Study Launched to Investigate if White Paint is Racist

Study Launched to Investigate if White Paint is Racist

“Whiteness is one of today’s key societal and political concerns.”

It’s kind of hilarious that this study is being done in Norway, one of the whitest countries in the world.

Maureen Mullarkey writes at The Federalist:

Even White Paint Is Racist Now

The identity politics industry is on the qui vive to discover symptoms of racism unrecognized until now. Whiteness, a barrier to racial justice, is a malign condition to which “white” people are peculiarly susceptible. Hidden clues are everywhere. None are too absurd to go unexamined by race-stalkers in academia. Even white paint is suspect.

Are there racist implications to the many global uses of the chemical compound titanium dioxide (TiO2)? Has the pigment derived from it — titanium white — contributed to white supremacy? Is the universal prevalence of titanium white a signifier of oppressive Western ideology?

Whiteness studies are a gravy train for grant-seeking academics throughout a declining West. Since TiO2 and titanium white were developed by two Norwegian chemists in the 1910s, Norway is funding an audit of its own role in the spread of white privilege.

The Research Council of Norway has granted 12 million Norwegian Krone (about $1.2 million) to the University of Bergen to “investigate” the baneful “planetary consequences” of white paint. Entitled “How Norway Made the World Whiter (NorWhite),” the project states its claim on public funding: “Whiteness is one of today’s key societal and political concerns.”

An additional $288,000 from the Norwegian Artistic Research Program goes to Oslo National Academy of the Arts for a sister project: “The Materiality of White (MoW).” This postmodern grift ponders whiteness in the concrete, the solid stuff of it: “The aim of the project is to highlight TiO2’s materiality and ubiquity, and to contribute to critical thinking on the color white and its mineral origin.” MoW asks the decisive question: “Do we need our world to be more white?”

The answer was baked into the initial grant applications. This joint “theoretical and critical reflection” on TiO2 points in one direction: to the stigmatization of “white” people — of whatever ethnicity — by other means. The project is an accredited version of the ancient practice of branding. The “problem” of whiteness is academia’s variant of the mark of Cain, a stain on the flesh.

Comments

Did we not cover this previously? I distinctly remember commenting that we could serve equity 100% by replacing the titanium dioxide with the old lead, thereby making all our children equally stupid.

I am NOT enjoying living in what must be the silliest age mankind has known.

Aren’t we all getting fed up with the mantra of “systemic racism”? If certain people, and I say this irrespective of color, think there is systemic racism that can never be eliminated, they have two choices: 1) learn to live with it and stop whining; or 2) find another country where there is no systemic racism, and in that regard let me suggest to them a colony on some other planet.

“1) learn to live with it and stop whining”. EXACTLY.

Back when we had actual real live honest to goodness segregation and wide open racism, folks like Liontene (sp?) Price, Louis Armstrong, Chick Webb, Cab Calloway, and countless authors, artists, and just plain folks managed to make a living, often lucrative ones, and were known to many people, regardless of race.

As it stands now, I believe that if government-mandated integration and quotas and the like ended tomorrow, we’d have MORE segregation, MORE sundown laws, and MORE open racism than we do now. Why? Folks are sick to death of the whining, and in things like white-paint-beez-rayciss.

Light paint reflects heat better than dark paint. The sun does not care about your made-up grievances.

Local (Phoenix-area) whiners have my blessing to paint their houses and cars black.

There was a rumor going around about California’s legislature outlawing the sale of new cars if they were black. Harder to cool, thus consuming more gas causing the consumption of more gasoline causing global warming we’re all gonna DIE!

Either the rumor was fodder for The Babylon Bee, or, it quietly died in committee.

The most outlandish Babylon Bee offering is only about 6 months ahead of CA legislative efforts to bring it to reality. They probably subscribe to The Bee to accumulate ideas for future legislation. Glad I moved.

This is the kind of study that deserves to be roundly ridiculed, the study authors who though this was a valid topic humiliated and ridiculed, those who approved the grant ridiculed, humiliated, and fired from their position for being wastrels, and the grant money should be clawed back, if possible, due to the sheer stupidity of the topic, like the study done on the effects of cocaine on the sex lives of quails or whatever it was.

” like the study done on the effects of cocaine on the sex lives of quails or whatever it was.”

I remember that one. it caused the Quails to spell the singular name of an edible root plant as, “potatoe”. /ducking

Fact is, white is the combination of all the colours of the rainbow, whereas black is no colour at all.
But don’t tell the Wokes, it will only confuse them.
