Russia Demands ‘International Probe’ After Bombshell Report Claims Biden White House Ordered Hit on Stream Pipelines

Report by Seymour Hersh claims Biden Admin ordered CIA to blow up Russia’s Baltic Sea natural gas pipelines to Germany.

A week after a German investigation apparently absolved Russia of any involvement in blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines, an investigative report has accused the Biden White House and the CIA of conducting the sabotage.

On Wednesday, a Substack article by veteran U.S. journalist Seymour Hersh claimed that the Biden White House ordered the CIA to blow up the Russian undersea pipelines. In late September, multiple explosions severely damaged the Nord Stream 1 and undersea pipelines that ran from Russia to Germany and were a significant source of natural gas to western Europe.

In a 5000-word report titled “How America Took Out The Nord Stream Pipeline,” Hersh claims that the covert operation was carried out after months of military and intelligence planning. According to the article, the undersea operation was conducted “under the cover” of the NATO naval exercise known as Baltic Operations 22 or BALTOPS 22, which was held last June near the coast of Germany.

“Biden’s decision to sabotage the pipelines came after more than nine months of highly secret back and forth debate inside Washington’s national security community about how to best achieve that goal,” Hersh claims.

Basing his report on an unnamed source “with direct knowledge of the operational planning,” Hersh alleges that deep-sea divers planted the explosives from the US Navy’s Diving and Salvage Centre in Panama City, Florida.

On September 26, 2022 — nearly three months later, the C4 explosives were detonated by a sonar buoy dropped from a Norwegian Navy surveillance plane.

Describing the impact of the blasts, Hersh notes:

A few hours later, the high-powered C4 explosives were triggered and three of the four pipelines were put out of commission. Within a few minutes, pools of methane gas that remained in the shuttered pipelines could be seen spreading on the water’s surface and the world learned that something irreversible had taken place.

The incident dislodged Russia as Europe’s top gas supplier and plunged Germany into an energy crisis ahead of the winter. “Russia has spent about $20 billion building the pipelines. Nord Stream 2, which was completed in 2021, was not yet operational at the time of the sabotage,” The Times of London reported Thursday.

The Biden White House and the U.S. intelligence establishment rejected Hersh’s accusations. The New York Post reported:

Then-White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Hersh’s report was “riddled with inaccuracy and outright falsehoods,” while former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell told CBS News at the time that he “got a third of the way through [the article] and I stopped because every sentence I was reading was wrong.”

German Mainstream Media Suppressing the story?

Several regional newspapers and news websites in Germany picked up Hersh’s report. But major news outlets like the widely-read newspapers Die Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, or the weekly Der Siegel didn’t report the story as of early Thursday.

The southern German newspaper Badener Tagblatt complained about Washington’s inaction following the bombshell article. “It’s actually surprising: in a sensational article, a well-known journalist accuses the U.S. government’s hand behind the hitherto unsolved attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines, and nothing happens in Washington,” the daily lamented.

But the same charge can be leveled against the German mainstream media. Nothing the silence by Germany’s big media outlets, the Swiss weekly Die Weltwoche wrote early Thursday: “The revelations by U.S. reporter Hersh are a journalistic bombshell. But the German media are hiding them.”

Russia Calls for International Probe

Bolstered by the alleged revelations, Russia renewed demands for an international probe into the blasts. “Russia wants to use a U.S. journalist’s report as the basis for international probe into the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 Baltic gas pipelines,” German public broadcaster Deutschlandfunk reported.

So, let’s talk about truly impeachable offenses.

If this is true, and a single article by a reporter with unnamed sources is far from convincing me, then this is an impeachable offense. It is an attack against fellow NATO allies. While the pipeline was shutdown due to sanctions, it is still part of our NATO allies infrastructure. How can any sane person justify something like this? This is not a war where we blow a bridge in an allied country we are fighting a battle in. This is a direct attack on an ally. If this is true, what sort of insane morons are running this country?

Thoughts?

I don’t believe it for a second. This is what Russia specializes in….nuisance, contrived, adversarial propaganda to distract from their bad behavior.

The ONLY way this would be done is if our own allies asked us to blow it up for them. Then, you have a real conspiracy, but I’d need a whole lot more info to begin to believe that.

NotCoach in reply to healthguyfsu. | February 9, 2023 at 1:27 pm

I had heard Hersh’s name before, but was not familiar with him. Doing a little research he is an unreliable source it seems.

rollinshultz in reply to NotCoach. | February 10, 2023 at 8:42 am

No links to the research. Are you believing the so-called fact checkers which even dumb people are beginning to realize are corporate media entities?
Syemour Hersh is highly awarded and WORLD REKNOWN INVESTGATIVE REPORTER, but you say “doing a little research” and “it seems”. congratulations on NOT being concrete and specific.
“it seems” you will believe all the trashing of Seymour that is already being presented by Mainstream Media.

CommoChief in reply to healthguyfsu. | February 9, 2023 at 2:36 pm

More info would be great to have. Which Nation will be selected to lead the investigation? Obviously it must be a Nation with sufficient expertise and one not involved with the belligerent Nations of Ukraine and Russia and has no stake in the outcome of the investigation. Off the top of my head I can’t name a Nation that fits the bill that wouldn’t be rejected by one or more parties. Perhaps we should start with basic questions of cui bono, capability and opportunity to execute such a thing. Frankly that’s all we are likely to ever get in public other than protestations of innocence.

The US does all sorts of things you will not ever hear about. Some of them not nice at all. Some conducted by the Intel community, some via orgs that ‘don’t exist’ and some via cut outs or contractors. Some officially sanctioned and some not. That isn’t proof the US did it but we absolutely have the capability, motive and opportunity to do so and a compliant media so wrapped up in simplistic Russia bad/Ukraine good, don’t embarrass Biden and d/prog that they don’t seem interested in ferreting out the truth.

alaskabob in reply to healthguyfsu. | February 9, 2023 at 2:57 pm

Blinkin wrote about blowing up a Russian pipeline in an ally versus ally issue…. FJoe Biden and Nuland both stated that the pipeline would be finished if Russia invaded. Even IF Russia did it, the Biden boyz gave a lot of shade for Russia. Our “allies” have to go along with the US these days…. especially after the pipelines are gone. Who really benefited from their destruction?

alaskabob in reply to alaskabob. | February 9, 2023 at 3:00 pm

Oh…and let us remember who took down Libya for “personal” gain. Blowing up the pipeline is quite within present US undertakings.

Personally, I would rather believe the Russians than that pedophile in the Oval Office. At least the Russians have never stolen anything from me.

Your first paragraph precisely describes America’s democrats (marxocrats). Is your stake interest in the Ukraine Money Laundering operation a big one or a small one?

BierceAmbrose in reply to NotCoach. | February 9, 2023 at 1:45 pm

“…what sort of insane morons are running this country?”

    They’re practiced, tho intuitive, opportunists.

They think they’ll get away with it, because they’ve always gotten away with whatever. They don’t know they’re thinking this way — they didn’t say it, so they don’t know they think it. So, no guard-rails on their hunches, nor updates on purpose from noticing it ain’t working. They’re people who get pissed-off with “I can’t understand why I keep missing these shots.” or a beat-up bar pool table vs. people who can notice “It’s always breaking toward that corner; must be tilted.”

You can’t help them. “This time it’s different…” is an argument with the think-y part of their brains, not the trained-up hunch part that’s really driving.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to NotCoach. | February 9, 2023 at 3:46 pm

Biden has committed impeachable offenses – namely his border policy and possibly his corruption that is being slowly uncovered. Blowing up those pipelines is not impeachable even if it is true.

I always thought the Brits did it, not the US.

gonzotx in reply to NotCoach. | February 9, 2023 at 9:20 pm

    You have to ask?

Was this not an act of aggression? Yes…No?

Even Wikipedia notes that “Hersh reported that the Obama administration lied about the events surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden, and reported that the claim that the Assad regime used chemical weapons on civilians in the Syrian Civil War was untrue” in its’ opening summary. And regarding Iran he accused GWB of planning a NUCLEAR first strike on Iran!

The only place this fantasy belongs is in the trash.

I am sure Hersh is not reporting Russian propaganda at all.

Why are we giving this the time of day?

    ss396 in reply to dwb. | February 10, 2023 at 11:46 am

I don’t have any particular reason to believe the CIA, either.
We’re probably being played by both sides of this thing.

BierceAmbrose | February 9, 2023 at 1:50 pm

So, Russia demands this be dealt with in a kangaroo court of their choosing. Quelle suprise. How’s all those pan-national authoritah lookin to ya these days?

How about we hold the show trial in the US? We have sky-high diases and an in-chambers jumbo-tron just idling in the capitol. Might as well use them.

nordic prince | February 9, 2023 at 1:59 pm

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were.

I sure as hell don’t believe a word emanating from this clown world administration. I take it as a given that Biden is an inveterate liar.

Fat_Freddys_Cat | February 9, 2023 at 2:20 pm

Cui bono? It seems to me the neocons in Washington D.C. gain more from this sabotage than Putin does.

American Human in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | February 9, 2023 at 2:46 pm

Your questions is the relevant one. If the pipeline was not finished or not even commissioned or something, why was it so important to someone somewhere that they had to blow it up? Has their ploy worked? Are we seeing it unfold somehow? Wouldn’t the WEF be rich enough to do something like this?

What is happening now that would not have happened if the pipeline had not been destroyed? These are impossible questions to answer now. They could be answered if your questions were to be answered.

Both DIctator Dementia and Victora Nuland said if Russia invaded Ukraine the pipeline would be attacked.

This could be an op by the democrats to clip Biden. Or maybe it isn’t. Who knows. I do like Dementia Joe and that smirking weasel Nuland on the hot plate.

Swedish and Lithuania civilian contractors laying energy cables across the Baltic Sea were continually interfered with, and harassed, by Russian warships. Lithuania recently completed a new LNG sea port facility. The energy cable is part of a consortium of Finland and the Baltic nations to replace Russian LNG to stable outside sources. The Russians do not approve of former vassals getting uppity. It’s wise to note when Finland gets nervous. They threaded their way through the cold war and never asked for help. Eighty years. But now? They’re like twitchy alcoholics.

Maybe the Russians sabotaged their own pipeline. Who knows.

I don’t trust the media.

Biden seems to be adding to his international crimes, starting with the border. He’s turning America into a rogue state. Corruption, cruelty and now ciminality. What’s next?

If the US did in fact do this, it was an act of war. Who can blame the Russians if they retaliate in kind?

What happens if in fact the US didn’t do it and Russia uses it as a pretext to attack American assets?

Will that be the trigger that starts World War Three (3) and thus lead to a Nooklur Exchange?

Awww heck. We deserve to get nuked because we’re the Bad Guyz and the Russians are Victims (again) of American Imperialism.

Did you know America is TEEMING with White Supremacist-Fascists?

Maybe Russia will nuke Ukraine as a gig-side-job since we all know Ukraine is chock-full of corrupt, NAZI haters. Who can blame them?

CommoChief in reply to Tiki. | February 9, 2023 at 8:28 pm

Geopolitical rhetorical grandstanding about the certainty that the US Govt not only could but would ‘end’ these pipelines from POTUS and the Under Secretary of State seem to have been a bad idea. Words matter, especially those of people who have the power to follow through on them.

Latching on to this flimsy report just because you hate Biden (I do, too) does not really do the conservative cause of an unbiased search for truth any good.

Ironclaw in reply to healthguyfsu. | February 9, 2023 at 7:55 pm

I’d say the real indictment here is the fact that our system is so crooked and so dishonest but this has any credibility whatsoever because we all know the government lies and nobody really questions it. In fact that the government is lying is my initial assumption until they prove otherwise.

Sy Hersh is an America-hater who has been making up wild allegations against the USA since the Vietnam War. It’s dangerous to trust anything he writes.

Ironclaw in reply to Milhouse. | February 9, 2023 at 7:57 pm

Okay, you’re saying that Hersh is a liar yet we all know that the government is a liar so which one’s lying right now. Personally, Hersh has never lied to me yet the government has.

I read this last year somewhere that a secret call between Biden and the PM of GB confirmed it. I would not be surprised as it never made any sense that Putin would order the destruction of one of his money makers. What would be the point?

Ever since the My Lai Massacre, the government and MSM have been trying to defame and demonize Hersch. He keeps on breaking major news stories and has been much more reliable than the psuedo-journalists of the MSM. If Seymour Hersch said it happened, IT HAPPENED!!!! Would anyone believe the Government? Specifically the Biden Gangster group.

Milhouse in reply to Bobber. | February 10, 2023 at 1:19 am

You have it exactly backwards. Hersh has been defaming and demonizing the USA since then. He made up atrocities in Vietnam that never happened, and his America-hating colleagues gave him awards and honor.

Evil Otto in reply to Bobber. | February 10, 2023 at 7:38 am

“If Seymour Hersch said it happened, IT HAPPENED!!!!”

That isn’t even a remotely true statement. It is not rational to automatically believe someone merely because they claim that an enemy has done something. Hersch has done some great work, but he’s also made some outlandish claims to. He runs about 50%, and (here’s the key) HE HAS AN AGENDA. While I wouldn’t mind at all this being investigated (if they can find someone trustworthy to do it), Hersch’s word is worth nothing to me.

Of course the Biden admin would do this if they thought they could get away with it. But that does not mean they did.

Another blogger has pointed out one serious hole in Hersh’s suppositions:

Remember that there were actually two distinct explosions – the first one to the south, on Pipe A of Nord Stream 2 alone, at 2:03 in the morning; and the second on both Nord Stream 1 pipes and again on Pipe A of Nord Stream 2, at a separate location miles to the north and exactly seventeen hours later, at 19:03. Hersh’s article, describing explosives laid at a location where both Nord Stream pipes ran parallel, seems to be only about the second, more northerly attack.

    thad_the_man in reply to henrybowman. | February 9, 2023 at 9:23 pm

You have to be kidding, There are two holes in your hole.
    1. The time for the bouy to travel North to the second explosion site.
    2. TImers set differently.

I think there is a big question not being asked: When will Hersh commit suicide?

    GravityOpera in reply to thad_the_man. | February 10, 2023 at 2:39 am

Why would Biden or his handlers suicide someone who is publicly defaming and libeling the US and complicating anti-Russian military aid?

“ former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell told CBS News at the time that he “got a third of the way through [the article] and I stopped because every sentence I was reading was wrong.”
Hmmm… the word “wrong” implies something wholly different from “false”.

Hersh is a good but problematic writer because of his reliance and overreliance on anonym0us sources. This story seems like it was taken from the plot line of a Tom Clancy novel. I can’t see the uberwoke CIA or JCS or the appeasement guided Biden and NSC approving of such a mission but perhaps as in the case of the taking out of Bin Laden, the CIA and JCS deemed it possible and Biden , the NSC and DOD all approved it

Who knows who is right or wrong? But with Biden’s record of lying about almost everything, he certainly doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. For those accusing Russia of doing it, think about it for a moment. That is a money pipeline for them and their economy is not the best. Can you really imagine them taking a huge pay cut just to plant a false flag? Money talks and I simply do not believe they would have done it.

Gas was flowing (through NS1) from Russia to Germany. Russia controlled the flow. Merely closing the valves at their end stops the flow. The party who blew up the lines did so because they don’t control the valves, and were fearful that those valves might be re-opened. The Russians could keep the flow closed without incurring the loss of the destruction of the pipelines. There was no reason for them to blow up their own pipelines. Doing so provided them with no additional benefit (above being in control of the valves), but it did eliminate Russia’s ability to use natural gas as a bargaining chip with Germany. Why would Russia deny itself the potential leverage?
