’ve probably forgotten you’re own repetitive ramblings on the topic.

We don’t have a problem with donors…you do.

DeSantis has a substantial lead over Trump according to the latest poll in Iowa. Why is this important? Because Iowa is the first in the nation Republican Party Caucus. And because Trump won Iowa in the last election. Now Iowa Republicans are turning strongly against Trump. Iowa used to be a purple state. Now it is strongly red. thanks to tremendously hard work electing conservative electable candidates. This is my home state. The Republicans control the governorship, both houses of the Iowa Legislature, every single member of the Iowa Supreme Court, both of our U.S. Senators, all of our U.S. Congressmen, and every elected state official but for the auditor. This has been an amazing turnaround, and I am fortunate to have witnessed it firsthand. I understand that the Trump campaign can see he is losing, and therefor has to turn to the RINO, GOPe, globalist, elite, deep state, etc. people for support. But this is not going to help his base, which is shrinking.

I think you are suffering from Jeb Derangement Syndrome. You are also equating your bad dreams with reality. Why not take a break from commenting for a while and maybe you’ll feel better?

Unlike Jeb! Maybe this Naglieri fellow is more ‘lifelike’.

thad_the_man | March 29, 2023 at 4:21 pm

At first I liked DeSantis, but after a while it started to seem he was propped up. It seemed like he’s the White Knight who reveals himself to be Harvey Two-Face.

Then Jeb! virtually endorsed him. That really raised flags.

The Fuzzy Slippers rabid Rongasms really raised flags, because Fuzzy is very good at not sniffing out “establishment” candidates.

The latest.

About two months ago, DeSantis: We shouldn’t be spending money on Ukraine.

Ron DeSantis; We have to support Ukraine at all costs.
( This is the establishment stance. )

Enough said.

I only trust three “politicians”: Donald Trump, Ron Paul, and Senator Kennedy.

DeSantis has done miracles in Florida. But foreign policy is another craft. So why was Trump so brilliant at it? – He had massive amounts of experience dealing with foreign governments during his business dealings. He was a natural to begin with, but he brought experience.

DeSantis is a hero, but he has a lot to learn, and he could have learned it from Trump instead of a pathetic one-hit wonder like Karl Rove – who also personifies the Peter Principle.

      Mercyneal in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 29, 2023 at 5:17 pm

Trump’s *bone spurs kept him out of being drafted. DeSantis VOLUNTEERED to go into the military after Harvard Law School. He was an embedded JAG attorney with the Navy Seals in Iraq and won a bronze star… Also, sport, may I remind you that Obama was a community organizer with less than two years in the Senate when he declared

DeSantis is much, much smarter than Trump. He is also far more disciplined in words and not prone to bizarre childish uncontrolled rants. Trump has far more to learn, but won’t and can’t and is too old

      DeSantis 2024

I have nothing bad to say about DeSantis, only great things to say. Whether Trump dodged the draft is irrelevant: he did more to empower the US military than any president since Reagan.

Trump and DeSantis need to be a team. I can understand Trump’s resentment with the way DeSantis is going about running against him.

Donald Trump is not a man to cross – which is why he was one of the handful of greatest American presidents. What is good for Donald Trump is apparently very good for our country.

          Mercyneal in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 29, 2023 at 6:01 pm

His dodging the draft is relevant; just as DeSantis volunteering for the military is as well. EVERYTHING in a candidate’s background is relevant. Just because you decree Trump avoiding the draft is not relevant doesn’t mean it isn’t.

          CommoChief in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 29, 2023 at 10:50 pm

There are those who answer the Nation’s call to service and those who …don’t. The difference between the two is absolutely relevant when considering someone for elevation to an office of Public Trust.

Personally I don’t consider it the most important criteria but definitely assign more points to those who decided to serve during time of war, including those who never saw combat or those who couldn’t serve in uniform but chose to deploy as a non combatant volunteer in another capacity.

Unless you’ve deployed you can’t really understand how much the civilian volunteers at the forward USO sites in theater meant. Not just them but also the various folks in other departments/agencies. When Dept of agriculture wouldn’t fill the tasking for personnel the DoD tasked National Guardsmen with appropriate civilian skills and deployed them to do the job the Dept of agriculture was supposed to be doing.

That’s just one example there are plenty of others. Lots of opportunities existed over the two decade long GWOT for anyone with any civilian skill set to have chosen to do a tour in Iraq or Afghanistan in some capacity. Even if it was making coffee and handing out books in a USO tent.

Those volunteers were willing to sacrifice some time out of their ordinary lives when it counted. Others not so much and the difference should always be acknowledged and never described as immaterial. End of rant.

So far, DeSantis has shown no evidence that he is smarter than Trump. That is just hate-speak. Hate is blind.

I don’t think there are many people on Earth as smart as Donald Trump. I would argue he’s a genius. You may not like him personally, but no one can argue his astounding brain power. He’s proven it for 40 years.

I drop by occasionally to read what Professor Jacobson has to say. And to read the unhinged comments. Bottom line is that we need a candidate who can win the general election. Trump can’t. Period. Full stop. So kiss his behind all you want, but we need a winner, not a sore loser. Say it with me: we need a winner.

Miracles? Like raising the dead miracles?

I think we use hero and miracle a bit too often.

      He’s done good things there.

No. Guess what I checked news stories, and they seem to affirm that what he said is true.

As for the issue itself, Carlson seems to have revealed a great injustice. One fundamental to the principles of our country. TO oppose that is telling. Not to mention opposing transparency for no good reason.

If you look at Kennedy’s voting record, it doesn’t match up with his rhetoric. He pretty much always votes with the leadership.

Gosport in reply to Pasadena Phil. | March 30, 2023 at 1:09 pm

The GovTrack website has this to say about Sen John Kennedy:

Kennedy was among the Republican legislators who participated in the attempted coup. In the days leading up to January 6, 2021’s congressional certification of the election, Kennedy announced his intent to object to the inclusion of some states from the certification, which would have disenfranchised millions of voters and amplified lies, conspiracy theories, and preposterous legal theories about purported fraud. On January 6, 2021 in the hours after the violent insurrection at the Capitol, Kennedy voted to reject the state-certified election results of Arizona and/or Pennsylvania (states narrowly won by Democrats), which could have changed the outcome of the election.

Which sounds anything but “always voting with the leadership”.

Gosport in reply to gonzotx. | March 30, 2023 at 1:04 pm

I can’t find a link to Kennedy coming out against Carlson releasing the tapes. Can you provide one? I’m not saying he didn’t, just that I hadn’t seen it and when I did a search for it all I could find, on multiple sites, was this:

“I was here. It was not peaceful. It was an abomination,” added Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) “You’re entitled to believe what you want in America, but you can’t resort to violence to try to convince others of your point of view.”

Which doesn’t mention Carlson or the tapes at all.

    Mercyneal in reply to thad_the_man. | March 29, 2023 at 5:19 pm

DeSantis “propped up?” That’s a joke. Trump is so narcissistic and un-selfaware and threatened by the disciplined and ruthlessness of DeSantis’s steely reserve that ten days ago on Truth Social Trump suggested that Desantis was actually a gay groomer who had been with an underaged boy. I voted for Trump twice and knocked on doors for him in PA for six weeks in 2020 but will never ever vote for him again.

“…but will never ever vote for him again.” Are you going to really pull the lever for Biden or Harris?

inspectorudy in reply to Mercyneal. | March 30, 2023 at 3:47 pm

I agree and I think that if DeSantis does declare we will see Trump go to the depths of his sick personality to come up with new lies. Of all the sick things to suggest about a man with children whose wife just fought a battle with breast cancer. Expect more insults and expect more approval from about ten people on this site to OK all of them as being a tough guy.

    Gosport in reply to thad_the_man. | March 30, 2023 at 4:33 am

“Ron DeSantis; We have to support Ukraine at all costs”

Really? Do you have a reference for DeSantis saying that? Because I can’t find one.

Or is it just a wishful talking point?

CommoChief in reply to Gosport. | March 30, 2023 at 11:32 am

      Gosport,

You are absolutely correct. DeSantis didn’t say any such thing. The so called ‘walk back’ was DeSantis stating that he:
      1. Considers Putin a war criminal
      2. Believes Putin should be held accountable for those crimes
      3. Doesn’t believe the invasion of Ukraine by Russia was justified

None of those alter his previous stated position that:
      1. The conflict is a territorial dispute between Russia and Ukraine
      2. There are far more important issues facing the USA
      3. That the National security interests of the US are not threatened by Russia invading Ukraine

The false attacks on DeSantis about this are unsupported by the publicly available facts. It’s wish casting by some internet pied piper and some folks can’t resist the tune so they march along to folly.

Who knows, these guys all work for each other switch alliances, go back

All depends on whose paying them

I do know that people are reluctant to work for President Trump because they either lack courage to face the sh!t storm the globalist rain upon them and their families, or actual fear for their very lives

It makes it hard to select capable, honest people from the pool available

Maybe this guy is a plant. WTH do I know

The left and GOPe globalists are monsters and have no love for this Country, they are literally destroying AMerica from within.

when I think of the little angels murdered by the sick monstrous trans, who the left blames of course Christians , I don’t really care who help’s President Trump get back in the WH

I just want him in there

But I’m thinking God has probably had enough of us and vengeance will be his
Sooner than later…

And outside of my children and my grandchildren being safe from the wrath that’s coming, I’m just not that interested in BS

Certainly you had better than this today professor , you’re a good man.

Please move to the Conservative Tree House with the rest of the “I hate Ron DeSantis” and Trump “can-do-no-wrong and never-lies” cult. You will find true love there.

You’re mischaracterizing what gonzotx wrote. And you attacked him ad hominem and you blindly attacked Conservative Treehouse.

That said: state ONE SINGLE FALSE STORE Conservative Treehouse EVER printed. ONE.

      You won’t be able to.

Sundance is just about the most insightful and accurate source of how the inside game is played and who the players are. He suffers from the same problem people who provide factual information that go against the Deep State suffer: he gets picked apart by swarms of flies mischaracterizing little details about what he said to challenge his credibility. Like what Milhouse and other pedants like to do around here.

Sundance survives because he is so often the first to report big facts. He never gets attributed credit for being the source. Same with Mark Levin who never gets attribution for all of the work he does. Being too specific with facts may win in court and in the end for everywhere else but in politics, getting the narrative right and then being proven to be right in the end is the way to go. I focus on logic and common sense and when the information that we have makes sense, I form my narrative.

The dirty money is only available to those candidates who can make the case that they can beat Trump. And because pundits always equate money with votes, we are already left with Trump and DeSantis with Trump scoring big on small donations and DeSantis struggling with the middle and top donors. How hard is it to conclude that DeSantis is the establishment guy? And anyone who makes those kinds of logical arguments is called a liar around here?

That is why lies travel half way around the world before the truth gets its pants on. Lawyers and their slow, plodding procedures can’t win races because elections take place on a fixed date and the winner gets away with murder. Get the narrative right.

Yes. Well said. The Conservative Tree House is a Trump echo chamber. That is where gonzotx has made his home.

Spoken like Legal Insurrection commissar charged with maintaining the purity of the DeSantis echo chamber. Thanks for proving what I’ve been claiming.

I challenge you to name a SINGLE story posted on the Conservative Treehouse that was true.

        CommoChief in reply to TheFineReport.com. | March 30, 2023 at 1:56 pm

Coverage of the hurricane, it’s aftermath and reconstruction efforts where DeSantis was praised by CTH.

Look, CTH is kinda ‘out there’ but the guy has a handled on distribution systems / supply chain and the implications of them getting fouled up. The employment related posts are good as is the general economic coverage.

All in all of you overlook some of the more out there perspectives there is a lot of good information over there. The guy does have a messianic fervor about Trump whom he regards as indispensable.

He also has a habit of throwing stones at anyone who fails to kowtow to Trump which only harms the rest of the GoP. We have an entrenched two party system of voters and while there is a lot of uni party/DC establishment overlap at the top of both parties it is undeniable that allowing the d/prog unfettered control would accelerate the ruin of our Nation.

The picture selection is very telling

No bias there…

It would be helpful if DeSantis would clarify his position on Ukraine.

    A Third time?
    Is that the charm?

It would be helpful if Trump hadn’t gone on Truth Social ten days ago and suggested that DeSantis was a gay groomer who had been with an underaged boy. He is scared to death of the disciplined and far smarter DeSantis and every day it shows more and more.

Just so we don’t have double standards… how about Trump clarifying his position on Ukraine? Before the mud flies, I’m not “anti-Trump”. I am a realist that wants to see the plan.

Merely stating he would “fix the Ukraine war within 24 hours” or “and if I win, before I get into the office, I will have that war settled. 100%” isn’t getting it done. What’s the plan? How exactly does he intend to accomplish that miracle?

It’s like claiming, yet again, that he will “drain the swamp”. Well he had 4 years and it didn’t get done. So what’s the plan this time?

The last thing this country needs is another 4 years of turmoil with no lasting improvement. So knock off the braggadocio and start explaining your plans Mr Trump. Show us they are focused on fixing our future instead of getting you revenge for the past.

I would pull the lever for both of them in November without hesitation. I would hope everyone else here would too. Because both are a light years better than D-anybody or RINO-anybody.

And I have nothing bad to say about any of the commenters in here (except for the real left wing trolls) because you are all my allies in preserving liberty. Even when you say stuff I disagree with.

Dathurtz in reply to PrincetonAl. | March 29, 2023 at 5:05 pm

I dunno about that. Sounds too peaceful and cooperative. Can’t have that.

PrincetonAl in reply to Dathurtz. | March 29, 2023 at 6:50 pm

I don’t mind the debating, although I don’t agree with a lot of comments on both sides – I think too many people looking at the trees missing the forest when it comes to evaluating the candidates – as long as when the primary is done we get a candidate a lot better than McRomBushney and everyone gets out and votes.

Not that it will matter if we don’t chip in and help elect Supreme Court justices in Wisconsin and otherwise put the brakes on election baloney.

DeSantis isn’t running for Governor of Florida and he can’t count on m a Secretary of State keeping things honest for him.

He might want to start thinking about those issues if he is going to be serious about running.

Frank Hammond | March 29, 2023 at 5:09 pm

Trump has ZERO chance of winning New Hampshire – he divided the NH GOP with his back stabbing of General Bolduc in the 2022 Senate Race. No way will Bolduc supporters vote for Trumping 2024. They will stay home.

The real story should be why is Trump hiring somebody who has a recent history of running losing campaigns, I thought Trump only associated himself with winners.

First change the dude will make:

Trump!

Ghostrider in reply to MrE. | March 29, 2023 at 11:02 pm

The New York Jets have better odds of winning the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers than Trump has in winning the WH with Naglieri as his offensive coordinator.

I like both Trump and DeSantis. I also value Sundance but think he is over the top with his jihad against DeSantis. Of course, the only time Sundance has criticized Trump that I know of, was when he endorsed Mehmet Oz.

I wish Don and Ron could work together, maybe with Ron as VP, but that’s problematic. Trump is ~80 and could use a good wingman/co-pilot.

There’s a long way to go, let’s see how it plays out. Re Trump’s hires, DC is littered with his bad choices. And Herschel Walker for senator?? Also, Trump acts like it’s all about him. 340 million citizens must disagree.

CaptTee in reply to Tom Orrow. | March 30, 2023 at 9:08 pm

The President and VP can’t be from the same State.
Governor DeSantis can’t move out of Florida, politically.
