Iran’s Islamic Guard (IRGC) is working on plans to assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump and his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for the killing of top Iranian terror operative Qassem Soleimani in early 2020, a senior Iranian general told the state TV on Friday.
Amirali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Guards’ aerospace force, admitted that the Shia-Islamic regime is still plotting to murder former U.S. president for ordering the drone strike that killed Soleimani near Baghdad. “God willing, we are looking to kill Trump. Pompeo” and others connected to the U.S. strike, Hajizadeh said.
Soleimani, who was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of soldiers stationed in the Middle East, was planning further attacks on U.S. troops when he was eliminated. The U.S. Defense Department disclosed that the strike against Soleimani was a “decisive defensive action to protect U.S. personnel,” as he was “actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region.”

(…) Amirali Hajizadeh, the head of the Revolutionary Guards aerospace force, also spoke of Iran’s often repeated threat to avenge the U.S. killing of a top Iranian commander, saying “We are looking to kill (former U.S. President Donald) Trump.””God willing, we are looking to kill Trump. (Former Secretary of State Mike) Pompeo … and military commanders who issued the order (to kill Soleimani) should be killed,” Hajizadeh said in the television interview.
After Soleimani’s killing, the Iranian regime threatened to assassinate President Trump and Secretary Pompeo invoking Islamic law. “Trump must face ‘God’s ruling’ and suffer ‘qisas’, which is the Islamic term for retaliation in kind,” Al Jazeera reported citing Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi. “If Trump and Pompeo are not tried in a fair court for the criminal act of assassinating General Soleimani, Muslims will take our martyr’s revenge,” Raisi declared.
Besides threatening the life of a former U.S. president and senior officials, the IRGC commander also unveiled a long-range missile that can hit Israel. Reuters added:
Iran has developed a cruise missile with a range of 1,650 km (1,025 miles) a top Revolutionary Guards commander said on Friday, in a move likely to raise Western concerns after Russia’s use of Iranian drones in the Ukraine war.”Our cruise missile with a range of 1,650 km has been added to the missile arsenal of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Hajizadeh, told state TV.
Since President Joe Biden took office two years, Iran has advanced its long-range missile program and is on the cusp of building a nuclear bomb by enriching weapons-grade uranium.
