Crime-Victim Democratic Rep. Angie Craig Calls for DC Crime Crackdown

“All I could do was throw my coffee over my shoulder”

Last week Democratic Rep. Angie Craig reported a man “trapped her and demanded to go inside her apartment.” At that moment, the Minnesota representative said, “fight or flight kicked in,” and she did all she could to escape him.

She explained the terrifying incident on CBS News

Hamlin punched Craig in the face and grabbed her by the shoulder and collarbone, police said.

“All I could do was throw my coffee over my shoulder, which startled him,” Craig said. “But as soon as he regained, he came back toward me, and again, it was only until we got to the floor the elevator was headed to that I was able to escape.”

Thanks to liberal policies, all she could do was throw her hot coffee at him and hoped that would be enough to escape. Thankfully, it was—this time.

Americans—especially those on the right— have been saying the weak punishments given to repeat criminals across the country are putting Americans in danger. Now Rep. Craig is calling for changes.

Rep. Craig seems to be agreeing now changes must happen to prevent new victims:

“I was assault No. 13 on his record,” Craig said. “And I’m gonna do everything in my power to make sure there’s not a 14, a 15, a 20.”

“I mean, it wasn’t even in every instance that he got 10 days or 30 days. Many times, the charges were completely dropped before any justice was achieved at all,” she added.

“If you throw somebody in jail for 10 days and think, ‘There’s your punishment, and we’re gonna let you right back on the street,’ what the hell do you think’s gonna happen?” Craig said.

Now we know why some in congress have been fighting so hard to be able to defend themselves.  What happens when hot coffee doesn’t work?

Just like illegal immigration they are all in favor of it as long as it isn’t in their own backyard.

Typical, vile and hypocritical Dumb-o-crat. The criminal-coddling/enabling, racial agitprop, open borders laxity, police vilification and undermining and assorted other pro-criminal attitudes/policy stances are all fun and games, until a particular Dumb-o-crat is mugged by reality — literally.

When someone else’s mother, father, spouse, son, daughter, sister, brother or grandparent is being victimized by said attitudes and polices, it’s okay.

Award winner here is European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, who refused to listen to any criticism of her “wolf re-introduction policies” until one of them killed her pet pony.

These vile Dumb-o-crat apparatchiks don’t care when their ruinous and idiotic policies wreak havoc on the peasants of the proletariat. When they’re personally affected, then, all of a sudden, these reprobates give a damn and have their eyes opened.

Does the old saw ‘a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality’ apply here?

A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged.

Including those mugged by the propaganda or SJW narrative. Lots of people who did surface level analysis if any about criminal justice reform, particularly bail reform, got played. It was sold as don’t automatically use pretrial confinement and high bail requirements for ‘petty’ crimes. If that had been limited to first time offenders of non violent crimes then it may have been defensible.

That wasn’t what was delivered. Instead bail reform turned into no bail requirement being allowed for any but the most heinous crimes; murder, rape, kidnapping and the like. Even NYC chose Adams who campaigned as the ‘law and order’ reformer to push back on the crazy. The problem in many jurisdictions is the legislature has tied the hands of Judges to preclude bail from a majority of crimes. Couple that with DA who seem to prioritize criminals over Citizens along with a hamstrung police force without adequate personnel, ever present anarchist protesters and things go sideways quickly.

    Turning into a conservative in 5, 5, 5, 6…

I’m not familiar with this congressman but I wonder what her stance on self-defense was before this incident, and what it is now. Many Democrats are in the “never fight back just give them what they want” camp. Turns out you have to fight back sometimes.

It reminds me of Leslie Gore’s song:

“You would cry too, if it happened to you.”

wonder if she’s reflected on just how lucky she was?–she deflected an assault with a cup of coffee–a determined assailant with a weapon could easily have shot / cut her and put her in icu / the funeral home or unarmed, could have beat her into a coma / life-support situation where she could languish for years–either way, the perp would likely have been released (even if actually apprehended and charged) to try it on with someone else

Looking at D.C. Local Police blotter, as of yesterday, 2/15, there have been 5 major crimes (bodily and property) in the 4 previous days with all who committed the crimes listed as being at large. They can pass the laws but enforcing them is where it’s at. The courts have gone woke as have the D.A.’s who prosecute.

Hope they both wake up and smell the coffee!

Not so tough when your private security is not at your side.

I’d rather be armed with a .45 ACP than a cup of hot coffee, but that’s just me.

“heroes”? police? or Second Amendment civil rights?

I don’t understand…why didn’t she just give the perp what he wanted? Isn’t that what they keep telling us to do?

Besides, I thought crime is the result of a systemically racist culture that exacerbates income inequality and drives the less fortunate into desperate acts to feed their families.. Why does she hate poor people?

“Crime Crack Down”

So, somebody else with guns is going to go rearrange the world by force, so it’s better for her. Are you more, or less responsible when you have minions do it for you?

What is she complaining about? It’s her party’s policies which created the lawlessness, arrest and release policies, the spike in criminal activity, etc. Ordinary citizens have been negatively impacted by the ridiculous polices. Now, when she experiences it first hand, she wants to do something about it. What a hypocrite!

A new Republican is a Democrat who’s been mugged.

So, how is this hypothetical “crack down” which she can’t carry with her into the elevator, better than a gun which she can?
