Ronna McDaniel Wins Fourth Term as RNC Chairwoman
It wasn’t even close.
It wasn’t even close.
FINAL RNC CHAIR VOTE: 167 votes cast — 84 needed for the majority
Zeldin – 1
Lindell – 4
Dhillon – 51
McDaniel – 111— Dylan Wells (@dylanewells) January 27, 2023
California committee member Harmeet Dhillon gained a lot of supporters after the Republicans took a beating in the November midterms.
But support from DeSantis didn’t make any difference:
McDaniel, who as Michigan GOP chair was Trump’s handpicked choice to steer the committee after he won the White House in 2016, was re-elected to the post in 2019 and 2021. McDaniel urged stability while Dhillon, who served as a top Trump legal adviser, ran an insurgent campaign stressing that change was needed following the Republican Party’s lackluster performance in the 2022 midterms, which many in the GOP expected to be a red wave election.
In a national exclusive interview ahead of the vote, McDaniel told Fox News that RNC members “trust my leadership, and they know this is a critical, pivotal time that we cannot take down the infrastructure of the RNC and then be successful in 2024.”

The Republican party is WORTHLESS. They aren’t even bothering to PRETEND that they care what voters want at this point.
Don’t send them a penny, bankrupt them, then maybe they will make the needed changes
Or, send them “a penny”. Send checks of an amount so low they cost more to process than they are worth.
Bankrupt them? They are bankrupting themselves with lavish lifestyles, $80,000 for booze, and who knows what else they are pissing away money for?
Anyone who sends the RNC any money is a fool. But then again, voting for Republican candidates is really just voting for Democrats pretending to be Republicans.
Republicans are just as much globalists shills as Democrats are. They are happy to take money from China, Russia, and who knows who else, with the idea of keeping their cushy jobs.
Harmeet Dhillon should start her own PAC, in direct competition to the RNC, so the money can go to the right places, not to graft. She could promote it on Fox. I bet that the size of that PAC would surprise and embarrass the RINOs.
Heck, that way she could even partner with Mike Lindell.
Ronna McDaniel is a POS RINO, bad news for America.
Exactly. No Republican Party organization, at any level, deserves anybody’s financial support.
It will be time to reconsider when they show evidence they are interested in something besides running an exclusive club and profiting thereby.
I don’t think enough of us get the message here: the GOPe is a corrupt money-laundering racket – LITERALLY. And it works like this: cash comes in from “big donors”, which is not used to win elections, but launder bribery money to GOPe politicians who are not in contentious election.
In other words: they don’t want any “Republicans” winning, because outsiders will kill the scam. And the LAST thing they want is a “GOP Chair” who is not in on the scam – or how can’t be easily bribed (witness Rotten Rona) to be their useful bagman. The LAST thing the GOPe wants is an honest chairman or woman who will actually look at how money is spent and what it is spent on. The LAST thing.
The GOPe is nothing but a money laundering racket, and the re-election of Rotten Rona proves it.
NEVER donate to the RNC, the GOP, or any PAC. Only donate directly to those candidates you can trust.
I did. The RNC sent twice as much money to their opponents. Next to FTX, worst ROI ever.
If you thought the Uniparty in DC ever cared what us smelly WalMart shoppers tought then sorry for the awakening.
Yet another victory for Donald Trump.
“McDaniel, who as Michigan GOP chair was Trump’s handpicked choice to steer the committee after he won the White House in 2016.”
Who votes in this, aside from expired Democrats, I mean?
Expired Republicans.
The RNC consists of three delegates from each state and territory Republican Party: the state/territory chair, plus one man and one woman.
Uniparty, she did so well taking what should have be a history making landslide and watching the Marxists steal it
And getting rich at the same time.
Getting my salary doubled for failing at my job never crossed my mind but it appears that in DC failing upwards never paid so well.
I’m done with the national Republican Party. While I will continue to support those candidates running in my local and state elections, the corruption at the national level disgusts me. Show me the difference between them and the Dems.
as will I … not any money … local and statewide even nationally I will send money DIRECTLY
to that candidate … I have never sent money
to the RNC because I don’t trust them.. I trust them
less after this last election …
The RNC is like Congress, it no longer gives a siht what the people think or care about. Have they done anything in the last two years that has been good for us? If this overpaid niece of a RINO was a coach of any sport with her terrible record, she would have been fired before now.
It’s much, much worse than ‘they don’t give a sh-t”. The National GOP is a bribery and money-laundering scam.
You have to be either an idiot or a briber to give them a dime.
OMG.. I really thought we’d get rid of her
We need a new party
The American citizens party
I stopped giving money to the Republican Party, really didn’t give any money this last go around, but I do think individuals of character need help, cause the RINO party refuses to help any real conservative
This is not going to sit well with MAGA voters, conservatives in general, and in reality, that’s 80% of the party
Odd that in this entire piece with comments, no one (so far) has managed to mention that she not only was endorsed by Trump, she was also endorsed by Dhillon.
Hmm. That was supposed to be a stand-alone comment, not a response. The comment format kicks me again.
I don’t understand. This looks like a typo. How could Ronna be endorsed by an opponent?
I wasn’t in the room at the time, and only heard her comment without context. In retrospect, it very well could have been her concession speech, but she clearly affirmed her confidence in Ronna.
Exactly. Dhillon never attacked McDaniel, or called her RINO or any of the other names commenters here like to sling around. She has every confidence in McDaniel but she challenged because she thought that she could do a better job. The majority of the committee disagreed, and that’s OK.
This is McDaniels’s last term, and hopefully in two years there will be a Republican president so s/he will appoint the next RNC chair.
OK, What I found recently was:
“I’ve been incredibly supportive of Ronna,” Dhillon told Fox News in a sit-down interview. “But you know, at the end of the day, like I said, this isn’t school. You don’t get a gold star forever. You don’t get to stay in your job forever. If you continuously under perform what you promised your clients, they don’t hire you the next time around.”
That sounds more like what I would have expected.
Assume that every dollar donated through the RNC (especially including WinRed, their unbelievably annoying text-messaging spam operation) goes into the pocket of a consultant. And the consultants make just as much if they lose as if they win. Nobody cares.
Exactly why I am not a part of either party….. The stench is on both!
Face it. The Republicans despise their own base just as much as the Democrats despise the Republican base. The establishment Republicans are perfectly happy to be the junior partners to the Democrats in this scam.
I am afraid that MAGA will have to create a new party. I know that is difficult, I had hoped that the Republican party could be purged of RINOs, that is not going to happen.
FWIW Trump surrogates supported McDaniel this round. Not a huge shock considering that he has supported her in previous rounds.
The smart play for the potential contenders for the GoP Presidential Nomination was to back the strongest candidate for RNC Chair. It gives them the the inside track and doesn’t create bad blood. The only serious contender for 2024 to publicly oppose McDaniel was DeSantis. The populist right is bigger than any one person. Particularly when that one person has backed the establishment choice for Speaker and RNC chair.
Not even a tiny shock, considering that he appointed her in the first place, and she supported him throughout his presidency.
That’s not what I read after the vote. The TGP took a survey from all of the delegates and only FOUR supported Trump in 2024. I do not believe that Trump surrogates supported McDaniels. I believe it was the RINOs like McConnell and the ones that support him. We all know their names and they were against all of Trump’s backed nominees in the last election. Although I did think that Oz and Walker were just about the worst two candidates ever. What the RNC and especially McConnell did to certain candidates was the same as treason. When and if I contribute to a candidate it is directly to their campaign and NEVER through the RNC.
They’re not merely “rinos” – that’s a cover they comforably hide behind. The Republican Party at the national level is a scam worthy of a RICO investigaiton.
As Einstein said, insanity is doing the same this over and over and expecting a different result. After the 2020 election, when it was clear that early voting and voting by mail was critical, to not have established a parallel operation to the
Dems should have gotten all party leaders responsible fired. Instead the Republicans are fine with hours long lines and many not voting, as in Arizona, and losing elections.
One of the many reasons the USA is in decline is that the two political parties that we have are Center-Left and Socialist – with only how the country is wrecked in occasional dispute.
Yep. Had nothing to do with anything else.
when the DNC Chair is celebrating you know you effed up badly

We need a new party.
The key “leadership” of the GOP (McCarthy, Romney-McDaniel, McConnell) ALL remain in place. Conclusion: the GOP is fine with the status quo. Including the 2020 and 2022 elections.
they get invited the the “right” dinner parties
they get placed on good board of directors
they get inside info on investing
all they have to do is go along to get along
yes a few symbolic votes are allowed, that way
they can b reelected .. but over all its all dog and pony shows …
I don’t disagree if you narrow that statement to just the establishment of the GoP. They are in favor of nothing interrupting their grift that is for certain.
Using your logic though has implications for DJT. He supported both McConnell and McCarthy in their leadership bids and not only refused to back anyone else for RNC Chair but had his surrogates support McDaniel.
Understandable enough for a politician who hopes to capture the 2024 GoP nomination. Endorsing these establishment figures and refusing to support upstart opponents is the smart play politically. He is counting on a back scratching in return to beat back his eventual opponents for the nomination.
I think PDJT has learned his lesson, as we all have. NONE OF US had earlier realized what a scam the GOPe is running.
Power is when you can take a candidate dedicated to draining you, and co-opt him into running for you without realizing it.
I, for one, am totally shocked that Republican leadership chooses to continue their role as controlled opposition so the plebs don’t get unruly. I was absolutely sure the same people who grift hundreds of millions of dollars from gullible people wouldn’t choose to remove themselves from power and stop tricking their voter base. It’s all just so unbelievable.
GOP is comfortable losing. The establishment wins again
THEY don’t lose a thing! They GAIN $$$$$$$$ but WE lose!
That’s the point!
Making the increasingly dubious assumption that we have elections in 2024, or even something called elections with as much integrity as Soviet elections [the Nomenklatura‘s dream regardless of putative party]; the Republicans will lose so badly in them that they will be come superfluous to the Left. You know what happens to those the Left deems to be no longer needed.
Subotai Bahadur
We will have “elections” in 2024 and beyond, but they will be a Third World joke. In states like California, Pennsylvania, and Arizona they are nearly there.
One little but important thing: to whomever wrote the headline, thank you for “chairwoman”. It is a pleasure to read real English.
Any chairwoman in a barfight.
She has managed to live high on the hog at our expense and doubled her salary to lose elections.
The RNC will now get the pretty much the NRA gets when asking for money for these grifters.
NRA: Donate to us
Me: When Wayne is gone
RNC: Donate to us
Me: When Rona is gone
When Rona is gone? Fat chance. Let them audition for a few years for our money.
Now I understand how the Democrats managed to corrupt the electoral system nationwide with seemingly no real resistance from the Republicans.
Consider this the RNCs endorsement of Trump 2024.
The RNC will get nothing from me.
They get nothing from anybody, yet they seem to have ZILLIONS of dollars coming in, and none going to any candidate that isn’t a corrupt piece of sh-t already in their club.
Begs the question: who is bribing them?
We are, silly.
“We’re” not – big business and billionaires are bribing them. Our donations are chump change, which is why we’ve been chumps.
Perhaps the way forward is reform of the process. How about creating a system in which the State GoP control the National GoP? By this I mean weight the votes of each State by the number of GoP office holders.
Assign one point for control of the Gov, LT Gov, AG, SoS.One point for majority legislature, one additional point for supermajority control. One point for each US Senator. Then add a possible five points for HoR based on % of seats. So Alabama has 6/7 CD would get 4 points.
Add that up and a deep red State like Bama receives 12 point to cast. Compare with NY or CA and one can immediately see how rewarding electoral success would shift the nature and policies of the national GoP.
Or, if you think like a crook about how to game the system, all this is likely to do is move all the cheating down to the state level. My experience in Arizona is that this is just likely to result in more McCain Mafias, and more candidacies of “moderates” like McCain and Lindsey Graham.
Yet the State level party is far more accountable when the members of that State party express themselves. Harder to lock up 50 State delegations. The thing is the vote wouldn’t be held by the politicians hold those offices. It would be expressed by the vote of the State party membership the same way they select the State Chair.
Even if was gamed out the as you suggest, the baseline would be shift much further to the right than currently. We should do the same sort of thing for the nomination for POTUS. Why should big blue States that do not vote GoP get outsize influence on the GoP platform and selection of a standard bearer? Eff that. Imagine the potential platform created by the GoP from Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and TX in contrast with that of CA, NY, Massachusetts and Michigan.
States do get more say at the convention for each office holder they have.
But again, you write: “It would be expressed by the vote of the State party membership the same way they select the State Chair”. You don’t seem to realize that that’s exactly how the RNC is selected now.
Um, the state GOPs do control the national GOP. Who do you think is on the RNC? Each state party’s chair, plus two delegates, all three elected by the state party.
Your suggestion to reward electoral success is interesting and has merit. Of course it would also reward bigger states, since they are able to have more office holders. But don’t call that “creating a system in which the State GoP control the National GoP”, because that already happens.
Also don’t forget that in years when there’s a Republican president the RNC chair is not elected, but is appointed by the president. That’s how McDaniel got the job in the first place. Trump appointed her.
This vote alone tells you everything you need to know about who is in actual control of “your” party, and what they think of you.
Hey, Danny — remind us again why we all need to back the GOPe… rewarding their abuse with our loyalty, like every other battered spouse.
What’s really obvious now is that the GOPe is bribed to lose. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, it does.
